Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World -
Chapter 244 244: Charge
The metal sword which has been formed by many small metal pieces flew through the air at stunning speed. The rough and uneven surface caused the long blade to produce a screeching sound that rattled the ears of the elephants.
The blade had been propelled, the magnetic field around Zabita had acted as a launch board and the metal flew with killing intent.
There was a distance of about nine hundred kilometers between Zabita and the herd of elephants, yet the blade crossed that distance within a few seconds
*TSHICSH!*
One of the elephants was struck square in the side. The three-meter blade had lost its momentum after traveling from such a distance but it had still done serious damage.
One-third of the blade pierced into the side of the elephant, its serrated edge cutting through its thick skin before stopping, no longer able to go further.
The force the blade came with was immense, the elephant stumbled to the side while raising its trunk to the sky and trumpeting in agony.
The other nearby elephants reacted swiftly. They trumpeted in alarm, rushing over to their companion to see what was wrong.
Meanwhile, Zabita put down her hand with her usual nonchalant expression and drowsy eyes.
"We need to go," Olivia warned. She felt the power of fortune in the air churning and focusing around them. It was getting unstable, about to transform into misfortune.
Immediately, she erupted with her own power to counter. Not everyone could feel it, but she could feel it.
If she didn't do anything, they would be barraged by a torrent of bad luck, that alone was enough to prevent them from leaving this place alive.
As she activated her own power of fortune, the rising aura of misfortune was pushed away and kept at bay. But Olivia could sense that it was only because the owner of that misfortune power was far away.
A yellow halo appeared overhead and spread around her body, a visible manifestation of the power of luck.
"Zabita, we need to leave now," Olivia said. She couldn't leave without her pride sister, only she knew the terrifying consequences of so much misfortune power concentrated on one person.
"The snakes have moved, they still need time," Zabita said. She had just received a telepathic message from Esta, the leader of the snake assassin caste.
As soon as she sent out that blade, the powerful snakes had made their moves, slithering their way toward the elephant herd as stealthily as they could.
"They need a distraction," Zabita added. She wasn't yet satisfied with her power demonstration and wanted to take more tests. This was the first time she would be using her metal powers to their full potential.
"We can't win this…" Olivia protested, "We can always come back, this was a bad idea," She grabbed Zabita's hand before the latter could do something stupid.
She never knew that Zabita could be this reckless, wasn't she usually always lackadaisical and nonchalant about most things? Is this her true color now that she has more power?
"Stop it, you've been talking too much! You know I don't like it," Zabita said casually while snatching her hand away from Olivia's grip.
She didn't say it in a way to provoke Olivia, she was just stating it plainly and simply. She really didn't like it when people talked too much near her or made her talk too much.
Simple sentences only.
It was probably one of the reasons why she barely had any conflict with Katari over the years.
With that said, Zabita ignored the rest of Olivia's warnings and stepped forward, almost stepping out of the semi-invisible fortune field Olivia had erected.
The innumerable pieces of refined metal revolving around them like planets around a star moved with Zabita.
They increased their movement speed, churning in excitement as the magnetic field around Zabita began to grow stronger.
Her aura rose.
At this time, the elephant herd had been trumpeting in horror as they watched their companion slowly lose strength as the blade wound drained him of blood.
Each of them was close to four meters tall or thirteen feet, and each of them packed a lot of power beneath their thick skin, each of them was a tank that could cause a lot of damage if given the chance to.
There were fifty of them, forty-nine were on their feet.
And now, all of them had their eyes trained on the distant humanoid woman walking toward them with a mass of metal pieces hovering around her.
Suddenly, the elephant that had collapsed after being struck by the metal blade groaned and grunted from the immense pain he was feeling.
The blade that had been sticking out of his side began to vibrate terribly as Zabita established a faint magnetic connection with it.
Not all the elephants were able to guess that the closer she got, the stronger her hold on the metal blade.
*OAAAAAAAAAAAAANNN!*
The trumpet of a particular elephant came out from behind the herd, echoing out into the whole region and reaching the ears of many creatures kilometers away.
Zabita felt the ground begin to shake slightly, it started as a small vibration before transforming into a full-on mini earthquake.
"Zabita wait!..." Olivia shouted and rushed to hold Zabita, but Zabita had already moved.
The ground beneath her feet caved in as she leaped forward, using her natural lioness strength to cover a significant distance in a short amount of time.
One of the elephants seemed to realize something and quickly stretched her trunk to wrap it around the base of the blade which did not have any sharp edges.
She pulled and pulled as the vibration of the blade became higher.
*BAM!*
The metal blade suddenly exploded into many small pieces, scattering through the air and shooting into the skin of the surrounding elephants.
The part of the blade that was still inserted into the fallen elephant didn't explode. Instead, it split apart into its individual small metal pieces and spun around erratically within the elephant's body.
The elephant screamed loudly, causing the ground to vibrate slightly. The colossal creature could feel his insides being shredded to mush.
"STOP!*
A forceful telepathic wave swept over the elephants and toward the approaching Zabita. It was so powerful that Zabita momentarily stopped her charge before continuing again.
"Zabita!" Olivia shouted as she too ran after Zabitaz she had to stay close to Zabita'l to counter the effects of that foreign power of misfortune.
But even as she moved, she could feel the pressure increasing.
The ground quaked heavily as a massive being rushed out of the restless herd of elephants. An elephant that was also four meters tall like the rest of his kind.
But there was something different about him, apart from his bulkier body and rough skin that was akin to poorly mixed cement, he also had two unreasonably long tusks jutting out of his cheeks.
As soon as he showed himself, both Zabita and Olivia were able to sense the power of earth emanating from his body.
"Elephants are matriarchal, this is not the leader!" Olivia thought out loud as she struggled to catch up with Zabita.
Zabita didn't say anything, she didn't stop running after seeing a creature comparable to a tier 4 lion, rather, she picked up her pace.
*CLANK CLANK CLANK!*
Behind Zabita, the many pieces of refined metal began to clink and clank as they combined to form different constructs that floated close to their controller.
Blades, and shields, were there while two metal whips wrapped around her arms.
While the Earth Elephant charged at the incoming Zabita, the chaotic pieces of metal had caused a lot of trouble within the herd.
Their large bodies made them easy targets for the small metals moving around erratically.
It wasn't until they spread out that the moving metal pieces lost their momentum and deadlines.
None of them had died, but the elephant who had previously collapsed was already dead. A part of his body had caved in on itself like an airless balloon. His flashy insides had been turned to mush.
All the remaining elephants turned their focus and angry faces at the two foreign humanoids who were getting closer.
One of the elephants in the herd, the biggest and oldest female around, raised her trunk to the sky and released a deafening trumpet roar.
The sound shook the ground and a pale yellow halo appeared around her.
Olivia caught sight of this and felt a chill run down her spine. The eyes of the elephant matriarch and Olivia jammed and Olivia was able to feel the unhidden killing intent.
All the elephants moved, charging at the humanoids with a collective agreement to crush these offenders.
Zabita, recognizing the threat, followed her mind, letting her predator instinct take over her body.
In one motion, she had transformed into her pale-furred lioness form, continuing her rush with the metal whips still wrapped around her front limbs.
Two lionesses against fifty elephants.
At the same time, the snakes were closing in.
