Secretary's Secret Lover -
Chapter 402 I Don’t Know Her
Chapter 402: Chapter 402 I Don’t Know Her
Ellen thought, I haven’t seen Jamie for many days since we parted at the hospital last time.
I didn’t think he’d give up that easily, but he never came to me after that.
Is he so easily provoked?
That would be so boring. That would be utterly boring.
I still need him. I can’t afford to make him lose his interest in me so quickly.
Ellen smiled and said, "I’m going home."
Jamie looked at her and smiled, "If you don’t want me to get down and carry you up, get in."
There was a small dimple on the left corner of his lips, which would show up when he smiled. Yet it was so imperceptible that one would miss it without looking carefully.
Ellen was a little dazed. It came to her that she used to like seeing him smile.
When he smiled, the dimple would make him look both shy and handsome.
The dimple that used to symbolize his shyness was now tainted by his bit of evilness.
His smile made people feel that a fatal danger was buried under the disguise of his handsome face.
She was gawking at him. Seeing that, Jamie chuckled. "You look so spellbound when staring at me. Is it because we haven’t seen each other for a few days, and you have been missing me?"
Ellen felt sick, as if she had eaten a fly.
Her face turned cold, and she went to pull the door of her Maserati.
Her hand had hardly touched the door handle when she felt a sharp tug on her back.
Jamie had already gotten out of the car. He held her by the scruff of her neck and said indifferently.
"If you don’t get in the car, I’ll take it as you want me to hold you."
Ellen was speechless and thought, you cheeky bastard.
"Where are we going?" she asked impatiently, frowning.
It seemed that Jamie was in a good mood. He raised his eyebrows and said, "Come with me for a midnight snack."
Ellen was about to curse when her phone rang.
When she saw the number, her eyes darkened. She slapped Jamie’s hand away and said, "Let me answer the phone first."
Perhaps it was because her actions were natural and intimate.
Jamie’s eyes darkened, and he did as he was told.
"Mr. Benson?" Ellen took a few steps forward and picked up the phone when she reached the flower bed.
"Ellen, can you send the materials for the corresponding case to my phone now?"
Ellen said apologetically, "Sorry, Mr. Benson. I am outside. I will send it to you when I go back."
"OK," Gage Benson said.
After hanging up the phone, Ellen thought of how merciless Jamie was when he dealt with Aldo of Gavita Group last time.
Jamie was the reason why she successfully bid for the Hawkins family’s project.
Her next target is the cronies of the Hawkins Group’s CEO.
Yet to gain the CEO’s cronies’ trust, she still needed to cajole Jamie.
She turned around and saw that Jamie was looking at her. She pulled the door open and got into the car expressionlessly.
"You will leave me alone after eating, right? Then hurry up. I want to go back to sleep as soon as possible."
She was obedient, which was a rare thing. Seeing that, Jamie curled up his lips and rested his elbow on the edge of the car window, yet he didn’t start the car.
Ellen asked, "Are we leaving or not?"
Jamie looked at her with a cold gaze. "By sitting in the back, you want me to chauffeur you?"
Ellen glanced at him and switched to the passenger seat, looking good-natured, which was also rare.
Jamie took out a cigarette and habitually wanted to smoke. However, after seeing the woman beside him, he put it down.
Then he took a call from his assistant, who said something to him.
Jamie said calmly, "OK."
Then he started the car.
He said, sounding casual, "You quit?"
Ellen was stunned. Yet she figured that he would find out sooner or later, so she said frankly, "Yes. I’m tired of traveling all the time. I’ve been working in a small company run by one of my relatives recently."
"Is your relative in energy trade?"
Jamie glanced at her from the side and said while sounding unintentional, "It’s a bit similar to what your family did in the past."
Ellen’s heart beat wildly, and she clenched her fists tightly to calm herself down.
Then, it seemed that she was touched, and she said in a low voice, "Yes. It’s the only area I’m familiar with."
Jamie saw the expression on her face and did not ask any more questions. The corners of his mouth were raised slightly, and he said, "I’ll take you to some soup. I know a great soup shop. It has the best soup."
Ellen didn’t know if it was her illusion.
She felt that Jamie slowed down deliberately at the end.
Moreover, the occasional smile on his face made her uneasy.
Ellen comforted herself not to think too much, closing her eyes slightly and stopping looking at him.
Jamie adjusted the rearview mirror and glanced at her.
The smile on his lips was cold and deep.
Soon, the black sports car stopped at an upscale soup shop.
Jamie got out of the car and grabbed Ellen’s hand forcefully.
Ellen felt very uncomfortable. Although she wanted to use him, she still felt as if her skin had been contaminated by his touch.
Such a feeling made her want to cut that part of her skin off.
She realized that even using him was a difficult thing for her.
She shook his hand hard, and then he clutched her hand more tightly and pulled her into his arms. She almost bumped into his chest.
Jamie’s voice was cold, as if he was gritting his teeth. He warned her, "If you move again, I’ll carry you in."
Ellen behaved at once.
If she was carried in, it would be more insufferable than holding his hand.
The two held hands as they entered the soup shop. Ignorant onlookers might think of them as a couple in love.
Yet once one took a closer look, they would find the man deep in thought and the woman unwilling. She didn’t even bother to put on an act.
They sat in their seats.
Jamie did not lead her into a private room. Instead, they sat in the hall. He ordered the waiter, "A chicken soup."
Ellen’s eyes flashed slightly.
She thought, chicken soup...
The first time I cooked for Jamie, I made him chicken soup.
We were both in college at the time. Instead of going to the canteen at night, I brought him food. Chicken soup was the only food I knew how to make, so I brought it to him every day.
And he ate up every day.
He ate it for three months in a row.
Later, he disappeared. I missed him so much that I made myself chicken soup every day.
After eating it for a week straight, I threw up directly.
I can’t imagine how he managed to eat it for three months as if it were something that delicious.
The memories of when we were in love used to be so heartwarming and sweet. Yet now, under such circumstances, they are nothing but ironic.
Chicken soup my ass!
Jamie, what the heck do you mean tonight?
When the soup was served, Ellen wanted to vomit before she even started eating.
She raised her eyes to look for a trash can but was stunned when she saw a man and a woman walking in.
Under the light, the man had one hand in his pocket, a white shirt, and black trousers, his expression cold.
She hadn’t seen Jamie for a long time, and the same went for Kenyon.
Yet Ellen only had one thought at such a moment.
She thought, is this young man with a cold expression really Kenyon?
When the light shines on his handsome eyes, they are as crystal clear as ever.
Of course, it is Kenyon.
Ellen lowered her head slightly, and her expression was seen by Jamie, whose eyes were exceptionally deep and cold.
The girl next to Kenyon suddenly approached Jamie and Ellen and said happily to Jamie, "Jamie."
Jamie raised his eyes and nodded slightly.
Aaliyah McBride looked up at Kenyon and wanted to introduce him, only to find that Kenyon was looking at the woman opposite Jamie.
Aaliyah asked curiously, "Kenyon, do you know her?"
Kenyon retracted his gaze and said in a cold voice, "No."
