Rosie's Games
Chapter 538 538: Distraction!

"Birthright?" Belisarius arched an eyebrow. "You speak as if you know how humans were treated in the past."

"This was all in the past," Ena replied. "Everything has changed. Right now, the demons won't treat humans that way. We will be granted rights and territory. They won't hurt or enslave humans again."

"I never thought you'd be this gullible," Lachlan Blaize taunted. "Did you lose your reason somewhere? Did you shove it up your bottom?"

"Close your mouth, I am not asking for your opinion."

"Then what are you here for?" Lachlan continued. "To reveal that you had something to do with those portals?"

"I came to offer everyone a deal…" Ena smiled, her gaze fixed on Belisarius. He was the only one capable of challenging her in this room.

"A deal?"

"Let the demons come… let the barrier break," Ena declared.

"Or what?" Belisarius inquired.

"Refuse, and you will die," Ena smiled. "Simple, isn't it?"

"You are going to let the demons who fed on humans, the very same demons that attacked us just a couple of days ago, inside this continent?" Martin Lux's face immediately contorted in disgust. "Have you lost your mind?"

"The only ones who have lost their minds are those who would decline this opportunity," Ena smirked. "Don't you want to become more powerful?" She looked at the representatives from the other families. "In that continent, sorcerers exist—powerful sorcerers who can move mountains, create seas of flames, fly, teleport, summon the ocean, and control animals. Do you not want to become like them?"

"Ena, did you shamelessly come here thinking that we would not harm you after declaring that you were working with the demons?" Lachlan suddenly stood, his anger barely contained.

"Do you truly believe you have the ability to kill me?" Ena retorted, her hands crackling with lightning as she gave him a sinister smile. "Do you honestly think that just because you were able to close the portals, you have the capability to harm me?" She started cackling. "How pathetic, Lachlan—BOOM!"

Her words were abruptly cut short by a deafening explosion that echoed through the room. Fire erupted behind Ena.

"Please..." The Emperor, finally showing alarm, pleaded desperately. Who could have foreseen that these two individuals would ignite a battle in his empire? "We are not here to fight. Please, your blessedness, leave... leave us."

However, Ena continued her maniacal laughter, her eyes wild with power. She raised her hand, and a massive bolt of lightning crackled and surged toward Lachlan. But Lachlan expertly dodged the lethal strike.

The room crackled with tension as the sparks of electricity sizzled through the air. Everyone watched in stunned silence as the confrontation between these two powerful figures on the verge of a catastrophic clash.

Just like everyone else, Rosalind took a step back. Belisarius stood in front of her as if protecting her from the upcoming chaos so she was not able to see Ena and Lachlan's reactions.

However, she was already too engrossed in her own thoughts to be bothered by this squabble.

First and foremost, Ena's appearance in this place did not make any sense. Why would she simply walk in and declare that she was the one responsible for summoning those portals? This... this did not make any sense!

She expected Ena to come here and pretend to work with them. In fact, she was already looking for ways to expose the woman using her own abilities.

Who would have thought that Ena would walk in here and declare her allegiance to the demons and even offer them something in return?

Not Rosalind. No. This does not make any sense!

For a few seconds, Rosalind lowered her head as she thought about so many possibilities. There are a few reasons why Ena would come here, and one of them is the fact that everything was simply... a distraction.

A distraction from what?

A loud explosion resounded, causing the room to tremble.

"We need to get out of here," Belisarius urgently advised.

"This feels like a diversion," Rosalind muttered, her voice laden with unease. Rosalind found herself deep in thought. Ena's audacity and willingness to expose her connection to the demons confused her.

It was as if the unfolding drama was only a part of a larger, more intricate plan.

Yes! This was all a part of another plan!

Belisarius frowned at the realization that something far more sinister was unfolding.

"It's simple. You either join me, or you face certain death..." Ena's ominous voice reverberated through the room as she conjured another bolt of lightning, crackling with malevolence. "Do you not want to have the power that I possess now? Do you not want to get stronger?" She sent another bolt of lighting towards Lachlan.

This time, Josephine intervened, her powers flaring to life. With a swift motion, she deflected the electric onslaught, causing it to strike a nearby wall instead.

As expected, the impact of the lightning caused the wall to crumble, and debris rained down from the ceiling, adding to the growing chaos.

The room descended into chaos, the knights of the Aster Empire acting swiftly to protect their emperor. The representatives from other empires moved about, intending to leave the room and seek safety.

Flames and lightning danced inside the room, injuring some and even taking a few lives. The smell of something burning soon filled the air.

"Are you not planning to intervene?" Rosalind asked.

"This is not my concern," Belisarius said, his gaze fixed southward. "It seems you were right. This is indeed a distraction."

"What?" Rosalind asked, but Belisarius didn't need to answer. Out of nowhere, she felt a familiar longing. It was the same longing she had when she closed that portal.

"A portal..." Rosalind and Belisarius said at the same time.

Belisarius swiftly scanned the room, trying to pinpoint the source of the portal's energy. "In the south..." he said.

This time, Belisarius acted. He sent a black ball of energy towards Ena, hitting her arm.

"You- " Ena glared at Belisarius.

"This is my fight. There is no need for you to..."

"Another portal has opened," Belisarius interrupted Lachlan. "This is nothing but a distraction!"
