Scarlet Descent -
Ch. 69 - The Rose Organization
Wei Wei arrived at the parking lot beneath the building and found Wang Mo’s dedicated cargo truck, which he used for "transporting goods." He unlocked it with the key and eagerly drove toward the location Wang Mo had disclosed. The truck’s cargo hold was filled with empty cages, clanging noisily as they rattled around.
To make it look more convincing, Wei Wei stopped by an unattended construction site and tossed a few rocks into the cages. Now the noise was gone, and everything seemed much more authentic.
Work requires this level of meticulousness and dedication.
He then drove straight along the route Wang Mo had provided, heading eastward through the city.
One must commend the Love Demon system friend—his directions were remarkably detailed.
Driving further and further away from the city center, Wei Wei eventually reached the outskirts of an upscale villa district in the eastern part of the city. Following Wang Mo’s instructions, he circled a small ring road three times with his lights off before finally turning inward and arriving at an imposing villa.
Wei Wei turned off the engine, letting the truck sink into darkness. Quietly, he slipped out of the vehicle and concealed himself in the shadows nearby.
Scaling a nearby tall building, he climbed to its rooftop and hung from its eaves, using their shadow to obscure his figure while silently observing any movement near the truck below.
According to Wang Mo, every time he came here, he would park by this abandoned villa. After turning off the engine and lights, someone would come to contact him within five minutes. All Wang Mo needed to do was hand over the keys and wait quietly—ten minutes later, the truck would return.
The steward who contacted him never showed their face; they would only follow up afterward to evaluate his performance.
In essence, Wang Mo knew only where to "unload" but not where his goods were taken—to another villa? An underground lair? A demonic space? It could be anything.
However, Wei Wei was certain that Scrap Iron City couldn’t possibly contain such a large folded space). Even at its edge, Scrap Iron City lay within the coverage of a Spiritual Barrier.
The Kuafu Group , under recommendations from the Foundation, had been implementing the Spiritual Barrier Plan for over twenty years. It had long since become society’s greatest defense against demonic power erosion.
The Wall of Spirit
The Canopy of Will
Within its coverage area, large demonic force fields couldn’t exist—nor could a folded space capable of concealing an entire villa go undetected. Similarly, high-level Transcendents would find it difficult to infiltrate without being noticed unless employing special means. Corrupted monster hordes would also be repelled by its power.
Even Wei Wei admitted that the Spiritual Barrier Plan was one of humanity’s greatest creations under Foundation oversight—the other being the Training Camp Plan. It seemed like less than five minutes had passed when Wei Wei noticed two figures approaching in the darkness. They appeared to be holding submachine guns and moved with impressive stealth as they neared the truck.
One of them whispered:
"Password?"
"..."
"Today’s New Year..."
Wei Wei thought excitedly but kept his mouth shut.
Seeing no response from inside the truck, one of them grew impatient and peeked into its cargo hold—only to be startled by what they saw.
Signaling to his partner, they quickly opened the back doors of the truck. Empty iron cages and scattered rocks greeted their eyes.
"Something’s wrong..."
They exchanged hushed words before splitting up in two directions. One raised their gun cautiously while scanning their surroundings.
Hanging beneath the eaves in his black robe that blended seamlessly with nightfall, Wei Wei remained undetectable. His gaze followed one figure as they moved northward down a narrow path.
Squinting slightly, he silently flipped onto the rooftop above him and began tailing them with light footsteps. Suppressing his excitement momentarily, red blood vessels appeared in his eyes as everything in his vision became sharper—like seeing through darkness tinged with crimson hues.
Slaughter Intuition.
Wei Wei knew that given how cautious these individuals were about even their parking spot, their base must be well-hidden—and possibly equipped with methods for erasing evidence quickly. Finding their location as swiftly as possible was paramount.
The closer he got, the sharper his intuition became—like reaching a crescendo during applause at an exciting performance. About thirty seconds later...
Wei Wei locked onto a group of villas ahead. Through blood-tinged vision, he focused on one particular villa with tall white walls adorned with numerous surveillance cameras covering every angle outside its perimeter.
