Reborn, Its Time To Save My Family And.. My Enemy! -
Chapter 74: Full Of Suffocation
Chapter 74: Full Of Suffocation
Though the maids and commoner staff were not offered treatment normally, it was an emergency. If not taken care of, the maids might die due to excessive bleeding.
Olivia gasped looking at their condition. She glared at Damon cursing him in her heart. Did he need to go to this extreme os that they could speak? He could have chosen a place to meet at night or something.
"We will return to the duke’s manor. I can not put their life in danger." The maids were on the verge of fainting. Hearing her worried words, they felt guilt and indebtedness in their heart.
"We can not do that." Damon frowned. "Your majesty had invited me. If I do not reach there on time, it would be an insult to the royal family. I will suffer severe punishment. The whole family might suffer with me." Olivia gritted her teeth. Her anger rose in her chest. What difference was there between Oriana and Damon? They both see others as only pawns.
"Then you go ahead. I will leave with maids." The knights had already cleaned the wounds of amides and wrapped bandages around their wounds.
Since they have participated in wars for a long time, they were well versed in immediate treatment. Their hands were moving with perfection that could only come with experience. Yet their hands halted and they stared at Olivia with a stunned gaze when she challenged Damon.
Their faces darkened. Did the lady think she could also command the lord just because she was the duchess’s sister? Their expressions soured immediately.
"Ha! Do you think you can leave as you please? You have no staff left. How would you return to the manor without our escort?"
"....." Olivia flinched under his cold voice and dark face. She could feel that it was not an act any more. He was as furious as she was! But what gave him to the right to be furious when he had used their lives for his act.
What if she had been with maids!
"You.." despite the fear of death ingrained in her heart, she could not bear his unreasonable actions. She glared at him and cursed. But he only sneered as if she was nothing but a spoiled princess who knew nothing.
"That is enough." three words and she found her courage deflating. Even if she continued accruing, he was right. She had only brought two maids as her staff. After they were injured, they could not return to the manor without Damon’s knights escorting them.
"Both of you, can you carry them on your horses and return?" the knights bowed at once and nodded affirmatively.
"We have carried the injured with us before, my lord. You need not worry." They have already taken out clothes and tied the woman’s body with their back.
"Very well, you will be rewarded for your services later. Rest of you, mount your horses, we are leaving." they all bowed and followed his commands.
Olivia watched with marvel as the knights followed her unquestioningly. That would be his rise.
The knights would kill the whole family and siege the manor one day just for him.
"Are you going to stand here all night?" Olivia blinked when the cold voice was directed to her.
She watched with a grim face as he had already reached the carriage and was now waiting for her there.
Taking a deep breath, she forced herself to follow him.
He extended his hand to help her as his carriage was higher than normal and there were no stairs to climb.
But Olivia ignored his hand. She pulled her skirt higher and wrapped them around her waist. He watched with petrified gaze as her bare legs were shown to the knights.
He turned to glare at them at once. The knights bowed their heads at once and looked away.
Olivia did not care about their eyes. She hopped in the carriage using her hands as leverage and then stood up and took her seat.
Damon entered with grace. As if the height was nothing for him. He watched her red face full of anger and closed the door.
He took the seat opposite her yet she did not meet his eyes.
"Did your lives mean nothing in your eyes?" her voice was full of bitter resentment. "I knew one could grow indifferent to human life after spending a long time in the war zone. But we are not your knights, my lord. We are normal people who have no experience in handling these situations. The maids had suffered severe injuries just so we could talk in private?" she glared at him with anguish and disgust. As if he was a demon who feast on the misery of others.
Damon felt a strange burning in his chest. It was not the first time he was accused. And most of the time, he just ignores them. Why does it matter what she thought about him?!
"I have not planned it." Olivia frowned. It felt like the voice came low and distant. As if it was nothing but her illusion.
When she stared at him but did not say a word, he frowned.
"Did you not hear me?" Olivia blinked looking at his irked face.
"I did! But I am not sure if I heard you right." she sighed, feeling exhausted suddenly.
When was the last time she had slept well? From the time she had been reborn, she was haunted by those nightmares, her past did not leave her alone.
For some reason, the accident only reminded her of his cruelty. She did not even want to flatter him anymore.
Damon frowned deeper when she looked at him as if he was a sinner.
"I have only planned to wait for the maids to sleep to take you out of the carriage. My knights would not speak a word without my permission and those lazy maids would not realize that you are missing before dawn. I have not planned this accident." he gritted his teeth at all.
"If I had planned it, I would have saved everyone earlier. Even my knights suffered the wound but you were busy throwing a tantrum to notice it."
