Chapter 103: Chapter 103

One ogre after another fell down lifelessly, all suffocated to death by Mara. Torg, on the other hand, was wreaking havoc across the battlefield; after taking care of the shamans, he left to help all the soldiers and squash and impale all kinds of monsters.

As death cries came from all over the battlefield, Luan was fighting with multiple trolls. Phasing through their punches, he kept cutting their bodies into pieces with his axes, but their regeneration powers were seriously amazing.

Only after cutting off their heads would they finally die, so after he had cut every last one’s head off, he took a seat on one of their bodies, catching his breath. He was starting to feel the limits of his spirit power and how long he could stay merged with Vira.

"Damn, that was intense," he muttered, as the two axes vanished and Vira appeared in front of him, rubbing her cheeks against Luan’s.

"Yea, you did great," he said, patting her head.

But he knew he couldn’t afford to slack off; he had to check back with all the other soldiers. Even though he had taken care of the stronger monsters at the back, he was still worried about his men.

Most times fighting a couple of strong monsters is easier than fighting hundreds of thousands of weaker monsters that swarm you.

While gritting his teeth, he formed wings on his back and set off trying to clear out as many of the monsters as possible while rushing toward the fortress once more.

As blood started dripping from his mouth, he didn’t care; he could not take it easy right now—this was life or death. The more people survived, the better it would be, and it was barely the first wave.

He had no idea how many more would follow, but he assumed at least ten. It’s better to go with the worst-case scenario in situations like these.

While flying over all the monsters, Vira and Mara were wreaking havoc just like Torg, shooting water arrows and forming a giant puddle to make all the monsters move much slower.

Vira, on the other hand, was shooting energy blasts everywhere with a smile on her face, continuously sending happy and excited feelings to Luan, who started grinning while cleaving apart monsters continuously as well.

Like that, he finally arrived back in front of the fortress, and luckily the situation wasn’t horrible. There were, however, quite a few casualties already and a lot of wounded.

Luan saw red, and as blood started dripping from his eyes and mouth, he formed a gigantic water tornado with large earth spikes inside it.

"Mara, Torg!" he shouted, and the two appeared above him, helping him manage the tornado.

Together the trio sent the tornado over to the monsters as they were dragged inside in batches of tens and hundreds; they were all shredded to pieces inside as the once blue tornado turned blood red.

Everyone looked at the giant tornado with their mouths agape; even the division leaders stopped barking out orders and just stared blankly at the giant tornado that was shredding through all the monsters.

"Snap out of it!" Luan ordered, barely staying conscious. He couldn’t have them spaced out now. He had just handed them a perfect opening; if they didn’t grab it, he wouldn’t know how they would survive this single battle.

Amalia, Dimitri, and the other leaders looked at one another and saw that the general was mostly focusing on the monsters further ahead, leaving the goblins close to the river alone.

Likely because it was too dangerous to use that giant tornado too close to his own men.

"The general has given us this golden opportunity to push through and finish off our enemies!" Dimitri ordered a charge straight forward, followed by his whole squad.

The other squad leaders charged forward as well, following his example. Amalia and all the mages squeezed out every bit of mana from their bodies, as one mage fell after the other because of mana exhaustion.

When Luan saw this, he was even more determined to finish every last one of these monsters off. As blood kept flowing from his eyes and mouth, he gritted his teeth, carefully controlling the tornado to not harm any of his own men.

And just like that every last monster was killed; the moment Luan saw that, the tornado vanished. He fell to the ground violently coughing up blood.

Mara and Torg took action immediately, forming a chair together and carefully controlling two large hands formed out of water. Mara put Luan on the chair.

Raymond rushed toward Luan with healers right behind him as they all started casting one healing spell after the other.

Clutching his hands together in front of his face, Raymond started praying so the general would be fine.

He didn’t know what else he could do; if it wasn’t for the general today, they would have been wiped out. And now he was in such a terrible condition because of their lack of strength.

"Tha... Thanks, Ray," Luan weakly said. While he still lay on the chair with his eyes closed, he felt the healing work, but it just wasn’t enough to heal him completely.

It would take a couple of days to fully return to his peak condition. Vira was worriedly rubbing her head against Luan’s, sending distress signals to him continuously.

Even though he hated the sensation, he couldn’t do anything about it. He was too weak to do anything right now.

When Raymond heard those words, he was immensely relieved. "Just hang in there; we’ll make sure you make a full recovery," he stated, the determination visible in his eyes.

"Make sure to dismantle the corpses and sort everything based on uses," Luan squeezed out before he fell asleep.

Raymond nodded and turned around. "Keep healing him, and after you see that his condition has stabilized, go heal the soldiers," he ordered his unit.

Then he went straight toward the other division leaders, who were all slowly returning toward the fortress.

"Take as many corpses with you and start the dismantling work!" Raymond barked one order after the other.

"These are the general’s orders!" he said as he was rushing into the fortress to get the common people and everyone to help.

They needed the food, and the materials like ogre tendons were immensely valuable for their current predicament.
