Rosie's Games
Chapter 546 546: Sacrifice 1

"I am not a demon," the goddess insisted. "Why would you lie to me?"

"Only a higher-ranking demon had the ability to procreate with a human."

"Lies!" the goddess pushed him away from her, tears were already falling from her eyes. Then she bolted and disappeared into the night. Soon enough, Rosalind saw her confrontation with Belisarius.

"Did you— Did you know I was a demon?" she asked. For a few seconds, Belisarius only stared at her. Seeing this, she added, "You knew… you knew all along."

"I had suspicions," Belisarius admitted, his voice filled with regret. "But I was never sure. I never meant to hurt you. I was just concerned. That's all."

The goddess looked into Belisarius's eyes, searching for sincerity. "You were concerned? Concern for what exactly?"

"Humans with the blood of the demon do not survive that long. I did not want you to spend the rest of your life hating the fact that you were one. Look— " he tried to approach her, but she took a step back.

"Please stay away from me."

"I did not mean to hide it. I only wanted to— protect you."

"Protect me from what?" the goddess frowned.

"From yourself," Belisarius's gaze was solemn. "I knew how you hated demons, and I believe the truth could cause more harm than healing, and I— "

"So, you let me kill the demons while hiding the truth?"

"What would the truth bring to you?" Belisarius argued. "You are still human. You are not a demon. Whatever it was— "

The goddess shook her head. "The demons took my mother away from me."

"And that was not your fault. The past belongs to the past for a reason."

"I am not one of them…" the goddess said as she shook her head. "I am not one of them."

Seeing this, Rosalind could not help but sigh. So someone who hated demons so much discovered that she was actually a demon.

That— That is indeed a bit harsh.

Rosalind watched as the goddess left Belisarius stunned.

The vision grew hazy, and then Rosalind saw the goddess standing on a cliff. The night had fallen, and the goddess gazed up at the stars. The darkness wrapped around her like a comforting blanket.

The vision grew hazy, and she saw the goddess standing on a cliff. The night had fallen, and the goddess gazed up at the stars. The darkness wrapped around her like a comforting blanket.

"How did you find me?" she asked without turning to look at him. Then she snorted. "Ah… I should not have asked."

"I knew you would come here to sort through your thoughts."

The goddess wiped away her tears and turned to face him. Her eyes were filled with a mixture of confusion and pain. "My mother died in the hands of the demons," she said. "However, she never once told me… she never told me what I really am."

Lucas said nothing. He just stared at the skies, his gaze pensive.

"I grew up hating demons only to discover that I am one of them…" the goddess spoke.

"What you are…" Lucas said. "Is something that you know." He sighed and looked at her. "Is there a need to follow the rules set by humans to define yourself?"

"I— "

"I was born a demon," Lucas said. "Did you see me conform to the laws set by the demons?"

The goddess said nothing. She blinked and then turned toward the stars.

"I do what I want. I do what makes me happy, and at the end of the day… that's what matters," Lucas said.

"You are one selfish person…"

"Demon…" Lucas said. "I am one selfish demon."

"That was not a compliment."

"I am taking it as one," Lucas said.

This time, the goddess snorted. Then she started chuckling. "Do you think a time will come when the humans will finally get away from the demons?"

"That would not happen… unless, of course, the humans leave this continent."

"Leave this continent?" she asked, frowning.

"The world is vast. Surely, there is a place in this continent that the demons cannot reach, no?"

There was a brief silence, then the scene changed.

This time, the scenes that Rosalind saw before flashed in her eyes. The struggles that the humans experienced against the demons, the fact that they were losing, and… when the goddess approached someone to help her become more powerful.

Slowly, Rosalind watched as the goddess became more and more obsessed with power.

Despite this, the only one who knew that she was someone with the blood of the demon was Lucas and Belisarius. Then finally, the goddess found a way to move to a different dimension.

This, however, seemed to be different than what Rosalind knew. A different dimension? She thought they were located on another continent? Soon, her questions were answered when the goddess talked to an older sorcerer.

"A continent that could not sustain demons?" the goddess asked.

"That place has fewer relics. The demons have sent expeditions but were not able to conquer that place. Rumor has it that the demons are naturally weaker in that continent. Rumor has it that the continent was hiding something that could weaken them." The woman answered. She stared at the goddess, frowning.

"Do not even think of going to that place. You are now a sorceress… sorceresses would not survive in that place."

"Why do you say that?" the goddess asked.

"Because we tried…" the woman said. "That place… is different from this place. The other races who tried to go there failed to return. It could make anyone weaker, and magic… magic would never be able to exist in that place."

The goddess turned silent. Then once again, the vision changed. This time, she was once again having an argument with Lucas. Over the years, the two discovered that they were, in fact, half-siblings.

While they have gotten closer, the arguments about the dark liquid never stopped.

"You have sacrificed too much for the humans," Lucas said. "To make yourself powerful, you gave up your emotions, and now… you wanted to bring the humans to that place despite knowing it would make you less powerful?"

"It would be enough to achieve the peace that the humans deserve."

"Have you lost your mind?" Lucas asked. "Did you perhaps think that you are truly the hero that humanity needed?"

"I would never let the demons enslave humanity."

"Moving them to that place would not change anything," Lucas said.

"But it is a start."

"Once humans occupy that place, the demons could easily follow. You knew that they dwell on evil things. Malice, anger, selfishness, and greed. Humans are well known for having those emotions. It would be easier for the demons to go to that continent with the humans around."

This time, the goddess said nothing. She only looked at Lucas and then she left.

However, Rosalind did not need to listen to the conversation to know what the goddess was thinking. At this time, the goddess seemed to give Rosalind access to her emotions and perhaps her thoughts, as Rosalind knew that the goddess wanted to sacrifice herself… to save humanity.

Again, the scene changed.

"You wanted to create a barrier?" a blue-haired man asked, frowning.

This time, the goddess was surrounded by seven other people.

"There is no guarantee that you would be coming out of that place alive. However... the humans will be saved." The goddess looked at the seven other people. "Are you willing to create the barrier with me?"
