Return Of The Supreme Beast Tamer -
Chapter 173: It Seems We Are Early
Chapter 173: It Seems We Are Early
[Midnight.]
[Blood Cave.]
Philip stood at the tower, his gaze fixed on the still-glowing cavern entrance.
"Vice Commander! Why don’t you rest? We’ll take watch," Vicod offered, his voice laced with concern.
Philip shook his head, his eyes never leaving the ominous cave. "Three months ago, a powerful beast, the first Sky Stage beast, created that cave with its life force. With its help, countless monsters poured forth. Back then, we were so occupied with the other borders that we didn’t pay attention to this one because of the mountains. By the time we discovered it, it was too late; the monsters were already in the city." He exhaled slowly.
"If it hadn’t been for the legendary Silver Sword, single-handedly fighting all those monsters from the city to this place, Cordelia would have fallen that day. She killed countless beasts, ending the war after slaying the Sky Stage beast, with Divine Stage beasts! Can you believe that?!" He turned to Vicod, who simply shook his head, equally astounded by the tale.
"I know I can’t be like her, not in this lifetime, but at least, I can serve my country! I will fight till my last breath!" Philip declared, his voice filled with unwavering resolve.
Vicod stared at Philip’s back for a few seconds, completely at a loss for words.
BOOM!
"...?!"
Everyone was stunned as smoke shot out from the cave, and the ground trembled violently.
"Come out!"
A red light flew out from Philip’s ring and transformed into a huge snake. Before Vicod’s eyes, Philip leaped off the tower and landed on the snake’s head. He watched as the enormous serpent shot forward, heading directly towards the cave.
"I need to alert everyone!" Vicod shakily brought out his phone and yelled into it. "Red alert! Red alert! Unknown threat! I repeat, red alert!"
The sleeping and awake soldiers alike jumped to their feet. They quickly grabbed their guns, readied themselves, and rushed into the trucks, which swiftly followed behind Philip and his beast.
BAM!
The huge snake stopped fifty meters from the cave, and Philip jumped down, his eyes fixed on the cave entrance.
THUD! THUD!
Heavy footsteps sounded as the trucks stopped behind Philip, and all the soldiers jumped down, quickly getting into positions. Some even lay on the ground, guns, snipers, and RPGs all aimed at the entrance.
Philip flicked his fingers, and the huge lights on the trucks came on, illuminating their surroundings. He stood still, and before their eyes, skeletons marched out, all armed with rusted weapons and armors. The red lights that served as their eyes were fixed on the soldiers.
"What the?" The soldiers were all stunned.
"Undead," Philip sighed. "Someone is truly targeting Cordelia." He muttered to himself, then ordered, "Fire!"
RA-TA-TA-TA-TA-TA-TA-TA!!!
The soldiers instantly opened fire, unleashing countless attacks towards the skeletons.
BOOOOM!!!
An RPG smashed into the first one, instantly sending smoke billowing into the air.
"This is bad!" Philip muttered, feeling more life force signatures coming from the cave.
GRAAAAAA!!
The biggest skeleton, standing eight feet tall, let out a furious roar and shot forward.
GRAAA!!
All the skeletons followed behind, completely unfazed by the guns and missiles.
"Tamers!" Philip yelled, and commanded, "Sky Blast!"
The huge snake beside him opened its mouth and unleashed a beam of light, which shattered half of the skeletons, turning them into dust.
GRAAA!!
THUD!!! THUD!!! THUD!! THUD! THUD!!
Philip and the soldiers watched in stunned silence as more skeletons rushed out from the cave.
"Where is the exit of this cave?!" Philip yelled.
"We don’t know, Vice General! We searched but found nothing!" a soldier yelled back.
"Shit! We must stop these things!" He rubbed his ring. "All of you, come out!"
WHOOSH!!
Two more lights flew out, taking the forms of his other beasts.
"Attack!!!" He roared, and shot towards the skeletons, his three beasts following behind.
"Help the Vice General!" Vicod yelled, quickly summoned his eagle, and jumped onto it. "Let’s go!!!"
SCREECH!!
The eagle let out a shriek and shot into the air, entering the battlefield.
Seeing their guns were useless, the soldiers threw them aside, called out their beasts, and drawing their weapons, entered the battle.
GRAAAA!!
The leading skeleton let out a roar and shot towards Philip, only to be slapped back by the snake’s tail.
BAM!!
It smashed into the charging skeletons, shattering them into pieces.
GRAAAAAA!!
It let out an angry roar and charged forward again.
"Kill it!" Philip yelled, cutting off the head of a skeleton with his sword.
The three beasts nodded and shot towards the skeleton.
"Use your ultimate attack!" Philip instructed, as he leaped backward, dodging a skeleton’s attack. He landed on his feet and lunged forward, separating the skeleton into two halves.
