Rosie's Games
Chapter 548 548: Sacrifice 3

This time, Rosalind became even more confused.

Why does it seem like Lucas knew something and was trying to stop himself from saying it? Once again, the scene changed. She saw the goddess do a lot of things for the humans.

By then, everyone called her the goddess.

By then, she was already a cold woman whose eyes spoke of indifference. By her side were nine people, including Lucas and Belisarius. However, the peace that everyone wanted did not come.

This new continent already had its own beasts who had lived in that place and managed to thrive even without the relics and abilities that the humans had on that other continent.

Soon enough, more fighting began. The humans wanted to become the new owners of the continent, yet the beasts seemed to have a mind of their own, fighting back against the ones who wanted their lands.

The scenes before Rosalind changed and changed, and what she saw made her shiver. She saw the cruelty that the humans did to the beasts who were defending their homelands. Again, the peace that the humans hoped to achieve never happened.

Because of this, the goddess seemed to have become even more obsessed with power. She lived in the Howling Mountains, hoping to use the small gap in the barrier as a place to gain more power. She took the beasts from this continent and did some experiments on them, using their bodies as sacrifices to achieve more power.

She wanted more and more, and Lucas stood by her side, saying nothing.

Rosalind observed the goddess's expression as she failed and failed to acquire the power that she wanted to have. She did not know how many years had passed since the humans came here, nor was she interested in the numbers.

All she knew was the fact that the goddess seemed to have become more and more frustrated because of her failure, which should not have happened because she already lost her emotions.

Rosalind could not understand what Lucas was doing. If he truly cared for her then... why was he not stopping her?

Sadly, all she could see was the perspective.

Then the scene finally shifted.

This time, Rosalind did not know the context of the current scene. What she knew was the fact that the goddess was on the ground, and a black dagger was on her chest.

"You - You dare betray me?" she looked at the woman before her. Strangely enough, the goddess did not show any anger or anything else as she stared at the woman who stabbed her.

"You steal the life force of our ancestors..." the woman responded. "It is only right that you give us something that belonged to us."

"You -"

"The dagger is cursed by the demon emperor himself. There is no -"

Before the woman could finish her words, the goddess suddenly removed the dagger from her chest. Her gaze was calm.

"Do you truly believe that the dagger is enough to harm me?" the goddess said. Again, her voice was devoid of any emotion. She blinked at the others who stood behind the woman. "Take it... And leave."

"You have become too greedy for power. How could you kill the people that we loved for your own gains? You promised peace. Where is the peace that you said you wanted to give us?"

"Despite moving here, we never stopped fighting. We never stopped killing, our kids never felt safe. What was the purpose of coming to this place if we were going to once again fight for our survival? We came with you and trusted you... Look at all of us!? While you are cooped up in this place, we always fight for our survival, hoping that we will live for another day for our kids!"

The goddess only pursed her lips in response. Then she flicked her hand, and the woman who stabbed her was thrown against the wall.

"Leave..." she uttered. "You are not someone who can withstand my abilities. Your struggle is futile."

Seeing this, the others almost immediately ran back, without even looking back.

To Rosalind's surprise, the goddess started coughing up black blood when they left. She stared at the black liquid in her hand, her gaze blank. Then she let out a sigh and once again started chanting some spells, healing the wound on her chest.

At this point, Rosalind was already aware that the goddess had the ability to use all the elements that the seven families could use: Light, Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Lightning, Ice, and then there was darkness. For some reason, the goddess never tried to use darkness on her enemies, nor did she try to use it on the ones who fought against her.

She continued chanting and chanting until her eyes turned white. Then, she calmed down.

Rosalind could not help but wonder what those people were thinking. She knew that the goddess was powerful, but she would have loved it if the goddess also showed her the other side.

"The Demon Emperor must be killed," the goddess uttered. "It is the only way."

"The humans would never understand it," Lucas uttered, materializing behind her as though he had always been there. "They've already attempted to harm you once... they'll try again. This time, they may employ something more formidable, something more potent than a dagger blessed by the Demon Emperor."

Lucas tilted his head, the once gentle gaze he had for her now absent. "If they knew that the reason the dagger failed was because you are the daughter of the Demon Emperor—"

"Stop spouting such nonsense," the goddess retorted. Then she turned around and began to walk away.

Surprisingly, the goddess displayed Lucas's reaction as he silently watched her retreating figure. Rosalind couldn't discern what Lucas was feeling on the inside, but she was certain that the warmth in his gaze had vanished.

Once more, the scene shifted. Rosalind frowned when she noticed the strong wind swirling around her. She glanced around and realized that she was now in the midst of what looked like a hurricane.

The hurricane raged on with an unrelenting fury, and Rosalind stood in the center of the tempest. Beside her was the goddess.

Rosalind narrowed her eyes. This was the first time that she felt something so... pure and powerful. Around her was simply chaos, a vortex of wind and rain that threatened to engulf everything in its path. Rosalind felt the force of the winds tugging at her, making it difficult to maintain her balance.

"What are you doing!?" Rosalind asked. As expected, the goddess did not answer.
