Chapter 161: Academy Competition 7: You Are In Control
"Okay then... You asked for this."
Addison’s muscles bulged, and before everyone’s stunned eyes, she began to grow. Her uniform ripped away as white fur sprouted across her skin. Christopher watched, mesmerized, as her nails elongated into razor-sharp claws, her face jutted forward, and her teeth grew into fearsome fangs. Finally, a tail burst forth.
In less than ten seconds, Addison had transformed into an 8-foot-tall werewolf, a terrifying sight to behold.
"GRAAAAAAA!!!"
Animalistic rage took over. Addison was gone, replaced by a mindless beast.
"Oh my goodness!" The governor gasped, shock etched on her face.
"That’s why she backed down! That is a Master-level wolf! With a beast ranking, it will be a mythical stage beast!" The commander exclaimed, a hint of surprise in his voice.
The Vitality Academy students were initially silent, then erupted in a cacophony of shouts:
"That is nothing!!"
"Yes!! Master Christopher can take on even a Divine stage beast with his beast!"
"What can she do?!!"
"Come on, Master Christopher!! Show her who’s the boss here!!"
"Yes!!"
Their cheers echoed through the arena, but Christopher’s next words silenced everyone, including the colossal white wolf before him.
"She isn’t worthy of my beasts... I will take care of her alone."
"...?!"
"I thought they could use beasts in this round? Why isn’t he using his beasts?"
"Yes... That Rhino is strong. Even if she is a mythical stage, that beast can take her down."
"Maybe Christopher has a plan, let’s wait and see."
"Yeah... A plan! Let’s see."
The Vitality Academy students, though perplexed, decided to trust Christopher’s judgment.
"GRAAAAA!!"
The werewolf let out another guttural roar and lunged forward, her claws tearing deep gouges into the ground.
"GRAAAAAAA!"
She leaped into the air, a white blur descending rapidly towards Christopher, her massive claws smashing downwards.
BAM!!!!
"...?!!"
The werewolf and everyone in the arena were stunned, their gazes fixed on the shield that had materialized before Christopher, completely blocking the ferocious attack.
"GRAAAAAAA!!!"
The werewolf roared in enraged frustration, relentlessly smashing into the shield. She increased her speed, striking with all her might and strength, but not a single crack appeared on its pristine surface.
"Hahahaha! You see that! No matter how strong your student is! In front of Christopher! She is just a plaything!" Howard bellowed, a triumphant laugh escaping his lips. This was his moment, and arrogance was his chosen weapon.
The woman across from him frowned at his words but remained silent.
"GRAAAAAAA!!!"
The beast let out a final roar, as a menacing red light enveloped its claws. With a powerful downward slash, it slammed into the shield.
BOOOM!!!
Smoke and dust erupted, shrouding both figures in a swirling vortex.
".....?!"
The werewolf’s eyes widened in disbelief. The shield remained intact, not even the smallest crack marring its surface.
The beast shook its massive head and stumbled backward. Regaining its footing, it leaped away from Christopher.
’Hmm... Werewolves are arrogant, so seeing it can’t break through my defense, its resistance almost crumbled... Okay then, let’s see how strong you are in hand-to-hand combat!’ Christopher mused, dropping his shield and cracking his neck.
The Werewolf glared at him with bloodlust. The moment it noticed the shield had fallen, it lunged, appearing directly in front of Christopher and slashing with its claws.
Christopher bent his body, effortlessly dodging the attack. He clenched his fists, channeling 40% of his strength, and with a swift motion, he punched the wolf squarely in its lower abdomen.
"GRAAA!"
The beast flew backward from the force of the blow, smashing heavily onto the ground.
Christopher stood upright, walking calmly towards the beast, who quickly scrambled back onto its feet.
"An ordinary human wouldn’t survive that punch just now, but you did... Even with one of your kidneys damaged, you will simply repair it." He stated, his voice even as he continued to approach.
The Werewolf stared at the seemingly ordinary human walking towards it, then let out another roar, unleashing a sonic wave towards Christopher.
"If you were someone else’s opponent, they would have a hard time facing you."
Christopher snapped his fingers, and the sonic wave hurtling towards him shattered into nothingness.
"It is your bad luck you met me." He snapped his fingers again, and ten water pillars erupted from the ground, shooting towards the werewolf.
"Today, I will show you that you are nothing but an enraged human!"
BAM!!
The first water pillar slammed into the wolf, sending it meters backward.
It shook its head, standing up again, only for the second pillar to smash into its face, slamming it to the ground once more.
