Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World
Chapter 248 248: Death So Close

"Hmm,"

Kael, who had a vastly smaller body mass in his humanoid form compared to the Elephant Matriarch held the latter in place by the tusks with his arms alone.

The contrast between their sizes was very apparent, the sight of such a colossal figure unable to take another step further because of a smaller figure was very striking.

The Elephant Matriarch's eyes were opened wide in shock, she discovered that no matter how hard she pushed, she couldn't move further by even an inch.

Kael had mysteriously appeared in front of her and held her by the tusks. His aura was regal and oppressive but she resisted the false pressure.

Her feet pressed the ground, caving into the soil as she pushed forth harder than ever.

But Kael didn't budge, he didn't even lean back. He just remained there, staring into the eyes of the Elephant Matriarch with a cold gaze.

Meanwhile, the elephant herd that had previously been planning on stomping Zabita to death discovered that Zabita had mysteriously disappeared. She just vanished like she had never been there before.

But although she had disappeared, the metal pieces floating around did not fall to the ground. Rather, they seemed to be undergoing a change of some sort.

The pieces of refined metal, which had originally been metallic grey in color, were starting to gain a shade of gold over their surfaces.

*BAM! BAM! BAM!*

The Earth Elephant was still rampaging around. He was starting to recover his senses but Esta's venom was still active and damaging his organs.

Earth spikes rose and fell around him but didn't go beyond a certain point. The earthquakes had mysteriously eased the moment Kael appeared.

The Elephant Matriarch, seeing that she couldn't budge Kael, pulled back to create some distance, she could tell that this person was very dangerous.

However, she was quick to come to a horrifying realization, she couldn't move away.

Kael's grip on her tusks was so strong and firm that she couldn't push forth, and she couldn't pull away.

With his fingers clamped around the ivory tusks, Kael watched as the Elephant Matriarch struggled to break free from his hold without any success.

With his strong grip, she would have to break her tusks if she wanted to escape.

The Elephant Matriarch pushed against the dirt ground, creating shallow trenches with her feet. She couldn't even shake her head to the side, not just her tusks, her whole head was locked in place.

"So," Kael finally said, "If I didn't come…" his telepathic voice was low and reached both Olivia's mind and the Matriarch's, "...You would have died."

Olivia stared at Kael's back with shock as a sense of disappointment was starting to grow in her chest.

She didn't say anything, there was nothing to say. It wasn't her fault that the enemy was too strong for her.

But that wasn't the point Kael was trying to make. If he hadn't arrived just in time, Olivia and Zabita would have died. This left a very bad taste in his mouth.

He had always readied himself for the time anyone might betray him and the day he may have to discard them. For these situations, he had prepared his heart and steeled his will.

That he had not prepared for the day any of his lionesses might fall in battle, the day they might die would be a lie. He had also prepared his heart for that too.

But most times, it was one thing to envision it, it was another thing to watch it almost play out before his eyes.

As soon as he arrived, he witnessed Zabita being surrounded on all sides by tusks and trunks, about to be crushed by the elephant's numbers.

And Olivia was kneeling on the ground, out of strength and completely defenseless to the Elephant Matriarch charging at her.

Two more seconds and she would have been skewered by the ivory tusk, dead and gone.

What could have possibly led to them engaging in such a risky battle, since when did they become so reckless?

There was another reason why Katari, who was usually level-headed and less impulsive, was suitable for this type of operation.

To Kael, two of his consorts had almost died today, the pillars of the kingdom he was building, the lionesses who had been with him from the very beginning, had almost died.

Each of his lionesses was connected to him and acted like an extension of his authority, his proxies.

To see them almost die gave Kael a weird feeling, like he had almost lost something of value, like someone had almost succeeded in stealing something of his.

So while he held the tusks of the elephant Matriarch, he was busy suppressing this strange feeling.

One thing was sure, he didn't like having this feeling. And by that technicality, if he didn't like having the feeling, he would naturally deal with the cause of him having the strange feeling.

