Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World -
Chapter 245 245: Elephants
The metal pieces acted as one entity, moving with coordination as though they were being controlled by one mind.
The elephants closed in, so did the rising pressure of misfortune.
Zabita closed in fast on her enemies, reaching their front within the blink of an eye.
The elephant at the front, the earth elephant who had been leading the charge, roared in fury.
His long tusks vibrated with power as he slammed his foot into the ground.
The ground cracked immediately, splitting into two with the fissure line chasing after Zabita.
Zabita leaped into the air, evading the fate of falling into the shallow and jagged ravine.
Zabita's leap was powerful, a testament to her full physical might as a tier 3 lioness. Despite the weight of her metallic bones, she still managed to jump high enough to completely evade the stretching trunks of the raging elephants.
While in mid-air, Zabita knew that 8f she didn't react fast, she would land in the center of the group of elephants.
So with her magnetic field as a launch board, she shot two blades down at the elephants.
The result was immediate, they were all blocked.
Multiple earthen shapes had risen from the and assembled above the elephants to block the metal blades.
"You overestimate yourself little lioness," A deep voice resonated in her mind.
Before she could react, a long trunk whipped at her from behind, coming with the power to crush her.
The spinning metal pieces clung to her body, wrapping around her and forming a thin and crude sheet of armor over her body.
The elephant trunk struck her side, bashing her away.
Zabita flew through the sky, cutting the image of a sorry figure as multiple pieces of her crude armor broke off from the impact.
Her body struck the ground, rolling over the soil and leaving a shallow trench in her wake.
*RUMBLE!*
Zabita got up fast to see the elephants rushing at her, she would be crushed in a few seconds if she didn't move.
Her eyes dilated as adrenaline filled her veins.
The crude armor over her body detached into its core pieces and burst out with huge amounts of kinetic energy.
The elephants had been too close so they couldn't move their huge bodies out of the way. The flying metal pieces struck their heads and bodies, leaving deep wounds that were unfortunately not fatal.
However, this attack was able to stop them in their tracks and allow Zabita to run away from them. Still, she circled the herd, using the innumerable metal pieces to block the rock projectiles being launched at her.
"Zabita, you can't do much to them, they all have the power of good fortune on their side," Olivia alerted Zabita from beyond the battlefield.
Olivia stayed far away now, keeping her eyes on the elephant matriarch who also kept her eyes on Olivia.
Now that Zabita was so close to them, she couldn't help but appreciate their size. Each of these elephants was simply large and dominating.
"I'm not trying to win," Zabita exclaimed.
She slid to a halt, transforming back into her humanoid form. She did a spin just in time to avoid an earth disk flying at her.
After evading that crushing intent, she used her spinning momentum to whip out her hand, sending out the long metal whip tied around her arm.
As the whip lashed out, it seemed to be getting longer and longer until it struck one of the elephants on her hind side.
A terrifying gash was made as the tick skin was forcefully cut through. The jagged metal whip lodged itself into her flesh, causing more wounds and causing her to roar in pain.
"GET OUT OF THE WAY!" The earth elephant shouted as she charged at Zabita who had started running again.
Zabita seemed reckless, but she still had focus and intention.
She knew that she would definitely die if she attempted to fight one of the awakened elephants with her power level head-on.
So she resorted to a hit-and-run tactic, just as she had told Olivia.
She would attack the normal elephants while using them to avoid the direct attacks of the awakened elephant among them.
Zabita moved fast, employing her superior agility to stay mobile. As long as she was on the run, they would find it hard to land a good hit.
She made herself a moving target. At the same time, she made sure to have the elephants unknowingly act as a barrier between her and the Earth Elephant, securing her from any major attack that wouldn't end up endangering his kin.
Elephants were rare and their birth rate was pitifully low. The minimum time period for an average elephant's pregnancy was two years, and that was just the minimum time period.
Sure, they enjoyed long lifespans and were all very intelligent, but their numbers were always low.
Although they could throw their weight around, dominate territories, and bully predators, that was also risky.
Apart from having low birth rates, they also took a very long time to awaken their elephant hearts.
Most of them would die before they could even get a chance to awaken their hearts. The two awakened elephants in this herd were the two oldest elephants they had, the Matriarch and her assistant.
Although they could dominate a lot of creatures and could even compete for the title of rulers in the wild, they had to be considerate of their numbers and their loved ones.
The bond they had with each member of their herd was phenomenal, deeper than any other creature had for one another in the wild.
If they knew something could cost them their lives, no matter how blood-pumping it was, they wouldn't bother with it unless necessary.
That was why they were so infuriated at the sight of one of their herd members dying to Zabita's blade. The pain and effort it was taking to raise that elephant to adulthood over the years was immense, the offender had to pay with her blood.
Of course, it didn't help that Zabita was constantly firing those small metal projectiles at them, giving them injuries that would take a very long time to heal.
Some of these injuries may never fully heal, the disadvantages of the elephant body were as numerous as their advantages.
Zabita also found herself at a disadvantage, as she fought, she learned more about how her powers worked.
Although she could keep an orbit of these small metal pieces around her passively, she couldn't control all of them at once.
If she could, she would have just done so and attacked every elephant here at once, bringing chaos to the whole herd.
Her magnetic field couldn't extend beyond a certain limit and the amount of metal pieces she could control at once was limited.
The closest she could go to a wide area attack was launching all the pieces aloud at once but even that was severely limited and she couldn't do it with all her resources.
This was valuable knowledge that she was adding to her mind, using it to adapt and refine her fighting style.
She discovered that although the elephants had fascinating defense and strength even without special powers, they were still vulnerable and could be killed.
*OOOAAAAAAAAAAAN!*
The Earth Elephant had gotten so frustrated he stood on his hind legs, raising his front legs up and roaring with his long nose curved to form an 'S' shape.
*BAM!*
He stomped his two front feet on the ground, causing the ground to crack. The cracks spread wide and far, reaching Zabita and Olivia in an instant.
Olivia stayed still while Zabita dashed to the side, keeping her status as a moving target.
Large rocks, each the size of an elephant floated into the air, hovering over the herd.
The rest of the elephant herd looked up in worry, but the reassuring warmth of the fortune aura eased their worries.
*WHOOSH!*
One of the rocks shot down at the moving Zabita. She immediately transformed into her lioness form, gaining more speed as she circled the herd.
She made sure to keep her image obscured by the elephants who were also moving at her.
But the rock was also fast, she had barely managed to evade it as it struck the ground a few inches behind her. If not for the elephants blocking the Earth Elephant's view, that rock would have killed her.
The ground quaked after being hit with such a large rock, stones burst, grasses were uprooted, and the soil exploded
Zabita leaped into the air again, the metal whip wrapped around her front limbs lashed out, combining with more metal pieces to become longer.
The crude and jagged metal whip latched onto a protrusion on one of the floating rocks, allowing Zabita to pull herself toward it.
Her metal claws dug deep into the levitating piece of earth as she scaled the body of the rock.
The Earth Elephant naturally noticed this and sought to react immediately. Subconsciously, he had lowered his trunk to the ground, letting it hang there as it was.
Suddenly, he was distracted by a stinging pain from the tip of his trunk. Alarmed, the Earth Elephant looked down to see a large green snake slithering away.
