Chapter 40: Chapter 40

Kian stared at Luan, his mouth agape, shaking his head. "Luciano, you and I will check out the base real quick, and then we’ll formulate a plan." Kian ordered, leaving Luan, Kafele, and Bart behind as he disappeared.

Luciano bowed toward Luan before leaving to scout the enemy base. This was their first real battle, so it was better to be cautious.

Kian went to the east side while Luciano went toward the west side. Each scouted a different area.

Completely hiding his presence, Kian slipped through the guards patrolling with ease, and then with a sudden burst of speed, he jumped over the five-meter-high gate.

Landing on the edge and looking around the camp before carefully landing on a roof of what looked like a makeshift house.

’Lots and lots of people. And their gear is no joke as well.’ Kian thought, looking over the interior of the camp, jumping from roof to roof, taking mental notes of everything he saw.

"Gahahaha, today we had a good haul. Those wimpy merchants almost crapped their pants when we appeared in front of them screaming shit like, Please at least spare my daughter." A rough-looking middle-aged man shouted while downing a whole glass of beer.

"You’re right, Captain, and that girl was very delicious. Tch, girl offed herself before I could have more fun." Another rough-looking man answered, rolling his eyes.

"Well, at least she didn’t struggle like that!" another added.

All of them were laughing and drinking happily around a large campfire; Kian’s gaze turned indifferent. Glancing at the men spouting vulgar crap, he kept scouting the whole camp, taking notes of special escape ways and any special or valuable things.

After an hour, Kian and Luciano were back standing before Luan. "So any chance we fully wipe them out? Or will we have to let a couple slip away?" He nonchalantly asked, as if he was certain they couldn’t fail.

Kian cleared his throat. "We won’t let a single one escape!" he determinedly said, staring Luan straight in the eyes.

Luan grinned, "Now that’s what I like to hear. So what’s the plan, Kian? I’ll let you handle that." Luan stated petting Bart, who lay next to him, relaxed.

Then Kian looked back one last time at the bandit camp and started his explanation.

His plan was very detailed, and Kafele and Luciano looked at him with awe. This old man had come up with such an intricate plan in such a short amount of time?

They knew Kian was very capable and managed Luan’s finances, but he was also an excellent strategist. What couldn’t he do?

Glancing at each other, they saw the glimmer in each other’s eyes, excited for what was about to come.

Luan, on the other hand, listened attentively to Kian’s plan, his grin widening with every new twist and turn Kian added to the plan.

After Kian had told them the whole plan, Luan’s eyes were practically shining. "Alright, you heard him, get ready; we’ll strike at midnight." With that, he turned on his heel, Bart padding at his side as they disappeared into the darkness.

Kian nodded and also made his way toward his position, and Kafele’s and Luciano’s playful expressions faded, replaced by serious expressions to make sure they executed the plan to perfection.

After hearing what Kian had said, they wanted nothing more than to wipe out the human scum in front of them.

Also making their way towards their assigned positions, they grasped their weapons tightly, waiting for the sign for the plan to start.

Luan stood in front of the main gate, with Bart standing next to him, a smirk on his face. "About time to start this commotion," he muttered, rubbing his hands together.

Vira and Lumi were seated on his shoulders, and Mara and Torg were floating behind him; the whole gang was together, ready to cause chaos and slaughter.

"I’ll have to pay attention to not let any of them escape." Clicking his tongue, Luan thought about the plan Kian had proposed; he would mostly roam around the edges of the camp, picking off any stragglers or bandits that tried to flee while letting the spirits attack the camp.

With a sigh, Luan signaled for Vira to blast open the main gate. Vira, who was lazily lying on his shoulder, rubbing her small cheeks against Luan’s face, slowly floated upward and concentrated all her energy on her small see-through hands.

Luan also sent some of his own spirit power into Vira, making sure the attack would blast open the front gate.

Bang!

The front gate was blown away by the energy blast Vira had sent into it, and the hunt was officially opened. Releasing Bart, he sprinted inside, crushing the head of the guard who was taken aback by the front gate just exploding.

Luan, with a smirk, stomped on the ground, and a large earth wall covered the front gate, making sure no one could leave.

Pointing at the sky, then all the spirits flew upwards following Luan’s command. Over the last couple of days, Luan had learned how to communicate with his spirits, even though Mara and Torg couldn’t transmit their feelings like Lumi and Vira.

Luan now knew how to effectively direct them to make them do what he needed them to do, and as soon as he saw the four spirits floating above the settlement barraging the bandits with earth, water, and lightning spears.

Luan chuckled as he felt his heart thudding against his chest, a burst of heat spreading throughout his limbs. His fingers twitched, eager to act, as his breath quickened in sync with the surge of excitement that flooded him.

He took one last look at the spirits before clicking his tongue and making his way around the camp; he kept sighing. "Why do they get to slaughter while I just need to keep walking around this dumb camp?" he grumbled, stomping against the sturdy wooden wall.

The screams of the bandits were like music in his ears. "Well, at least I can enjoy their screams from here," he muttered.
