Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World
Chapter 247 247: Fortune Limit

Zabita looked carefully at the winged figure moving toward them from a distance. She widened her eyes, intent on recognizing the familiar figure before it got close.

However, just when she was about to recognize the person, the floating rock she was standing on fell to the ground.

Zabita jumped off just in time as the rock shattered into many pieces.

Unfortunately, Zabita had landed right in the center of the elephant herd. The elephants surrounded her, killing intent flashing in their eyes.

Zabita kept her cloud of small refined metal pieces floating around her, revolving fast to shield her from the onslaught of the elephants.

She was now in a precarious situation.

These revolving pieces of metal were many and dangerous, but they could not possibly protect her from all the elephants at the same time.

She could even feel some of the metal pieces flying out of her orbit as the Fortune Elephant matriarch used her fortune powers to manipulate the enigmatic forces of luck.

Meanwhile, the Earth Elephant who had previously been controlling the floating rocks had gone into a maddening state, causing the many floating rocks to fall or fly away.

The ground began to shake terribly as the Earth Elephant stopped holding back as he slowly lost his senses.

The venom of the spirit snake was starting to take effect. The venom didn't attack his physical body, rather, it attacked his mind, his very soul.

Normally, the body of an elephant of his caliber would be able to resist the venom and even suppress the effects until it faded out.

Even this venom that was attacking his mind wouldn't be able to bring him down. At most, it would make him dizzy and feel like he was drunk, but it wouldn't have gone beyond that.

But the Earth Elephant didn't have just one venom coursing through his body's system. Esta's venom was still in him and it was slowly acting up, fusing with the spirit venom to cause some serious side effects.

The Earth Elephant stomped its foot on the ground, cracking the earth and releasing all its power.

The whole region began to shake as cracks spread out, cracks wide enough to contain a whale.

Two of the elephants lost their balance and fell into the cracks, their bodies were pierced through by the jutting rock edges.

Earthen spikes rose out of the ground with no aim to kill but they still managed to stab into the underside of some elephants, causing serious injuries that would soon lead to death.

While the Earth Elephant was running mad, visible green veins began to spread from his ears into his whole body. His blood was turning green and his organs were starting to malfunction.

His skin was starting to lose its rough exterior and was looking more like the surface of a fleshy and bumpy fruit.

The best way to describe what was happening to him was that he was turning into the perfect food for a vegetarian. Flesh turning into vegetables.

Of course, this wasn't enough to bring him down as it could be seen at how his earth powers were still working. Soon, the symptoms would fade away but the damage would have already been done permanently.

This was it, even if they couldn't kill him, they would have crippled one of their primary fighters and made it hard for them to resist the next wave of 'Persuasions' that the lions would send.

Esta reached one of the trees around and slithered her way to the top of a branch. She used her powers to establish a vital connection with the tree, causing its branches to twist and turn.

This was her last line of defense and she hoped she wouldn't have to use it.

Thankfully, the Earth Elephant had lost track of her and was busy trying to fight against the venom in his body while letting his powers go out of control.

Esta shifted her sight and redirected her flicking forked tongue, searching for Zabita and Olivia.

If not for the green scales on Esta's serpentine face, one would have seen the color drain from her face. Her limbless body instinctively tightened around the brank in fear at what she was seeing.

Zabita was surrounded and the Matriarch was charging straight for Olivia.

The elephant herd which had surrounded Zabita were cautious of the Earth Elephant's reckless tantrums. They had already seen two of their brethren fall into those jagged fissures while some others lay on the ground with deep gashes in their bellies.

They were furious with the Earth Elephant just as they were scared of him. This didn't mean that they would run away however, all this wouldn't have happened if the lionesses hadn't attacked them in the first place.

The cloud of metal pieces spun tirelessly around Zabita, her attempt to defend herself from the elephants who wanted to crush her.

Many of the elephants that came too close had their trunks or tusks nicked or scarred by the metal pieces.

While using this method to defend herself, Zabita was dividing her focus to form a metal blade that was directed at the Matriarch.

She had seen the Matriarch charging toward Olivia and was worried.

Olivia was on her knees, still in her humanoid form. Blood trickled down her nose, crossed her small lips, and dripped from her chin.

She was exhausted, physically and mentally, having pushed herself to the limit to resist the misfortune power of the Matriarch Elephant.

Her eyes were closed but they didn't stop the blood tears from flowing down her chubby cheeks. This was the most amount of blood Olivia had ever bled since becoming Kael's consort.

This was the highest level of injury, this was also the most serious fight she had ever entered.

That she was still able to resist the misfortune power was just because of her will to continue living.

She could feel the ground tremble terribly, signs of the impending danger brought by the incoming Elephant Matriarch.

Suddenly the Matriarch paused her charge, the pale yellow power of luck flashing around her. She had stopped just in time to dodge a three-meter-long crude metal blade that flew past her face.

Zabita's gaze turned serious, this wasn't supposed to happen.

With a significant amount of her metal pieces beyond her reach, she was left with the scant few which she used to defend herself.

Her defensive advantage had diminished by a lot and the elephants closed in. They positioned themselves around her, making sure that she wouldn't be able to jump out of the encirclement without clashing with their trunks.

While Zabita still had her sharp metal claws and skeleton as a last line of defense, she would rather not use it in this case, especially when relying on her metal skeleton for defense meant she had to endure a lot of injuries.

Even then, she could end up dying if she was not careful.

At the same time, the Elephant Matriarch who had stopped to evade the flying metal blade continued her charge again.

Her tusk was just a few meters away from skewering the kneeling Olivia and Zabita was a few seconds from being turned into a ragdoll.

Esta held her breath, this was it, a miracle had to happen now if not she would not be able to return to the kingdom.

Not just Esta, the remaining surviving snakes also held their breaths. This simple assassination mission would turn into a campaign for elephant genocide if these two died here.

Olivia suddenly burst out with the remaining power of luck left in her, it was weak, it was almost non-existent. Almost as soon as it left her body, it was blown away by the more dominating power of fortune by the Elephant Matriarch.

Olivia held on to hope that that little attempt would save them. It was very unlikely but she had nothing but hope now. If only Zabita had listened to her from the start…

Esta, wrapped around the branch, stared wide-eyed at the scene unfolding.

Olivia frowned, the tremors coming from the earth had stopped, replaced by a suffocating calmness.

She opened her eyes slowly, causing more bloody tears to flow down her chubby cheeks. She looked up, wondering what had caused the sudden turn of events.

Then her eyes widened in shock.

Standing in front of her with his back facing he was Kael, she could recognize that strong back anywhere at any time.

His blonde hair fluttered slightly even though there was barely any wind. Although he had his back facing her, Olivia could somewhat tell that Kael had a very cold expression on his face.

Kael's arms were stretched out and his fingers wrapped around the long ivory tusks of the Elephant Matriarch.

His shoulder muscles flexed slightly, showing that he wasn't putting much effort into stopping the colossal elephant.

Using his arm strength alone, Kael stopped her charge, holding her in place while staring straight into her eyes.

"Hmmm…"
