Esta, the leader of the snake assassin caste, had been communicating with Zabita through a private telepathic channel maintained by a spirit snake.

As soon as Zabita made the first move, she and her snakes began to move.

The elephants were large and had an advantage in terms of sight. They could see almost anything that tried to move toward them with how high up their eyes were.

And even if they didn't see it, another elephant would see it and they would alert each other about the danger.

This was why the snakes needed the elephants to be distracted for them to have a chance of getting close enough to land a fatal strike.

Esta, a green vegetation snake, had the most potent venom of her kind which was quite controversial to the nature of her power.

Usually, the most potent venom would come from a War snake, but the war snake they had was not powerful enough to be here for this operation.

So this left Esta with the responsibility 8f delivering the venom into the system of one of the two Awakened Elephants.

They had already picked their target, the Earth Elephant. The Fortune Elephant was also strong but her combat ability was only slightly above average compared to other elephants.

She could be dealt with in some other way, the bigger threat was the Earth Elephant whose combat ability would allow the Elephant herd to resist persuasions from the lion regime.

So, with a target in mind, ten of the strongest snakes moved out. Apart from Esta, the other snakes were stronger than a tier 2 wolf but weaker than a tier 3 wolf. A result of the difference in the number of evolutions they had to undergo.

Esta's green scales blended seamlessly in the cover of the grass, allowing her to gradually slither into the herd formation. Sometimes, she had to lay still so as to not draw suspicion to her moving figure on the ground. She pressed her large body and long body to the soil, trying her best to make her figure seem smaller and less noticeable.

At the same time, a fire snake, a cobra species, crept toward the earth elephant from another angle.

Out of the ten snakes participating in this assassination attempt, five of them were focused on the Earth Elephant, while the remaining went after five different elephants.

Even if they were unsuccessful, they would make sure that they dealt significant damage and send a message to the whole herd.

So what if they were vengeful, did they have the power to take that revenge? With the knowledge of the lion backing their actions, the snakes felt bolder.

Slowly, as the fight against Zabita raged on, Esta and her companions drew closer and closer to their targets.

Esta had to admit, Zabita was very impressive. She was actively fighting a being comparable to a tier 4 lion and had not yet been defeated.

Although Zabita was mostly at a disadvantage, it was still impressive. She was bold, attacking the ordinary elephants while constantly dodging the attacks of the Earth Elephant.

Her means were underhanded and it was clear she would be dead if it was not for the herd blocking the Earth Elephant from being effective in his attacks.

And Zabita was taking full advantage of this. Multiple times, Esta swore that those rocks would hit Zabita and crush her to a pulp. Yet, she somehow managed to evade it and block it.

Naturally, this was thanks to Olivia who stood by her side and pushed herself to her limits to keep Zabita alive.

One could say that the only reason Zabita was still alive was because Olivia was present.

Esta refocused, paying attention to the vibrations of the earth she slithered on. Her forked tongue slipped out of her mouth once in a while, allowing her to remain trained on the principal subject.

Gradually, as they closed in, the Earth Elephant rose to stand on his hind legs before slamming down again.

The snakes who had already drawn dangerously close to the elephant felt the tremors and couldn't react in time.

Large rocks each the size of an elephant rose to the sky and unfortunately, one of the five snakes targeting the Earth Elephant rose with one of the floating rocks.

It couldn't be helped.

At the same time, Esta received a transmission, that one of the snakes had been trampled to death by multiple elephants who had all moved to avoid the floating rocks.

Esta steeled her will, she did not stop moving, and neither did her other snakes. They had all known that this mission came with a possibility of death and had prepared themselves beforehand.

Their cold reptilian mind made it easy for them to disregard the life of their fellow snakes.

Finally, Esta managed to reach the Earth Elephant. It had been distracted by Zabita who had just jumped onto one of the floating rocks.

This was a crucial moment. Zabita was maximizing her powers' utility, Olivia was burning out, and the elephant Matriarch had finally made a move.

The elephant Matriarch, the Fortune Elephant, who had been standing far behind and observing the conflict while seething in rage, finally moved.

She took a heavy step forward which was followed by a surging wave of misfortune that hit Olivia like a speeding truck.

Blood flowed out of Olivia's nose as her legs shook, she was about to collapse. But she still held on. She could feel her consciousness wavering, from the beginning she knew she couldn't stand a chance against this Fortune Elephant.

The result was immediate, bad luck descended instantly.

Four snakes were trampled to death within that second.

If nothing happened, the next attack that the Earth Elephant would make would definitely do serious damage to Zabita, if not kill her.

Positioned in front of the Earth Elephant, Esta looked up coldly at the colossal creature. Her serpentine eyes observed the creature, noting its incredible defenses.

If she wanted to inject her venom into the beast, she had to do so from a vulnerable part of her body.

And for her, the softest part of the elephant was the long trunk which hung down in between his tusks.

Without hesitation, Esta reeled her head back before striking forth with all her might. Her whole body moved to deliver the attack, the muscles on her neck flexed to the limit, giving her the striking speed of a ghost.

Her two fangs, pale white, curved, and long, which had begun to drop with deadly venom, penetrated the tip of the long nose.

As soon as Esta registered the bite, she immediately recoiled and slithered away. The venom has been administered, but she had to leave and let her venom do the work.

As expected, the Earth Elephant which had been in the process of attacking Zabita again flinched at the strike. He looked down to see a green snake slithering away quickly.

His eyes widened in horror as the consequence of what the snake had done settled in. He brought his trunk up to his eyes to see the two fang marks and knew what would happen.

"SNAKE!* He shouted. The Earth Elephant completely ignored Zabita and chased after Esta in panic.

All the elephants reached with shock and confusion at the word of the Earth Elephant, 'Snake? Where?'

And indeed, some of them spotted some snakes who were already slithering away in different directions.

The venom has been delivered to the primary target, there was no need to wait behind and fight.

The Matriarch frowned, finally spotting one of the snakes as well as a panicking Earth Elephant.

"COME BACK!" The Earth Elephant shouted. Every step he took shook the ground, letting Esta know the distance between her and the elephant. And the elephant was closing in fast.

That snake which had risen into the sky with floating rocks finally made a move at this time.

He coiled his body before leaping from the floating rock and toward the Earth Elephant who happened to just pass underneath the floating rock.

He landed on the back of the elephant, his serpentine body struggling to get a firm grip on the bumpy surface of the Elephant's back.

But he never intended to hold on for long. He opened his mouth wide, revealing his two long and semi-tangible fangs.

As a spirit snake, this was one of his perks. It didn't matter how thick the skin was, he would still be able to sink his fangs into the body without any resistance.

And that was what he did, he bit down on the back, injecting a mist-like venom into the body of the Earth Elephant.

The Elephant at first did not feel anything, but soon, he started to notice his vision getting foggy.

All that happened within less than two seconds, by this time, the Earth Elephant had noticed the spirit snake on his back and grabbed hold of it with his long trunk.

Doing his best to suppress the strange thing happening to his mind, the Earth Elephant flung the spirit snake to the ground.

The head of the spirit snake burst into pieces with blood spilling everywhere. The private spirit channel was immediately cut off from the remaining snakes and Zabita.

At the same time, Esta's poison was starting to show effects.

That was not all, Zabita who was still on top of the floating rock and observing the battle from a bird's eye view spotted a distant winged figure flying toward them from afar.

'What's that?'
