Chapter 103: Take Down The Bounty

The color drained from every face in the room upon hearing her words.

The Five Beast Kings! Their reputation was legendary, their names whispered in fear throughout the underworld. These five individuals held the top six positions on the most-deadly international ranking board, with an enigmatic figure occupying the coveted number one spot.

’Christopher must have an extraordinary background, but we can’t disclose the names of our clients... But can we face the wrath of the Five Kings?!’ Joker’s fists clenched beneath the table. He spoke, his voice strained. "You know we can’t do that. We will take down the bounty, but we cannot reveal the information to you."

"Oh..." Phoenix’s voice took on a chillingly dangerous tone. "What if he is the one holding the top spot on the international ranking board?" she inquired.

"...WHAT?!!!"

Joker shot to his feet, his mask unable to conceal the shock that contorted his unseen features. "You! What are you saying?!" he bellowed into the phone, while the ten assassins around the table exchanged bewildered glances.

"You heard me. Now give me a name, or your Skull won’t see the next day!"

Joker was speechless. He looked at his members, seeing their frantic nods of agreement. With a defeated sigh, he finally conceded. "Okay... The one who placed the bounty is Dracula."

Silence hung in the air for a fleeting moment before the call disconnected abruptly, without a word of acknowledgment.

"Boss, how powerful is this number one in the ranking?" one of the assassins ventured to ask, his voice barely above a whisper.

Joker slumped back into his chair, the weight of the revelation pressing down on him. "The number one on the international ranking board is strong enough to wipe out a whole city. They are clearly unstoppable..." he said, his voice heavy with dread.

"So powerful?"

"How can someone be so powerful?!"

Murmurs of disbelief rippled through the room.

"Didn’t you all discern something from her words?" Joker asked, his gaze sweeping across their stunned faces.

"Something?" The group looked at each other in confusion.

"She said if we don’t take down this bounty in two minutes, all five Beast Kings will be after us. And she also mentioned the number one... This all hints at something, something Skull cannot handle."

He fixed his gaze on Christopher’s image on the screen. "This young man is the number one holder on the board and also the leader of the Five Beast Kings," he stated, his voice filled with a grim realization.

"What?!"

"So young!"

"My goodness! Now I understand why Dracula placed the bounty. He might not be able to face him!"

"But isn’t that sending sheep to a lion?! He is simply sending those assassins to their deaths!"

"He is such a bastard! At least he should have provided more information on the target!"

"True!"

"Silence! We just almost offended someone beyond our comprehension! Now, what are you fools waiting for?! TAKE DOWN THE BOUNTY!!!!" he roared, his voice cracking with urgency.

"Yes, Boss!"

The group scrambled to their feet, frantically pulling out their phones to make calls.

Joker clenched his fists, his unseen eyes fixed on Christopher’s youthful face on the screen. ’Thank goddess we have some contact with Phoenix, because if Devil Hand, Iron Grip, or Ghost got hold of this, we wouldn’t even have time to take it down... That is... if we were still alive,’ he thought, a shiver running down his spine.

[Airport Entrance.]

Phoenix stared at the photo on her phone, her eyes glued to the digital timer ticking down. Just moments before the two-minute mark, a notification popped up on her screen.

[Bounty has been taken down by Skull... All inconvenience will be handled by us.]

She let out a soft sigh, a sliver of relief washing over her, and switched off her phone. "Christopher Valhalla? Boss..." A small, rare, and beautiful smile touched her lips.

"I am here." She looked up, her gaze meeting someone in the crowd.

"Wow... A beauty! You want a ride? Come with me, I have a good ride!"

Phoenix’s eyebrow arched, her smile vanishing as quickly as it had appeared. She slowly turned her head to the side, her eyes narrowing.

Five men were swaggering towards her, their posture radiating menace. They were clearly thugs, and the reactions of those around them spoke volumes of their reputation.

"Oh no, they are members of the C+ gang."

"Shhh... Let’s go, we don’t want trouble!"

"Yes... Go quickly!"

"What a pretty lady, and it seems she just arrived in Cordelia. Just a pity."

"Move! Think about yourself!"

Phoenix listened to the hushed whispers around her. The mention of the C+ gang sent a chill down her spine, not out of fear, but out of a simmering rage. Her eyes turned glacial.

"C+?"

She raised her phone, intending to make a call, but before her finger could touch the screen, one of the men snatched it from her hand.

"Hey... The cops won’t help you, sweetheart. Come on... Why don’t you come with us? We’ll take good care of you—"

SLAP!

The sound of a resounding slap echoed through the airport entrance, the force of the blow sending the thug sprawling on the ground. Phoenix caught her phone effortlessly in mid-air.

"You!!"

"Senior brother!!"

The remaining four thugs froze, their expressions a mixture of shock and fury.

"You! How dare you?!" the fallen thug roared, pushing himself up, blood trickling from his nose and mouth. "And how the hell are you so strong?!" he demanded, his eyes blazing with disbelief and anger.

"Complete fools," she muttered under her breath, her gaze contemptuous. She swiftly dialed a number.

"Come to Cordelia Airport in five minutes," she commanded into the phone, her voice leaving no room for argument. Without waiting for a reply, she disconnected the call.

"You!! Do you think I am scared of you?! Who the fuck do you think you are?!" the injured thug spat, wiping blood from his lip.

"Teach this bitch a lesson!!!"
