Chapter 47: Chapter 47

Behind the counter stood a robust dwarf with long brown hair; he wore a short-sleeved linen tunic over a leather apron, darkened by years of forging. His sturdy, slightly baggy trousers were secured by a thick belt. Calloused hands remained bare; no gloves were needed while simple iron-toed boots provided firm footing. A sweat-stained cloth was tucked into his belt.

Kian took a good look and made his way toward the counter, putting the chest on it.

"Excuse me," he said, with a slight bow.

"What do you need?" the dwarf bluntly stated, barely sparing Kian a glance.

"I heard this shop has a good reputation, so I was wondering if I could sell some weapons here and buy some as well."

The dwarf turned his head toward Kian, looked at the chest, and snorted. "Show me what you want to sell, and then I’ll decide," he said.

"Grant! Get over here," he shouted over his shoulder. "Some human wants to sell weapons."

Kian opened the chest and placed some weapons in front of the dwarf and patiently waited for his reply.

Then another dwarf looking very similar to the one seated behind the counter entered, standing next to him.

Both took a good look at the weapons and were quite surprised by what they saw.

Grant looked at Guiseppe, and with a nod from Guiseppe, turned to Kian.

"Sir, where did you get these weapons?" he asked.

Kian raised an eyebrow at the difference in attitude, surprised by the difference between the two dwarfs.

"My lord raided a couple bandit camps, and we got them from there," he truthfully said.

Giuseppe and Grant looked at each other, surprised.

Clearing his throat, Guiseppe stared at Kian. "So you’re saying you wiped out that giant gang that has been terrorizing the traveling merchants?"

Kian nodded while pulling out the axe that the leader had used, showing it to both dwarves. With a proud smile.

The two dwarves looked at one another and then heaved a sigh of relief as if some unresolved grudge had been settled.

"Thank you." They both echoed in unison while both bowing to Kian.

Kian looked at the two. "I don’t know why you’re thanking me, but you should probably thank my lord for it. Not me. And would you buy all these weapons then?" He asked, sensing an opportunity had come his way.

He definitely needed to mention this shop to Luan and see what plans or actions he would take.

Giuseppe nodded. "We’d be happy to buy these weapons, so just take everything you want to sell out at once."

A while later all the weapons Kian wanted to sell were placed in the storage room of the shop, and the three were standing behind the counter again.

Giuseppe was calculating how much he should buy all those weapons for; there were all kinds of weapons, good quality ones he could resell immediately and trash he would have to smelt.

Kian patiently waited for Giuseppe’s verdict.

A couple of minutes later.

"He’s going to get all the gold coins. I don’t have enough gold here." Giuseppe explained, sending Grant away with a note.

"Okay, and do you take custom orders?" Kian inquired.

"If I feel like it," Guiseppe said with a shrug.

"What if my lord wants a large custom order or weapon made? Would you do that?"

"Yeah, if it’s your lord or you, I’ll take it," he said, a determined look in his eyes.

Kian felt some underlying tension between the dwarf in front of him and those bandits, but he chose not to inquire what had happened.

He needed to return soon, and he frankly didn’t care, as long as this helped Luan; that was all that mattered.

Then Grant returned holding a large bag filled to the brim with gold; seeing this, Kian couldn’t help but smile.

’Did they give more because of those circumstances, or were those weapons worth that much to begin with?’ Kian didn’t know, but the bag in front of him must contain a large amount of gold coins together with all the other goods he sold today.

Luan’s starting capital had skyrocketed; his plans would probably become a lot smoother because of his whims on the way to the Xandrian Freeholds.

Kian accepted the bag with gold coins and put it in the chest. "Thank you; if we ever need weapons, we shall get them here," he said, leaving the shop.

Giuseppe and Grant stared at the door, making sure the gentleman had left the shop. After confirming he had left, they hugged each other tightly.

"It has finally happened; they have been avenged." Guiseppe said, his lip quivering. As tears streamed down his face.

Grant was silent, but his face was a complete mess, tears also flowing down his face; he silently nodded.

Making his way back to the inn, Kian was proud of himself; he had successfully sold everything within a single day.

Looking forward to Luan’s reaction, he hurried the horses onwards to arrive as soon as possible.

Parking the carriage back in its place, he quickly entered the inn, greeting the innkeepers briefly with a nod.

The innkeeper, an older couple, nodded at Kian as well with a tired smile. Then they continued doing what they were doing.

Kian hurried up the stairs and, without knocking, entered the room. Luan raised an eyebrow and clicked his tongue, seeing Kian enter without knocking.

"Kian, you should know better than that," he said, shaking his head.

Kian scratched his cheek. "Sorry, my lord, but I have good news: I’ve sold everything, and now we have more than doubled the starting capital for the Silver Coin!" He said, smirking.

When Luan heard that, he also grinned, "I’ll let it slide this once, but no more. You have to set the proper example for the others."

"Understood, my lord." Kian replied, placing the chest in front of Luan.

Who opened it and looked at it and said, "So shiny, huahaha."

The girls took a few steps back and looked with confused looks at Luan, who looked possessed while looking at all that gold within the chest.
