Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World
Chapter 249 249: Mourning

The abstract clump of metal tore through the earth wall like a stream of golden warrior bees. Smashing through the last wall, they immediately went after the paralyzed and defenseless Earth Elephant.

The Elephant's eyes were wide open as the small pieces of gold metal struck the center of his forehead one after another.

Sparks flew for a moment as the Earth Elephant's thick cement-like skin and thick skull put up some resistance, but it was only for a moment.

Blood and brain matter splattered everywhere as the gold metals pierced into his head one after the other. His brain was turned to mush instantly and he died before he could feel the pain.

Turning around, the metal pieces destroyed different parts of his skull to escape out of his head. The head was so damaged that the part holding his jagged tusks shattered and the tusks fell off.

Just like that, Kael had ended the life of a creature that was comparable to a tier 4 lion.

This Earth Elephant would have given Stella or Zod a good fight. But in front of Kael, he died without putting up any resistance.

This was the easiest fight Kael had ever had, he didn't even have to use his advantage of having multiple power pools. All he used was his new and improved Metal Power.

Even Zod whom he killed had died after Kael used a subtle combination of powers added to his enhanced Air Powers and his superior physical strength.

Naturally, the reason was because of the venom.

Kael observed the body of the dead Earth Elephant, his eyes scanning the smoothening parts of its body as well as the greenish-red blood flowing out from the battered head.

His nose picked up the scent of the venom within the system of the carcass.

Although the venom wouldn't have killed him, it had already left permanent damages that ensured the Earth Elephant was inedible for most creatures.

Looking at the body, Kael was reminded of how on earth, snakes stood no chance physically against the average human.

Even a child could kill them if they tried hard enough. Unfortunately, a lot of snakes were venomous.

In technical terms, humans had a higher power level than most snakes, yet it didn't stop them from being susceptible to the venoms of the snakes.

This was a reminder, that even though he was stronger than Esta and other snakes, they would need to deliver one bite before he would be put in a very dangerous situation.

That is unless he could find a way to counter such attacks.

Pushing the thought to the back of his mind, Kael looked over to a nearby tree to see a large green snake perched on the three with most of its body wrapped around one of the branches.

Using his vegetation powers, Kael was able to sense that the tree and Esta were now connected, Esta could control the body if he tried to defend her.

'Interesting,' Kael thought.

Then space twisted around him as he teleported and appeared in front of the tree like a ghost.

"You're Majesty!" Esta exclaimed as she hurriedly lowered her head from the top of the tree branch. Her cold serpentine yellow and black eyes failed to convey her submission but Kael paid it no mind.

"Are you well?" Kael asked.

"Yes Your Majesty, welcome Your Majesty," Esta greeted.

"And the others?" Kael asked.

"Dead or recuperating, I'll call for them," Esta said as she crawled down the stem of the tree, her green scales glistening with a mixture of softness and tenacity.

*OOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAN!*

The trumpeting roar of the Elephant Matriarch reached his ears, alerting him that the leader of the elephant herd was still alive.

'You're lucky that I find you useful,' Kael kept the thought to himself.

"You have no power to resist us, your cherished warrior is dead," Kael said, facing the Elephant Matriarch.

The elephant Matriarch was roaring at the fallen Earth Elephant, knowing that this was a very costly death.

How long would it take for them to recover their losses? The elephants that were dead? Most of the elephants were still pregnant and no elephant calf would be expected for some time.

It had taken them a long time to build their numbers to fifty, and now, it would take them more time to recover to their original number.

Their biggest loss today was the Earth Elephant, the chances of them getting another awakened elephant in the herd before the Matriarch died were very slim.

"You are their leader, if you lead them under my banner, they will follow," Kael said as he slowly walked toward Olivia and Zabita while maintaining a telepathic connection with the Elephant Matriarch.

"You killed Julio," The Matriarch said, grunting and expressing her anger by stomping her feet and kicking up dust.

She could see that all her herd members were unresponsive, seemingly dazed by the mysterious powers of this humanoid male who had a similar scent to those two lionesses.

"Yes, you are not blind," Kael responded, "And Julio won't be the only one to die if you and your herd don't cooperate.

I doubt the anger you currently wish to express by attacking me is worth the consequences."

Kael's voice was surprisingly calm and collected for someone who was pissed at the fact that his consorts had almost died a few moments ago.

Kael didn't wait for the Matriarch to respond, "My Proxy will come to meet you later. She will tell you our terms and conditions for becoming our vassal, the powers you will get, and the powers you will lose.

How you treat her will determine your chances of survival. I'm simply giving you and your herd time to think and time to choose what is more valuable, your survival.

Soon, my regime would expand past this place, you could be our instrument, or you could be an obstacle."

With that said, Kael stood next to Zabita who held Olivia by the arm to help her stand up.

All the gold metal pieces rose and converged around the trio. Slowly, the metal pieces lost their golden color and returned to their lackluster metallic grey color.

Zabita took control of the metal pieces as Kael casually changed his focus to something else.

At the same time, Esta had come back with two snakes who were the only ones to survive this operation.

Kael simply looked at them with an indifferent gaze, no sadness or excitement, only acknowledgment.

It was better for the snakes to die than for his own consorts to die. Their sacrifice was worth it.

Space twisted around the group and soon, they had disappeared from the vicinity of the forest border.

All that was left were the forty-five or so remaining herd members as well as the Fortune Elephant Matriarch. As soon as Kael and his group disappeared, the elephants snapped out of their trance and looked around, confused at what had happened.

They were not aware of the time or events that passed in their trance-like state. Seeing the dead body of the Earth Elephant, one of the oldest and strongest of their herd, they broke down into sadness.

As they were ordinary and yet to awaken their hearts, elephants were fully capable of feeling complex emotions and felt loss.

They surrounded the body, some were using their trunks to touch the body as I to confirm if he was truly dead. One of the elephants picked up one of the fallen tusks, she held it close to her chest, sorrow evident in her eyes.

The Matriarch came over with sadness in her eyes. Her fortune worked over time, she still had hope that a miracle could happen, maybe luck could bring him back to life.

Unfortunately, the power of luck was limited in this case. The Earth Elephant remained dead, his head battered and his skull shattered.

The greenish-red blood pooled under the Earth Elephant's body, painting a grotesque picture for all the elephants to see. The picture was burned into their minds.

The Matriarch raised her head, forming her trunk into an 'S' shape. She released a sorrowful trumpet roar that expressed her grief.

The other elephants did the same, trumpeting their anguish away.

They mourned the death of an elder.

Less than five kilometers away, Kael appeared with Zabita and Olivia by his side as well as Esta and the remaining two snakes alive.

"Imagine if I didn't arrive in time," Kael said, his eyes glazing over with a subtle glint.

Zabita lowered her head while Olivia sighed.

"And you," Kael turned to Esta, "You didn't think it wise to retreat? Do you know that you would have bared the responsibility of anything that happened to my consorts,"

Kael's eyes narrowed as he released his aura. Esta bowed her head under the power of the false pressure, keeping her triangular head lowered.

"Your Majesty, I was following Her Highness Zabita's direction," Esta said.

Kael frowned. He didn't want to encourage anything that would convince anyone that they could ignore the authority of the lions, but he also wanted to make them know that they had to be responsible.

For now, he didn't talk about it again. In the future, he would have to change how operations are carried out.

"Anyways, my brother is having his first child today, let's get back to the mountain," Kael said as space twisted around them again.

He could already feel the Betrothal Contract activating…