Then the third, fourth, fifth... until all ten water pillars had crashed down on the wolf, who lay utterly beaten on the ground. At that moment, the beast understood that not everything was under its control. No matter how angry or upset it was about being sealed inside this girl, it accepted its fate.
Christopher stood before the wolf, staring into its glowing red eyes. The Werewolf moved its massive head towards Christopher, its gaze fixed on his pair of hazel eyes.
"You have two choices," Christopher said, his voice low, audible only to the wolf.
"Submit to the human in you, or die here? Trust me, I know a way to separate both of you."
He said, lying without batting an eye.
The wolf stared at him for a few seconds, then slowly closed its eyes.
Everyone watched as the massive wolf began to shrink, transforming back into Addison.
She blinked, then looked up at Christopher, who offered her his hand.
She stared at his palm for a few seconds, and after some hesitation, she took it. Christopher helped her up. Surprisingly, she was still in her uniform, even after the transformation.
Addison nodded, then looked at herself in surprise. She raised her palm to eye-level, and with a slight grip, a wave of red energy spread outwards.
"How... How did you know?" she asked, turning to Christopher, her eyes filled with confusion.
"You don’t have to worry about that. All you need to know now is... you are in control."
With that, he turned and walked away.
"I... I surrender!" Addison said in a low voice, the promise she had made to Miriam resounding in her head, but she pushed it back.
Christopher looked at her over his shoulder as she continued:
"If you ever need any assistance or help in the future, you can let me know!"
Christopher nodded and continued walking away.
The announcer stared at them in confusion as the two walked off the stage. He remained silent until everyone’s gaze was on him before he finally nodded:
"Okay!! Christopher won this round, earning his team 2,000 points!!" He yelled, and the Vitality Academy students cheered loudly.
"Next one on the screen!"
Everyone turned their heads to the screen as number two appeared.
"Tori!! Vs Advika!!!" He yelled.
".....?!"
The whole arena was stunned. The renowned Fire Queen versus the girl who had been spared—who would win?
"Hahaha! Christopher defeated your student without even using his beast! And you said she is strong!" Howard laughed.
"You—!"
"—You what?! You saw it! Christopher was holding back! Today, my academy will claim the number one place!" He boasted.
"Hold on, old man." The Dean of the Guardian Academy cut him off. "My student is up next. Do you think that girl will win?"
Howard turned to look at Advika, then back to the Dean.
"Let me tell you something about that girl... When she entered the academy a week ago, she was just an intermediate-level tamer... But now, she is an Elite level! And a high stage at that!" he revealed.
"...?"
The two Deans were flabbergasted. Such cultivating speed... This girl truly must be a monster.
"Who is that?" Xing asked, turning her head to Phoenix.
"Why are you asking me! Shouldn’t you know that?!" Phoenix spat out.
"Oh yeah." Xing chuckled with a playful smile, then stated:
"Advika Evander, born from a small family with no background whatsoever... She and her little sister, Sylvia, are the only daughters of Mrs. Anna and Mr. Evander... Her father mysteriously caught an incurable sickness which is still troubling him. Advika, as the eldest, was placed in school, as the oldest, their parents expected her to have all the knowledge needed, and maybe she will find a way to cure her father... One fateful day, she came in contact with the Boss, and so... they have been together till now." Xing’s detailed explanation caused Sunny and Phoenix to raise an eyebrow.
"You?"
"Why do you look so surprised, Phoenix?! You’re the one who asked for all the information on everyone closest to the Boss." Xing said, folding her arms across her chest.
"True..." Phoenix sighed and turned back to the arena.
"Can she win?" she asked.
"No offense, but her mastery of the fire element is a lot higher than yours," Xing said, adding, "I think she will win."
"Same." Phoenix nodded and relaxed in her seat. "I want to see more of her skills; she might be a worthy student."
"I don’t think that is possible," Xing said, drawing the attention of both.
"Why is that?" Phoenix asked.
Sunny, who sat between them, exhaled, not knowing what to do with two talkative people on either side of him.
"She is the Boss’s personal Secretary and also first disciple."
".....?!!!"
The two were stunned into silence.
Advika walked forward and stood before Tori.
"You won with that butterfly because your opponent was careless. Don’t expect to use that on me!"
Tori raised her hand and rubbed the earrings on her ears. "Come out."
Whoosh!
A green light flew out from the earrings, and before everyone’s astonished eyes, a huge black mountain lion appeared before her, standing 8 feet tall.
"This is my weakest beast, a Legendary stage with a combat strength of Lv7."
Did she just call that her weakest?
