Rosie's Games
Chapter 547 547: Sacrifice 2

Once again, her vision changed a few more times before she finally found something interesting.

The goddess gazed at the circle of people around her and spoke, "I could never repay this debt. Thank you for standing with me in this unforgettable moment." In the room, there were a total of eight individuals, including the goddess.

The goddess's eyes welled with gratitude as she observed the circle of individuals who had gathered around her. Her voice carried a sense of reverence as she continued, "Your presence means more than words can express."

"We are here to prevent the demons from harming our kind," a woman with dark blue hair declared. "This is something that we needed to accomplish."

Rosalind frowned when she witnessed this scene. Earlier, she had witnessed the goddess create the barrier.

The humans had safely crossed to the other side of the continent while the seven people along with Lucas and Belisarius as well as the goddess fought the demons.

Now, to ensure their safety from the demons, the goddess had decided to do a very powerful spell, seeking the help of seven others.

However, Rosalind began to feel uncomfortable as this was not part of the snippets she had seen in the past. First and foremost, the snippets suggested that the goddess had given up her abilities because she could not handle them.

It seems that she had become so powerful and chose to sacrifice herself for the other. So, she was utterly confused when she saw this scene.

Not long after, the ceremony started.

The goddess spoke in an unknown language, soon echoed by the others.

Soon enough, the fire began to move.

Rosalind's heart started to beat faster as she watched the goddess's closed eyes. As the fire moved and the wind made itself known, a strange and eerie feeling enveloped the room.

The air thickened with a sense of uncertainty and tension. Seeing this, a shiver ran down Rosalind's spine as she observed the mysterious ceremony unfold before her.

The room, previously peaceful and calm, now crackled with a strange energy. It was as if the goddess's power swirled around, casting an otherworldly light on everything.

Shadows played peculiar tricks on the walls, and there was a faint, haunting sound in the air, even though its source remained unclear.

The people who had participated in the ritual with reverence and awe now appeared both amazed and scared. The room had taken on a mysterious and mystical ambiance, blurring the line between the real world and something beyond.

This created an eerie and unsettling atmosphere that quickened Rosalind's heartbeat.

Not long after, voices hummed inside the room. Then Rosalind watched as the life force of the seven other people in the room was drawn out of their bodies and moved toward the goddess.

Rosalind's eyes widened.

"What— What just happened?"

After what felt like an eternity, the ceremony concluded. The seven other individuals now lay lifeless on the floor.

Meanwhile, the goddess still stood in the middle of it all. The fire was gone, but the goddess remained standing, unmoving. Her eyes were closed, her expression serene.

**BANG**

Lucas appeared in front of her. Seeing the lifeless bodies of the seven other people, Lucas's expression darkened. "What have you done?" he asked.

Slowly, the goddess opened her eyes. This time, the warmth she had shown earlier was gone. She did not appear angry, sad, or happy. Her gaze was one of indifference.

"You—"

"I did what was necessary. What was needed," the goddess said.

Before Lucas could respond, Belisarius also arrived. Just like Lucas, Belisarius's expression turned ugly when he saw the bodies. However, unlike Lucas, he remained silent and observed the tense surroundings.

"You used their life force to make yourself powerful?" Lucas asked.

"They have the blood of sorcery running in their bodies," the goddess replied, her gaze devoid of emotion. "I only did what was necessary to defeat the Demon Emperor."

Lucas narrowed his eyes. Before she could say another word, he appeared before her and grabbed her arm.

"What are you—"

Before Belisarius could say a word, Lucas and the goddess had already vanished. The vision blurred, and Rosalind found herself on the cliff where the goddess and Lucas had talked in the past.

"Must you kill the emperor?" Lucas asked, his tone calm.

"Why bring me here?" the goddess asked. Again, there was no emotion in her tone. She sounded bland and monotonous.

"Answer me."

"Without the Demon Emperor, humans could live freely."

"Are you doing this for the humans? And not yourself?"

"Do I owe you an explanation?" she asked.

Lucas frowned but said nothing.

"Actions have consequences," Lucas said.

"I am well aware," the goddess said. "But this is something that I must do."

"Even at the cost of your emotions?" he asked.

"Even at the cost of my life."

Lucas pursed his lips. "Did you— Did you think about living a life without this?" he suddenly asked.

This time, the goddess only gave him a blank look. She could have given him a direct answer, but she didn't. Instead, she studied his face for a few minutes.

"You must have hated me," she uttered. "I know that your emotions were in chaos simply because you think you love me, but… love does not exist. You are simply confused. Do not hate me because you cannot have me. I was not meant to be with someone."

Lucas said nothing. He simply stared at her as if trying to figure out how his mind worked but failing. "Take me back to the other continent."

"What are you planning to do?" Lucas asked.

"Kill the Demon Emperor."

"Why?" he asked.

"Because— because life would be better without him."

"You are not capable of killing him," Lucas said

"I will find a way."

"Even if that means dying in the process?" he asked.

This time, she did not answer him. Instead, she sighed and said, "You will never understand anything. You are nothing but a selfish and greedy demon. At the end of the day, you were never one of us."
