Secretary's Secret Lover
Chapter 401 Never Let Lance Mess With Her Feelings

Chapter 401: Chapter 401 Never Let Lance Mess With Her Feelings

Yvette’s first reaction was to refuse him.

However, at the sight of his pale face, she held back her words.

Then she asked him, "Have you asked Frankie to come?"

She didn’t think he could drive in a condition like this.

Lance was dumbfounded for a second. Then he smiled and said calmly, "Yes."

His stunning smile, in Yvette’s eyes, was so dazzling. She immediately quenched his hope.

"Don’t flatter yourself. I simply don’t want you to have some kind of accident after you leave here. In such a case, I will have to take responsibility."

Lance suppressed his intention of smiling and nodded.

"Wait here." Yvette turned around and sent the clothes in.

After her shower, Isabel passed by the door and saw that Lance still hadn’t left. She was overjoyed.

Isabel broke free from Kamila’s hands and threw herself at Lance. She pouted and said in a childish voice.

"Daddy, can you coax me to sleep?"

"Belle, he has to..."

Before Yvette could finish speaking, Lance had already held Isabel in his arms.

He looked up and asked in a low voice, "Can I be with her for a while longer?"

Yvette hesitated for a second and could not bear to see Isabel get disappointed, so she nodded.

"Thank you, Mommy." Isabel clapped her hands happily.

"Daddy, I’ll take you to my room."

Isabel and Lance entered the room. Isabel hugged a large stack of drawing books to Lance, asking him to tell her stories.

Lance sat at the head of the bed and opened one of the drawing books to tell Isabel stories.

Isabel was happy and excited. She closed her eyes, and her eyelashes were secretly trembling.

Lance felt that his heart was about to melt when he saw her adorable actions.

He kept smiling as he told her stories.

Isabel might be tired of crying today. She tried to hold on, but her eyelids soon became heavy.

She was simply too drowsy.

She could no longer keep clear-minded, yet she still muttered, "Daddy, I love you."

In an instant, Lance felt something.

He felt so sweet and happy, as if his chest was stuffed full of freshly picked honey.

Words failed him. The joy was indescribable.

He leaned over and gently kissed Isabel’s forehead.

His subconscious action was full of fatherly love.

Yvette had just opened the door when she saw the scene.

It was a very warm scene, but it made her bitter inexplicably.

She thought, am I being a bit selfish?

I only care about my feelings while neglecting that of Belle.

In doing so, I feel that I am placing all the adults’ sins on Belle’s shoulders.

My dogmatism cost Belle what she should have had...

Maybe I shouldn’t have been selfish enough to separate them from each other.

Even though I’m not married to Lance, the fact that I’m the mom, and he’s the dad remains.

No matter what my relationship with Lance is, at least Belle deserves to enjoy the parental love from both sides.

Yvette’s thoughts were all over the place.

She did not notice that Lance had already gotten up.

The moment he opened the door, the two looked at each other.

Lance was taller than Yvette by more than a head, making her more petite and eye-catching.

Lance gently closed the door, his Adam’s apple rolling. He said in a low voice, "Belle is asleep."

"Alright," Yvette answered, not knowing what else to say.

"Is Belle having a mental disorder?" Lance asked.

"How do you know?" Yvette was stunned.

Lance furrowed his brows slightly. "After she falls asleep, her body shakes uncontrollably."

Yvette was silent for a few seconds and said, "She used to be like this when she was a child, and the doctor said it was probably caused by a shock in the womb, but since she has been treated abroad, her symptoms have improved considerably."

Lance thought, a shock in the womb?

These words somehow make my heart ache.

In such a dangerous situation, how did she manage to give birth to the baby?

I don’t even dare to think about it.

Whenever I think about it, I feel suffocated.

Damn me!

I failed to protect her and the baby.

If I could do it all over again, I would protect them with my life.

Lance’s eyes were deep, and he had already made up his mind.

