Rosie's Games -
Chapter 537 537: Birthright
Remember what?
Rosalind was still mumbling to herself as she entered the room filled with members of the seven families. She glanced at them and then at Belisarius, who was walking beside her.
She was actually expecting to see Lucas inside and was a little disappointed when she realized he was not there.
Instead, she saw a few familiar people. There was Martin and Dorothy Lux. Lachlan Blaize and Josephine and of course a few more members and representatives of the Seven Empires and Seven Families.
"Your Grace," Emperor Ranario Duance rose from his seat and walked toward them. "Please, take your seats…" He looked at Belisarius and offered a low bow. "May I know your excellency's name?"
"You may call me Belisarius," Belisarius replied. His response sent a hush through nearly everyone seated at the table. Their gazes shifted between Belisarius and Rosalind.
However, the two of them paid no attention to the commotion and took their seats.
"I believe everyone is here," the Emperor of Aster said in a calm voice. The Seven Families had sent their representatives, and each emperor and a few kingdoms also had their own envoy. This prompt response was because of the appearance of the portals.
"What about Ena Thun?" Lachlan Blaize sneered. "Where is she?" He directed his gaze toward the representatives from the Raston Empire and the Thun Family.
"Your blessedness, with all due respect, her blessedness Ena Thun is currently recuperating. She fought off the demons and ended up in a coma. We, the Rastonians, would greatly appreciate it if you do not disrespect our savior."
Lachlan snorted in response. He turned to Josephine and whispered something loud enough for everyone to hear.
"Now that everyone is present, shall we begin discussing the portals?" the Emperor attempted to dismiss the tension in the room. He was well aware of the underlying conflicts among those present, but his priority was the citizens of Aster. He had no time for petty squabbles.
"As many of you are aware, someone opened a portal, allowing demons access to this continent. I believe it's time to be transparent about this matter. We have been concealing the existence of the barrier, but I intend to inform the people."
"Impossible!" the representative of the Fleur Family exclaimed. "The Fleur family objects to this idea."
"Is it because the Fleur Family is hiding something?" Lachlan chimed in. "The Fleur Family is already in cahoots with the Thun Family, correct? It is intriguing how the Thun Family managed to close their portal while Sloryn suffered severe damage. I have heard that no one has seen Brinley Fleur until now. Could it be that they—"
"Will you close your mouth!?" Brinley Fleur's cousin, the current representative of the Fleur Family, interrupted. Despite not receiving any blessings, he wielded significant influence due to his businesses. "We are not here to antagonize one another. You have no right to speak about the Fleur Family's business."
"Did someone who has not received a blessing dare to tell me—"
"Lachlan, I implore you," Martin Lux finally interjected. "We are not here to quarrel."
"Then why are we here, exactly?" Lachlan asked. "We all know about the barrier. It is time to reveal what the Seven Families did to acquire what we have now. What do you say?"
"You—"
"We are not discussing the Seven Families. We are here to talk about the information we are going to share with the people. We cannot let this incident go without providing them answers. The people of this continent deserve to know the truth," Emperor Ranario declared.
"And if we refuse to cooperate?" Lachlan inquired.
"Your blessedness…" Emperor Ranario was genuinely speechless. How could someone act this way? He knew the Blaize Family was powerful, but he had not expected such arrogance despite the circumstances.
"Do not blame me. Most of you here believed that I was working with sorcerers. You think sorcerers are the villains. Well, would you believe me if I told you that a sorcerer who understood how relics work closed the portal in Korusta? After what you did to my Korusta, did you truly expect me to cooperate?"
Chaos erupted immediately in the room. People yelled and bombarded Lachlan with questions, all curious to learn about the relics used to close the portal.
Observing this, Rosalind sighed inwardly. She was waiting for Lucas to arrive, leaving her with no time to ponder the selfish motives of those present.
"The sorcerers aided us in the past. It is time to inform the people that sorcerers serve the goddess and only sided with the dark lord due to shared goals, which include preserving the barrier and keeping the demons at bay," Lachlan's words echoed in the room. "I suggest we—"
"We are not here to discuss sorcerers," Belisarius interjected. He met Lachlan's gaze and calmly gestured with his hand. Blood began to drip from Lachlan's nose.
"You—"
"Quiet and listen," Belisarius said, looking at Josephine as if awaiting her response. When Josephine remained still, Belisarius scanned the individuals around the circular table. "One of you created the portal to breach the barrier. Someone sought to summon demons to this continent, wreak havoc, and weaken the barrier."
"What does your excellency mean?" the Emperor inquired.
"This plan was not devised in a year or two. It has been in the works for decades, maybe even a century. Someone has secretly been collaborating with demons to achieve their own goal, and I suggest you all work together, or the barrier will crumble."
"If the barrier falls, we will regain the power that was taken from us," Ena Thun's voice suddenly interrupted the discussion. She entered the room wearing a purple robe, a smirk on her face. "Is not that right, Your Excellency?"
"Ena, what are you talking about?" a member of the Gliss Family asked.
"The barrier is not just meant to keep demons from crossing over from the other continent. It is also preventing us from gaining more abilities, from accessing the powers we rightfully deserve, from claiming our birthright."
Rosalind frowned, bewildered by the lunatic's words. What is this lunatic talking about?
