Chapter 32: Chapter 32
Kian, Ava, and Samantha stood in front of Celia holding the chest containing everything they had collected during their trip.
"Hello, I heard from the lord that you will help take care of all matters related to the guild." He politely said, with perfect posture and a small smile on his face.
Celia looked at the older gentleman in front of her and sighed, shaking her head. ’Why does such a nice person have to serve a bastard like that?’ she thought, not showing any of it on her face.
A friendly smile plastered on her face, "Your lord is the one from the Meskevela family?" she inquired, whispering a little while looking around, making sure no one heard her.
Kian nodded, flashing the ring Luan had given him to prove his identity.
Celia glanced at the ring, her shoulders drooping and her enthusiasm fading as she remembered the young noble’s charming smile with that awful behavior.
"Follow me to the back; there I will help you exchange everything for coins." She said, pointing at a door.
After the four of them entered the private room, where people working for the dismantling squad stood waiting, Kian opened the chest, dumping all the goblin corpses on the ground.
A mountain of green corpses filled the large room; Celia’s eyes opened wide. The stench hit her full force; she gagged, almost throwing up.
The other people in the room also stood there frozen in place, staring at the mountain of corpses, then they grabbed their tools and started working on dismantling the corpses one by one with practiced ease.
First they started with draining all the blood into large barrels, even though goblins are some of the weakest creatures out there. Their blood is still used for a myriad of different potions but mostly aphrodisiacs.
Because goblins are known to be in heat all year round, if you extract their blood and mix it with other ingredients, you can make multiple kinds of aphrodisiacs: strong ones, weaker ones, and even some that work almost instantaneously.
Kian, Celia, and the two other maids exited the room, and Celia pointed them toward the first floor. Where there were multiple private rooms for people to wait for their loot to be processed and assessed.
Following Celia, the trio entered a fairly large room with two benches standing across from each other with a small table in the middle. Kian and the two maids sat next to each other on a bench.
Celia excused herself with a bow, closing the door behind her; her eyes were sparkling. Never had she expected that bastard noble to bring about so much loot; it looked like he had wiped out a whole goblin village.
With a bright smile on her face, she went to grab some tea and refreshments for her guests, and she was also going to get a higher-ranking member of the guild.
She wasn’t qualified to handle transactions this large, but she didn’t mind. She would still get a pretty large bonus because she was the one who guided the guests to the private room and registered them at the guild.
Kian looked at the two girls, who were on their best behavior, their movements looking a bit robotic at times even.
"Don’t worry too much; you’re doing great," he said, encouraging both girls.
Ava looked around, seeing no one she heaved a sigh of relief leaning against the edge of the bench.
Samantha just nodded, not relaxing even a single second. This was her first time doing something for the Lord; she couldn’t disappoint him already.
Kian, seeing the two’s reactions, chuckled, then with a serious look on his face, he stated. "I think that girl will soon join you two as a fellow maid."
Ava and Samantha looked at Kian with surprised looks on their faces.
Her voice was barely above a whisper. Ava replied, "Why do you say that, sir? Isn’t she working as a guild receptionist? Why would she become the lord’s servant?" She glanced at Kian and the door, making sure no one entered and could hear her.
"The lord gave me two orders; one was to exchange everything for coins, and the other was something related to the guild receptionist with whom he registered. I can’t tell you more than that." He replied with a stern look.
He had already said too much, but looking at the two, it slipped out. They reminded him of Luan’s mother when she first started going to social gatherings with other nobles.
A warm smile tugged at his lips, but when he heard someone knocking on the door, that smile vanished immediately.
Instead he had a serious look on his face and perfect posture.
Ava, hearing the knock, shot upright, looking at the door to see who would enter.
Without waiting for a reply, an older man with neatly trimmed black hair entered. He wore a dark blue shirt and black pants with a sword hanging at his waist.
Seeing the trio sitting on the bench, he nodded at them, "Hello, my name is Guido; I will be taking over for Celia." He said, taking a seat opposite Kian.
Kian nodded at the man. "My name is Kian. I have been entrusted by the lord to handle everything here."
Guido looked Kian straight in the eyes; he could see Kian was definitely no ordinary butler; no matter how he looked at it, he had no openings. If he wanted to take down this butler, he would have to use his sigil.
A smirk appeared on his face; it wasn’t every day you met such interesting people in the guild. Most of the time the people he dealt with were thugs or worse drunkards; just thinking about it gave him a headache.
Shaking his head to rid himself of his distracting thoughts, he decided to not beat around the bush.
"Was there anything else you wanted to sell? Or only the goblin corpses?" he asked.
Kian took the chest that stood behind the bench and pulled out a single sack, the size of a head.