The cause of the strange feeling was none other than the elephants.

Kael looked at the elephant Matriarch, judging and calculating her value, trying to decide if he should still keep her alive.

Unfortunately, her power of fortune was very rare and Kael felt that she would be very valuable if put to good use.

His eyes flashed with a dangerously high level of intelligence, swiftly making calculations and decisions based on the data he was gathering.

This whole mission was a mistake, and it was rushed, he concluded.

"As always, an example must be made. Unfortunately, your herd has no children, things would have been easier," Kael muttered.

Then, he took a step forward.

To the bewilderment of all who had eyes on Kael, the Elephant Matriarch was actually forced back.

Kael took another casual step, pushing the Matriarch back by another step again. The Matriarch could feel her tusks groan under the pressure that Kael was applying on them.

Now she knew, Kael had completely overpowered her, her fortune powers were like water upon a rock, it was completely ineffective.

The contrast between their size was just too much, Olivia would never forget it.

Kael's ankles flexed and he jumped up slightly, bringing the whole head of the elephant up with him. Before the Matriarch could react, Kael sent a kick straight to her wise forehead.

*BAM!*

The Matriarch's large body shot back like it had been fired from a slingshot, and the ground split into two as a shallow fissure was formed in the Matriarch's wake.

Luckily, Kael had let go just in time, if not, the tusks would have broken away, causing the Matriarch even more pain.

Kael promptly landed back on the ground, Kael turned around to look at Olivia with a complicated awed gaze.

"Kael…" Olivia started.

"It's fine," Kael said. He didn't want to dwell on the mistakes for long. He came here to check if the operation was going smoothly and found out it wasn't.

Behind Olivia, Zabita came forward with an equally complicated gaze. She had just been a few seconds away from experiencing the most pain she had ever experienced in her life.

Looking at her, Kael wanted to throw her back into the elephant herd so that she would experience some serious pain. Some people wouldn't value their lives until it was almost taken from them.

He ended up signing, each lioness with their own problems. Even now, he could see through the lazy eye of Zabita that she had not yet learned her lesson, at least not fully.

She now had a glint of cautiousness in her eyes, something that wasn't there before, but she was still as nonchalant and daring as before.

Zabita was the exact example of someone with an 'I don't give a shit' attitude. He couldn't change her, he could only steer her in the direction that she would be most effective for him.

Shaking his head, Kael waved his hand at them. Immediately, the consort tattoos appeared on their foreheads as the contracts were altered.

Kael then left them alone, walking away to meet the Earth Elephant.

By now, the Earth Elephant had stopped rampaging. He had returned to his senses after the spirit venom wore off. But Esta's venom was still there, he had control of his limbs and buckled to the ground under his own weight.

He saw Kael coming toward him and panicked. Kael's killing intent was stupendous, he looked at the Earth Elephant casually but his heart desired to slaughter.

The herd of elephants stood dazed. Their eyes flashed with greyish-hold light as their minds were overturned by Kael.

Kael slashed his hand out horizontally without saying. All the refined metal pieces, every single one of them, gained a gold sheet over them.

The now gold pieces converged, flowing toward Kael like bees to their queen. They surrounded Kael, giving the king a heavenly visage that stunned the onlookers.

Multiple thick earth walls rise from the, creating twelve layers of defense between Kael and the Earth Elephant.

Kael flicked his hand and all the metal pieces reacted. They moved fast, shooting out like bullets at the Earth Elephant.

*BAM! BAM! BAM! BAM!…"

Seven walls were shattered by the numerous metal pieces before stopping, having lost their momentum.

Kael raised his hand again, and the metal pieces moved again, surging and converging to form abstract gold constructs.

*BOOM!*

Kael flicked his hand, making the abstract metal constructs easily smash through the remaining five walls.

Just as they shattered the last wall, they formed a crude spinning drill head and descended on the Earth Elephant.

The paralyzed Earth Elephant could not dodge, the blow struck him on his head at the area in between his eyes.
