Rosie's Games
Chapter 545 545: Awakening 7

Rosalind's vision unfolded like a storybook. The goddess and Lucas battled demons with bravery. They swung their swords, fired arrows, and used magic to defend each other. Amid these battles, their friendship grew stronger.

They laughed at campfires and shared tales of their past. As days passed, their trust deepened, knowing they could rely on each other, no matter the lurking dangers. They acted like rebels, shielding humans and other races from evil demons.

Their unlikely friendship blossomed with a common goal of defeating wicked demons. However, it seemed Lucas was falling for the goddess, but she did not share these feelings. His affection was evident in how he watched her when she was not looking, teased her, and protected her.

Lucas's jealousy and his scowls at Belisarius whenever he approached the goddess were noticeable to everyone, except the goddess.

"The demons are becoming crueler," the goddess said. Years passed, and she had grown into a woman, standing on a cliff overlooking a burning village.

"The demons will not stop until the continent will submit to them," a woman with blue hair frowned. "They have terrorized humans for years. I wonder if they will ever cease."

"Their greed knows no bounds," another chimed in.

"If there was a way to defeat them," the goddess mused, her voice low, "would you do it?"

"In a heartbeat," a red-haired man replied. "I would not miss that opportunity."

The vision blurred once more, revealing scenes of death, humanity's defeat, war, demon savagery, and the goddess's obsession with power.

"You must stop!" Lucas's voice echoed within Rosalind. She looked around and realized Lucas and the goddess were arguing behind her. "The demonic liquid is harmful to someone like you!"

"But I can use it to slay demons."

"It will change you," Lucas said. "It will corrupt you."

"I can harness its power, and that is what matters," the goddess hissed.

"The darkness from the demon will—"

"You are a demon, born powerful, so you would not understand."

"You—" Lucas frowned.

Hearing this, Rosalind grew confused.

Lucas encouraged Rosalind to use the dark demonic liquid to suppress the goddess within her. But the vision showed a surprising twist: Lucas opposed the idea of the goddess consuming the same dark liquid? Why?

Rosalind struggled to understand this contradiction. The goddess was half-demon, so the liquid would make her stronger.

"Only I can absorb the liquid; it will grant me magic. This magic helps fight demons. I thought you would understand why I chose this," the goddess spoke, her gaze piercing. "You hated your own kind and killed countless of them. You of all people would know why I chose to absorb that liquid."

"The demonic liquid reveals the greatest desire of demons. It makes them more vile, more powerful, yes, but also more vile and dangerous than you can imagine," Lucas said. "You are not one of us. We do not know what harm will come to you if you continue this path."

"Do not you trust me?" the goddess asked.

"This is not about trust and you knew that."

"Do you trust me?"

"I do."

"Then, do you think something like this would affect me?" the goddess snorted. "I might be human and weaker than you but my heart will never falter. My hatred for the demons will stay."

Lucas's gaze turned complicated.

"I see the doubt in your eyes," the goddess said. She sighed and looked away. "I am leaving. I trust that you will not tell anyone else about what you just witnessed. Please do not bring this up again."

With that, she left Lucas alone. Since Rosalind could only see what the goddess saw, she could not witness Lucas's expression as the goddess departed.

Her vision shifted once more, showing the goddess wielding a fiery sword, fighting a powerful demon. Rosalind noticed the effects of the dark liquid on the goddess—she became faster, stronger, and more courageous. The fire around her blazed as she fought and killed demons.

Another argument with Lucas followed.

As the goddess grew more powerful, Lucas appeared angrier. It seemed as if the world itself was against him as he told her to stop consuming the liquid.

"How long will you keep this up?" Lucas hissed. They were arguing again. "Until your anger consumes you?"

The goddess glared at Lucas. "You, Benjamen, are born of malice and lust. You have no right to speak."

"This is not about me."

"It is about you!" the goddess insisted. "You do not want me to be as powerful as you. You always wanted to be the most powerful, the strongest one. You do not want me to have so much power that it intimidates you. You wanted to be the knight in shining armor, saving me from everyone else. Well, guess what?

I need no saving! I can stand on my own and I will continue doing that to achieve my goals!"

She turned to leave, but Lucas stopped her. He grabbed her arm, calling her name. Then without saying another word, she slapped him.

The resounding slap interrupted the silence of the night.

"Do not dare… do not dare lay your hand on me," she hissed, her eyes almost blazing with anger.

"Only demons would develop their abilities after absorbing the liquid," Lucas said.

"What?"

"Demons are the only ones capable of using magic after absorbing the liquid. Only demons would feel good, only them would become even more powerful. To most humans, the liquid is a poison." Lucas said.

"You are lying…"

"I never told anyone what you did. Now, everyone thought you were a goddess but… you are simply one of us. A demon." Lucas said.

"Stop spouting nonsense!"

"Then, asked Belisarius!" Lucas said. "You never told him about this. I knew you never told anyone about it because you were thinking that you might be just like me; a demon. You let them think you are a goddess and that you awoken your ability because of how much you cared for the humans but this is enough. It is going to harm you. And I will not let you do that to yourself."