It was not hypothetical, and there were no ifs in the world.

He was determined to stay by Yvette and Isabel’s side.

The deep look in his eyes shocked Yvette. She suddenly came back to her senses and turned to go downstairs in a panic.

Lance looked at her back, and there was loneliness on his handsome face for a second.

Yvette went outside the door, yet Frankie had not arrived yet.

She stood at the door and did not go back inside.

After waiting for a while, she was a little anxious. She said, "Why don’t you give Frankie a call?"

Yet Lance right now behaved like a good citizen who abided by the law. He said faintly, "It’s not safe to talk on the phone while driving. He should be here soon."

Yvette was a little suspicious. Just as she was about to ask something, she heard Lance continue lightly.

"Marvin knows a good shrink. I’ll take you to have a meet with the shrink someday. If you find it acceptable, we’ll take Belle with us together. OK?"

Yvette was slightly stunned and did not refuse his proposal.

She thought, Belle shuts herself off whenever she gets sick. Such a condition rarely occurs, but it will surely be better if she can be cured completely.

Besides, I trust Marvin.

I’m sure the shrink he introduces is very reliable.

She nodded and said, "OK. Let’s go someday."

Lance suddenly curved his lips and smiled.

The warm yellow light hit his handsome side face, and his smile was particularly attractive.

Yvette was puzzled when he said, "Let’s."

She realized what he meant.

She immediately blushed and stopped talking to him.

"Wait here by yourself..."

Before she could finish speaking, he suddenly stretched out his arms and held her tightly.

Yvette widened her eyes, which made her look like a hedgehog, and said angrily.

"Hey! What are you doing?"

Lance did not speak. He simply buried his head deep into her neck, making her feel hot and itchy.

Yvette struggled. "Lance... Let go!"

"Yvette."

She heard his soft voice coming from the side of her neck.

Yvette was startled when she heard him say in a hoarse voice, "Thank you."

She was completely stunned.

She didn’t know why he suddenly thanked her.

Lance was hugging her. There seemed to be water vapor on his eyelashes that dripped onto her neck and burnt her heart.

Yvette felt she was frozen.

She could not believe it.

She thought, is he crying again?

Although there is only one drop.

I am still amazed at his huge contrast and how unreal it feels.

Lance, the high and mighty man, cries in front of me again and again...

After a long while, Lance said in a choked voice, "Thank you for giving birth to Belle."

Yvette’s body couldn’t help but tremble.

For some reason, when the words "thank you" came from him, she felt bitter, her heart ached, and her eyes turned red.

She felt as if time leaped back to the moment when she fell into the river.

There was only one thought she was having back then. She thought, baby, no matter what, I’ll always be by your side...

That was why she said that Isabel was her life.

Because Isabel was indeed the child she risked her life to give birth to.

Thinking of the past, Yvette felt that her heartache was killing her.

The severe pain made it impossible for her to face Lance anymore.

She pushed him away almost without any hesitation.

Under his astonished eyes, she slammed the door with a loud bang.

The redwood door blocked Lance. It was like her heart that shut everyone outside.

For a long time, Yvette stood feebly against the door.

Her eyes slowly grew from pain to firmness.

She told herself that she would never let Lance mess with her feelings again.

Outside the door was Lance.

He was like a walking corpse, standing still for a long time.

Frankie approached him and called him a few times, but he did not respond whatsoever.

Frankie looked at the closed door and then looked at Lance’s pale face. He sighed and persuaded Lance.

"Mr. Wolseley, let’s go back to the hospital for now."

...

In the dead of the night, all was quiet.

After a busy day, Ellen came out of the company and was about to return to her residence.

As she reached the red Maserati, the headlights of a black luxury sports car behind her lit up, and the light was so harsh.

She narrowed her eyes while the car had already stopped next to her car.

The window was rolled down, and Jamie’s handsome face appeared coldly.

His voice was low and cold as he said, "Get in the car."
