Chapter 91: More Gifts!

"I have no idea how it happened!" Damon started with a blank face. "When we were.."

"And you think we can believe it! The carriages were maintained under strict guidance. How could the wheel break like that!" Oriana glared at Damon whose face did not show any emotions. "My sister could have died."

"Yet! She is sitting here with not a single wound on her body because I saved her. If I didn’t know any better, I would have thought you were accusing me, mother." he smiled softly but his eyes were filled with mockery.

Oriana looked appalled the way he called her mother.

"And it is the duchess who looks after the manor including the carriages. So, should she not explain how the accident happened instead of me?" Damon tilted his head. His eyes narrowing dangerously.

"You are accusing me of hurting my own sister. How preposterous." Oriana sniffled. "Honey! Could you believe him!"

Duke Aykyroyed took a deep breath and stared at the celine before looking at her. Olivia had regretted being here from the start. But in this moment, she regretted it much more.

"You look fine to me." he remarked and Olivia nodded hurriedly.

"I am perfectly fine thanks to the lord. He saved me before I could get hurt." Oriana shot her a glare but Olivia decided to ignore it.

"Since nothing major happened, let the matter rest. In future, be more careful with the staff and your duties Oriana." Oriana paused. Taken aback that she was scolded for it. She had never expected it.

"But honey.."

"That is enough. I still have matters to tend to later." Oriana bit her lips and went silent. Her accusatory gaze fell on Damon followed by Olivia.

Olivia tightened her grip on the fork while kids tried to diminish their presence too.

The breakfast continued in a stiff manner except for Damon who looked at ease from the start to the end.

"Oriana, Count Moore had written an apology letter. Reply accordingly and invite their daughter for tea. Later, would you like to go to Seren street?" Oriana was ready to throw complaints. But when she heard the last line, she paused altogether. A smile bloomed on her lips again as she nodded.

"Good! Then I will send a carriage for you. Now excuse me." the duke stood up and kissed her forehead before leaving.

Oriana revealed the attention he provided her. She was already giddy to go to Seren street. She was not the only one. Olivia looked at her sister as if she had a treasure.

"Sister! Can I come with you too?" Oriana shot Olivia a glance. On other occasions, she would have scolded Olivia but accepted her request.

But now, she was infuriated. It was such a good chance to punish Damon but it was gone just like that. But she could not let her anger speak better in front of Damon. The man was sipping a glass of juice for hours. Did he think she did not know his reason to be here!

"I am afraid you have many other tasks to complete today, Olivia. For the start, start embroidering a handkerchief for the second prince. If he sends a betrothal gift, you would need it." her voice was cold but Leo snapped to look at OLivia at once.

Olivia’s heart bled. It was such a good chance to visit Seren Street. A market exclusively for nobles. It had everything a woman ever needed.

Properties there were expensive and only nobles had the right to buy and sell them. If she could get a look there.. Olivia sighed! At least, she did not have to worry about Oriana’s interrogation for the meantime.

She would find a way to go there later with Edward. With that thought, Olivia calmed herself and nodded.

"I will complete it before you return." looking at her submissive sister, Oriana did not feel better. It felt like a circle was following. Where she would challenge her and then behave submissive.

She had to change this habit for hers. But before that! She had to get ready for the outing.

"You will meet me in my room when I return with the handkerchief, Olivia." she warned before giving one last glare to Damon and leaving.

Leo waited till his mother glared and left at once before standing up and glaring at his aunt. He was exasperated!

"You are getting another betrothal gift." he looked at Olivia and then at Damon. Wondering why his brother did not care?

"You can not do this to me and brother Damon." Leo was sure he could compete with his brother with time. But if the second prince made a move too!

Olivia frowned and glared at Leo before looking at Damon with worry. Her face crumpled when she found him looking back at her as if waiting for an explanation.

"This.." she pushed Leo in her arms and covered his mouth with her hands. "What are you talking about, Leo? I am only getting courted by the second prince and even that is not finalized yet." Damon raised a brow and stood up when Leo struggled not agreeing with his aunt.

Looking at her guilty eyes and sweating face, he know that she was hiding something. But as he stared at her, her image of last night flashed in front of his eyes. Where he was mesmerized by her body.

He looked away immediately with heat rising to his face and ears.

"Carry on! I have other tasks to complete first." he left hurriedly. Olivia’s brows furrowed looking at him with confusion but she was relieved.

Leo finally got rid of his aunt’s grip and glared at her.

"You are not going to accept any of them. I am telling you. You can not betray me like this." Olivia frowned. She stood and tousled his hair. The child was so innocent and cute looking aggrieved.

"I am getting married to the only person who would offer the biggest betrothal gifts!"
