Rise of the Harem King
Chapter 74: Relentless warrior

Chapter 74: Relentless warrior

Sherazade advanced with all her power, attacking her enemy with everything she had. Still, David somehow managed to dodge and continue fighting. Despite the poison, the vacation and the tiredness, his gaze remained focused.

Davi shouldn’t have been able to fight anymore, but instead, he was evolving. And with a precise strike, he pushed his enemy back.

In a fight, he didn’t need power at every moment. Not all his muscles needed to be fortified at the same time.

Davi took a deep breath. His gaze fixed on the target before him. And like an animal moving on instinct, he attacked furiously. There wasn’t even the slightest waste in every swing of the boy’s sword.

Continuously, he fortified and weakened different parts of his body. This way, he could maintain <Love the King> for longer.

Not only that...

Fuck! He’s so unpredictable... like a snake that can strike at any moment. Sherazade thought as she tried to survive the attacks.

Davi moved slowly most of the time, yet his movements could suddenly accelerate.

In theory, he should have been weaker in that state than when he fortified his entire body at all times. However, the unpredictability and perfection in each of his movements made him an even more difficult opponent.

Sheherazade couldn’t help but smile. That speed of evolution, that ability to adapt to different combat situations, and that killer gaze.

Davi was a true predator at that moment. And an absolute genius. For a moment, the woman even doubted her own victory.

And for the first time in her life, she wasn’t the hunter, she was the one being hunted. Her blood boiled, and an insane smile spread across her face.

"Come at me with everything you’ve got, boy!"

She wasn’t the type to just defend herself. And as reckless as it was, she launched herself into the offensive.

Yet, none of her strikes hit their mark.

That damn boy had already grown accustomed to her movement patterns. In mere milliseconds, he could judge where she would aim, then accelerate at the last moment, defending himself perfectly. This went far beyond what should have been possible.

And I thought I had complete mastery over my abilities. She thought with bitter self-mockery. Compared to that boy, the control she had over her own powers was pathetic.

However, the difference in talent, power, and level wasn’t something that could be easily compensated for.

No matter how much of a genius that boy was, there was a limit.

"I acknowledge you. You’re impressive, boy," Sheherazade licked her lips as she activated her final trump card.

Her blood boiled, and her red eyes glowed like those of a predator. She used <Limit Break> that was the most powerful self-buff ability known.

And in the next instant, her speed doubled. It didn’t matter if Davi knew exactly where she would strike; he still wasn’t fast enough to react.

And so, she opened a huge gash across the boy’s stomach. In the next moment, her dagger closed in on his neck, but he somehow managed to block it with his left arm.

Still, he ended up with the poisoned dagger embedded in his arm and several cuts scattered across his body.

There was no way he could survive. His body was already broken beyond comprehension.

Moreover, any normal person would have given up at that point. The wounds, the pain, the constant proximity to death would have shattered anyone’s mind.

Then Sheherazade saw a sword furiously closing in on her neck.

How?

The woman, who had expected to have already won the fight, reacted a bit late, but her absurd speed saved her life.

The blade ended up causing only a shallow cut on her neck. But if she had taken even a second longer to react, her head and body would no longer be connected.

The reason for this was that Davi, seeing her approach to attack, not only managed to defend himself miraculously but also saved energy for one final strike.

What tenacity...

Sherazade couldn’t help but stare in admiration at the man before her. Even with his body covered in wounds, he stared back intensely, thinking of a way to win the fight.

When anyone else would have accepted inevitable death, he still thought of a way to win.

To the end, he was a predator.

However, not all the determination in the world could keep him standing at that point.

Davi fell to his knees, and his breathing became irregular. His vision darkened, as the heat of his body slowly scaled down.

The boy continued to fight furiously against death, but his body no longer had the strength to use.

"It’s really a shame that I have to kill you," Sherazade sighed.

With slow steps, the woman approached the enemy before her. If the world were even a little fair, the one who would emerge victorious that day was that man before her.

If he had more time to develop, he would probably become a true monster. Sherazade felt a mixture of fear and excitement thinking about that man’s future.

At the same time, her gaze became apathetic as she thought she would end that future with her own hands.

And with each step, she got closer to doing it.

For the first time in her life, the woman hesitated about killing one of her targets. However, she was not someone who would let her emotions get in the way of her work.

And facing David, she slowly raised her arm, prepared to decapitate that man. Still, she couldn’t resist asking the question,

"Would you like to become a member of my group?"

"What do you mean?" David slowly raised his head towards that woman.

He barely had the strength to look at her, and the simple act of speaking required a Herculean effort.

"Simple, become part of my order of assassins," she said with a smile. "I can fake your death, so no one will suspect anything."

Sherazade could hardly believe her own words, but she couldn’t resist. Her body burned with the idea of seeing that boy’s evolution. Killing him would be a great waste, and she couldn’t accept that idea in any way.

That went against her own philosophy and everything she had done up to that point, but all of that was just insignificant details compared to the raw talent she had before her.

"You would be perfect for the job!" She declared, as insanity took over her gaze.

Then she danced exaggeratedly, as a light moan escaped her fleshy and sensual lips.

"No one will ever suspect your identity because they will think you are dead."

She could visualize a perfect future. She needed to bring that boy to her side.

"Besides, I can make you really powerful. Fame, money, women, revenge, power... No matter what you desire, if you follow me, I guarantee you can get everything and a little more."

Indeed, it was a very tempting offer. Few people would have the courage to refuse it. And an even smaller number would be insane enough to say no to the person who could take their lives at any moment.

That’s why Davi resigned himself and gave the only answer he could at that moment.

Boom!

A massive explosion caught Sheherazade off guard, and in the next instant, she saw bursts of mana rushing toward her.

She managed to dodge the first one, but the second struck her shoulder, severely injuring her.

For the first time in that fight, she felt intense pain spread through her body. The prolonged use of <Limit Break>, combined with the accumulating wounds, began to take its toll on her.

"You truly are fantastic," she licked her lips once more, feeling her blood boil and her body heat up.

This was the most formidable enemy she had ever faced.

Still, he lay fallen before her. All his energy had been exhausted, and he could no longer move a single muscle. The truth was, his heart could barely keep beating.

"It’s a shame, but I’ll respect your wish to die in combat."

Without further hesitation, she approached the boy and drove her sword into his chest.

And with that strike, the fight was over. The boy’s heart stopped beating, and slowly, the light faded from his eyes.

"I’m going to kill you..." those were the last words he managed to murmur.

Sherazade responded with a mocking smile and turned her back to the corpse. Then, suddenly, she felt a dangerous presence, and her heart froze.

"What’s wrong? It’s almost like you’ve seen a ghost," Alexia, who had jumped out of the enormous crater, moved toward the girl. "I came here to get my revenge."

Sherazade easily dodged the woman’s <Air Slash>, but it wasn’t Alexia’s presence that was worrying her, it was the one that followed shortly after.

"He was telling the truth," Sophia said in a calm tone. "The one who will take your life, without a shadow of a doubt, is that boy." The blonde commented with a smile, then pointed at Davi’s dead body.

For someone like her, death was something quite reversible, so in an instant, a warm light enveloped Davi’s body.

Noticing this, Sherazade’s heart raced, and she realized something: she needed to flee that place. There was no way to defeat Davi in his current state. At least not without sacrificing her own life in the process.