Stopping in his tracks with a grin forming on his lips...
The surveillance cameras on those high walls left almost no blind spots—but if he activated demonic powers directly to dash past them...
The cameras would distort due to interference from demonic energy—but doing so would also alert those inside that someone had breached their perimeter.
Instead...
Taking a deep breath...
Wei Wei crouched low... aimed carefully... and whispered:
"Turn away!"
A barely perceptible ripple spread out as two cameras facing him seemed to shudder in fear before subtly tilting away—like shy girls averting their gazes.
With just a slight adjustment in angle, an unmonitored gap appeared along this wall—barely noticeable even on surveillance monitors inside.
Seizing this opportunity swiftly yet silently...
Wei Wei darted forward... scaled the high wall... and perched between two cameras now tilted awkwardly away from him like embarrassed children avoiding eye contact. Peering into the villa grounds below...
His heart surged with excitement as goosebumps prickled across his skin—the concentrated demonic energy emanating from within couldn’t be entirely hidden despite clever concealment techniques.
Taking another deep breath...
He leaped down into its courtyard... hands casually tucked into pockets while whistling softly—a leisurely stroll through enemy territory... Turning a corner suddenly brought him face-to-face with three men dressed in black robes smoking beneath cypress trees—their wide sleeves revealing vivid rose tattoos on their arms...
Blood-Flesh Roses.
Staring harder confirmed it—these tattoos matched perfectly with those worn by members of that demon family from his past encounters...
Happiness overwhelmed him as gratitude toward divine providence nearly brought him to his knees—though he managed not to collapse entirely when one robed man noticed him approaching curiously...
Smiling broadly now as he stepped closer:
"Give me one"
…
...
Inside the mahjong parlor, the old woman covered in black grime sighed deeply, her voice low and somber: "Ouyang, you’re the only one who dares to owe me money, but you’re also the only one who’s willing to hug me so tightly after I’ve become like this..."
"What do you mean by 'like this'?"
"Don’t talk nonsense!"
Captain Ouyang Jian put on a serious face and said, "Elder sister, you look even younger than the girls in the red-light district!"
The old woman silently glanced at Captain Ouyang Jian and said, "I’ll take that as a compliment."
As she spoke, she rolled her eyes halfway and looked toward the plump woman in the distance. Seeing her make an "OK" gesture, she knew the payment had been received. Only then did she turn back to Captain Ouyang with a faint smile and said, "Go ahead, what do you want to know this time?"
Captain Ouyang’s expression turned more serious as he lowered his voice: "Is that thing really in Scrap Iron City?"
"I know you can’t track its movements either, but you’ve always been able to notice more clues than the rest of us…"
"......"
The old woman remained silent and didn’t answer directly. Instead, she asked in return: "If it is here, what would you do?"
"Report it to the higher-ups."
Captain Ouyang immediately replied: "I’m not interested in that thing and haven’t considered my previous task as a task for a long time. Whether it’s here or not doesn’t matter to me. The higher-ups want it; those outside the city want it—that’s their business."
"If things get too chaotic, I’d even be willing to lead my team out of here and avoid getting caught up in this mess..."
"......"
The old woman narrowed her eyes slightly and gave Captain Ouyang a long look.
At this moment, Captain Ouyang’s face showed no trace of his usual playful demeanor—it was completely open and honest.
"That’s something said to be capable of killing gods…"
The old woman glanced at Uncle Gun beside him and said slowly: "It doesn’t surprise me that you think this way. But does everyone around you think the same?"
"They do."
Captain Ouyang replied firmly: "I’m very sure."
"Heh heh..."
The old woman raised her head to look at Captain Ouyang, a mysterious smile slowly spreading across her face.
Her voice suddenly dropped into a deep tone: "If you’re so willing to give it up…"
"Then why did you kill all the combat teams sent by the Wandering Sect during that memory search incident!"
"And even fire twenty-one bullets into one of their nuns?"
"......"
Hearing this, Captain Ouyang froze for a moment before his expression suddenly changed drastically!
