Return Of The Supreme Beast Tamer -
Chapter 174: Let’s Have A Good Fight!
Chapter 174: Let’s Have A Good Fight!
Philip and his soldiers watched, stunned, as Grim, with a single, fluid swing of his scythe, unleashed a blade of crimson energy.
"What the fuck?!" Philip exclaimed, utterly flabbergasted.
The energy blade sliced through the air, colliding with the advancing skeletons. They disintegrated instantly, turning to fine dust. Unimpeded, the blade continued its trajectory, smashing into the massive skeletal bull, sending it reeling five feet backward.
"....?!!"
The colossal bull lowered its head, its gaze fixed on its ribcage where a network of cracks now marred the bone.
"How dare you!! I will have your—"
WHOOSH!!
Everyone froze. The skeletal bull’s head cleanly separated from its neck, plummeting to the ground with a sickening thud.
"Did! Did that Reaper just take down the Bull with one strike?!" someone muttered, their voice laced with disbelief.
"Wow! Such strength! Truly a sky stage beast!"
"I can’t even believe I’m seeing one."
"Same!"
The soldiers murmured among themselves, their voices a mixture of surprise and profound awe.
Christopher sat up with a languid yawn, a frown creasing his brow as he stared at Grim.
"Two hits?" he asked, the question a clear expression of his disappointment.
".....?!!"
The soldiers collectively turned to the young man as if he’d sprouted a second head. Did he truly expect a sky stage beast to fall in a single blow?
"The fight was boring," Grim stated, retracting his scythe.
".....?!!"
The soldiers swiveled their heads back to Grim, their faces a tableau of utter confusion.
"I thought he could dodge," Grim mumbled, his gaze fixed on the skeletal remains of the bull.
"This?!"
"Yes! These two are crazy!"
"Like Master, like beast."
"Yes!"
The soldiers continued to whisper amongst themselves, while Philip turned to Christopher.
"Thank you, but how did you know we were in trouble?" he inquired.
"I’m here to hunt."
"...huh?" Philip was stunned by the blunt reply.
They all watched as Christopher effortlessly leaped down from the golden dragon, landing calmly on the ground.
"Hunt?" Philip repeated the word, confusion still clouding his features.
Christopher turned his head towards the glowing cave, rubbing his ring. Grim, Lazarus, and Lucas vanished back inside.
"No one should follow me... You can stay here."
With that pronouncement, he walked towards the luminous cave entrance, not sparing another glance for Philip or the soldiers.
"Vice commander, are we just going to listen to him?" Vicod asked, breaking the silence.
"What can you do?! Can you stop him?" Philip countered, a frown deepening on his face.
"...?!!"
Vicod remained silent, not uttering another word.
_____
Christopher reached the cave’s entrance and paused, asking, "Are you sure about this?"
Tiamat materialized beside him, her phantom form shimmering in the night.
"Of course... I am never wrong," she replied confidently.
"So you can feel the energy signature of an ancient beast here?" he pressed.
"Yep! I don’t know how strong it was when it was alive, but I know it’s a powerful beast, at least a Celestial."
"Huh?!! You sure about that?!" Christopher whispered, genuinely shocked.
Tiamat turned to him, a slight frown on her face. "Are you stupid?! This beast died here more than 100 years ago, and I can still sense its life force, what do you think?!" she exclaimed.
"Okay. Okay!" Christopher paused, then continued, "Huh? If I remember correctly, this thing here was created by a beast, which assisted the monsters in the raid, then... How did a beast die here for such a long time, when the cave was created just three months ago?"
"That’s strange... What if the history was wrong?" Tiamat mused.
"Hmm... You might be right, the beast didn’t create this cave, it might have discovered it... Do you think it was sealed, and that beast opened the seal?" he hypothesized.
"That’s highly possible, but who’s strong enough to seal a celestial stage beast... I know the spirits didn’t seal anything here," Tiamat said, lost in thought.
"Standing here won’t get us anywhere!"
Christopher took a step forward, but an unknown force slammed into him, pushing him a step backward.
"What the fuck?!" He was stunned.
Tiamat floated towards the entrance and placed her hand on it. Christopher watched as her hand effortlessly passed through the transparent shield. She removed her hand and turned to him.
"It seems only the dead, or spirits can pass through," she stated.
"Dead and spirit? Now I’m curious," he muttered, his gaze fixed on the entrance.
"Be grateful I’m here."
Tiamat snapped her fingers, and a soft blue light enveloped Christopher.
"Now try it," she instructed.
Christopher took a deep breath and exhaled, then walked forward, easily stepping into the cave. Tiamat nodded and followed closely behind him.
"Did?! He went through?!" Vicod was speechless.
’Is that even possible?! No tamer, awakener, or even ordinary people can enter... Even a Beast can’t enter that cave after it started glowing... Then how did Christopher enter? What is he hiding?’ he thought.