The beasts stopped, opened their mouths, and unleashed three concentrated blasts towards the skeleton.
"....?!"
BOOOM!!!!
The skeleton was reduced to nothing but dust.
"Yes!" Philip nodded with a smile and turned to the soldiers, who were busy shattering the skeletons. "Keep it up! We will get through this!" He yelled at them.
"Yes!!!" The soldiers yelled, but before they could take a step forward, the ground trembled violently, knocking some off their feet.
BOOOOM!!!
The beasts froze and quickly rushed back to their masters, surrounding them in a defensive formation.
".....?!"
With confusion, the soldiers all turned their heads to the cave, seeing a fifteen-meter-tall beast walking out—a huge skeletal bull with three horns and red eyes.
"....?!"
"That... That’s a Sky Stage Beast!!" Vicod, who was in the air on his beast, yelled.
"Fuck! Retreat!" Philip yelled, and jumped onto his snake, which turned around and rushed back to the base.
The soldiers all got on their beasts and also rushed back.
"Hehehehe! Where do you think you are going?!" The bull spoke. The next moment, its three horns glowed and shot three beams of light into the sky, which created a barrier around them, sealing all the soldiers inside.
"No human will leave here alive!!" It muttered. The humanoid skeletal bull picked up the bones on the ground and smashed them together, forming a huge skeletal axe.
"Come and fight, humans!!" It yelled.
Vicod landed beside Philip, his face grim. "Can we win, Vice General?" he asked.
"I only have one Divine Stage beast, and none of you have even one! What do you think?!" Philip yelled in annoyance.
"So... So are we going to die here?" Vicod stammered.
"No one is dying! I won’t lose anyone again!" Philip took a step forward, walking towards the huge bull and the hundreds of skeletons before it. "You bastard! I won’t back down! If you think you’re strong enough! Show me!" He yelled.
HISSS!!
GRAAAA!!
GRAAAA!!
His three beasts behind him provoked.
"How fascinating!!" The bull raised its axe with both hands and infused all its life force into it. "This attack is enough to wipe you all out!!!" With a horizontal slash, it sent a powerful hundred-meter-long energy blade, made of pure darkness energy.
"Assist me!" Philip yelled. The three beasts infused their powers into Philip, who used it and created a huge barrier before the soldiers and himself.
BOOOOM!!!
The energy blade smashed into the barrier, instantly creating cracks on it.
’What the fuck! No! No matter what happens, I won’t back down!!!’ He thought, adding more life force into the barrier.
"Oh... You stopped it," the Bull muttered in surprise, and clenched its hand, adding more force to the attack.
CRACK!!!!
"THIS?!" Philip gritted his teeth and added more energy to it. ’It won’t last!’ He thought.
WHOOSH!
"...?!"
To his shock, the cracks instantly closed. He looked over his shoulder, seeing the soldiers and their beasts all infusing their energies into him.
With a smile, he turned back to the Bull. "What is a Sky Stage beast?! If we unite! You can’t do anything!!"
"So delusional." The Bull pointed its axe at them. "Destroy them! They won’t be able to infuse the shield and defend themselves at the same time."
GRAAAAAAAAA!!!!!
The skeletons let out loud roars and lunged forward, charging towards the soldiers.
’If they get to us, we are dead.... If we stop infusing the shield, it will shatter, and we will all die...’ Philip thought with clenched teeth.
WHOOSH!!!!!
Everyone only saw a flash, and the energy blade shattered into smoke. The light continued moving, shattering all the frontline skeletons, and in seconds, more than a hundred were on the ground.
"....?!"
Philip, the soldiers, and even the Bull were stunned.
"It seems we are early." They all turned to the thirty-meter huge golden dragon, staring at the guy who sat on its head.
"Christopher?" Philip was stunned.
"Oh my god! That is a Sky Stage Beast?!" Vicod exclaimed.
WHOOSH!!
They all turned to the light which had shattered half of the skeleton army, as it flew towards Christopher and took the form of a red and white winged tiger with two horns on its head.
"Are you done?" Christopher asked, while Lucas nodded.
"Almost," she said.
"Another Sky Stage beast?!" The soldiers and Philip were dumbfounded.
WHOOSH!!!
They turned towards the skeleton, seeing as a Reaper rose from the ground, with a blood-red scythe.
"Three Sky Stage Beasts!??!!!!"
"What the fuck!!!!"
"Who the hell is this young man!?!!!"
"He looks familiar!! Yes!! He’s the one who won the academy competition for his team and also gained the title of national scorer!!" One yelled, while the others finally nodded their heads.
"Wow!! He is a lot stronger than even the late Supreme Tamer," Philip muttered to himself.
"Okay Grim... take care of those things," Christopher said, lying on Lazarus’s head, not even bothered about the skeletons.
’Sending only one?’
Philip turned to the Reaper, and was stunned speechless.