___
"Remember, you don’t say anything, don’t even utter a word, we can communicate through our link," Tiamat warned.
’Why is that?’ Christopher asked telepathically.
"Well... You will be detected by the energy, and will be torn to pieces, even I won’t be able to save you then," she explained.
’WHAT?!!! WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME THIS BEFORE I ENTER?!!!’ He screamed inwardly.
"Stay calm, as long as you don’t utter a word, all is good," Tiamat said, rolling her eyes.
After walking for several minutes, the two came to a stop, staring at the two diverging paths before them.
’Where to next?’ Christopher asked, mindful of Tiamat’s warning.
"The skeletons came through here!" Tiamat pointed to the right path, then moved her finger to the left. "While the energy signature is coming from here."
Christopher nodded, stepping forward, with Tiamat following closely behind him.
_____
[Outside the cave.]
"Should we go in?" Vicod asked, staring intently at the entrance.
"No... We will wait here, and see why he entered," Philip said, entering one of the armored vehicles and closing the door.
The soldiers exchanged glances, while Vicod shrugged and walked towards the entrance.
"What are you doing, Sergeant Vicod? The vice commander asked us not to enter," a soldier whispered.
"I’m not entering, just taking a closer look," he replied, continuing his walk.
The group looked at one another but remained still, simply observing him. Philip, seated in the vehicle, raised an eyebrow but said nothing.
Vicod stopped in front of the cave entrance and placed his hand on it. The moment his skin made contact with the shield, a powerful torrent of fire shot out from the cave and slammed into him.
"AHHHHHHHH!!!!"
The soldiers stood in shock, utterly terrified. They could only watch as the fire consumed him, and before their eyes, Vicod collapsed to the ground, completely burnt.
The men looked at one another, their eyes silently asking: ’Who will go and check up on him?’
None of them uttered a word, none of them moved; they all stood frozen, staring at Vicod, who lay motionless on the ground.
Philip sighed, got down from the armored vehicle, and walked towards him. He stopped before Vicod, who was clearly unconscious, his entire body and clothes charred. Philip squatted down and checked his pulse, then froze.
"This?"
"What happened to him, Vice commander?!" The soldiers yelled, maintaining their distance.
"Come here!! I need two people!!"
The soldiers looked at one another, hesitating.
"I won’t ask twice!" Philip’s voice turned cold.
Two soldiers quickly dropped their guns, rushed forward, and helped Philip. The moment they touched Vicod’s body, his skin peeled away. Philip and the two soldiers were stunned, both turning to Vicod, who remained utterly still.
Philip checked his pulse again. After a few seconds, he exhaled and sat down on the ground, staring at the entrance.
"He... He is dead."
"....?!!!"
The soldiers were all flabbergasted. They all subconsciously turned their heads to the entrance, their faces filled with terror.
"One attack?" a soldier muttered in horror, taking an even greater distance from the entrance.
Philip rubbed his face and stood up. "Come on, get something, stretcher, body bag, or anything, now!"
The two soldiers nodded and quickly ran away, eager to be as far from the cave entrance as possible.
Philip moved his gaze back to the entrance. ’What did you use, Christopher?! Even an elite level tamer couldn’t even survive one attack.’ he thought.
___
Christopher came to a stop, now staring at a colossal wall before them.
’You’ve got to be kidding me,’ he thought.
"All we need to do is bypass this without using any powerful skill," Tiamat explained.
’And why is that?!’ Christopher asked with a frown, but before Tiamat could reply, he answered his own question:
"I’ll be detected, and my body will be torn apart?" he asked out loud.
"...?!!!" Tiamat was stunned. "You?!"
BOOOM!!
Christopher looked over his shoulder, while Tiamat spun around.
GRAAAA!!
Their eyes widened in shock as a terrifying beast with a lion’s head, goat’s body, and a serpent’s tail, formed entirely from life force, materialized before them.
"A Chimera!!" Tiamat exclaimed.
"GRAAAAAAA!!!!"
The life force beast let out a fearsome roar and lunged forward at Christopher.
"Hehehe... So cute."
"...?!!"
Tiamat and the beast were stunned, hearing his words. Even the beast halted, staring at him in confusion.
"You are a Chimera... One of the strongest fire beasts in the world... Don’t think you are unbeatable."
"What are you doing?" Tiamat asked, bewildered.
"Been searching for so long for a battle, now this is a good one." He stretched his hand towards Tiamat, who turned into a blue light and entered his body.
"I’ll have to borrow your strength for now," he said.
"...?!!"
The beast was stunned as blue hair appeared on Christopher’s head, blending with his brown. His eyes turned a vivid blue.
"Hehehe... Let’s have a good fight," he said, summoning his sword.
