Chapter 73: Burn Her

"Aunt Olivia?" Damon tilted his head looking troubled, "I wonder if his majesty accepts it. After all, he had only invited me." Oriana smirked. What was she even thinking?

A cold and indifferent person like Damon could never be interested in Olivia. And Olivia was already submitted by the second prince. She hid the smirk and faked a sigh.

"She will not accompany you to meet his majesty. You can just let her meet his highness the second prince. I will write a letter to her. Or are you declining because I am asking you for this favor!?" Damon frowned looking away.

"If that is the case, I will take her with me." Oriana finally nodded, feeling pride that he bowed in front of her.

She sent a maid hurriedly to call for Olivia. But she would not mind if Olivia took her time. If Damon reached late, he would leave a bad impression on his majesty. She had to make sure that his character was ruined in public.

Olivia wanted to leave early. But Agatha took two long hours in getting her ready. When she returned to the garden, she felt embarrassed. Not only was she late, she was wearing a dress with a deep neckline and large cut in her back. She felt exposed as she walked.

When Damon turned to look at her, she lowered her head instantly.

"Ah! You are finally here! We have been waiting for a long time. I was about to give up and ask Damon to leave without you." Oriana took in Olivia’s presence and noticed the plunged neck line.

Who did not know the second prince’s promiscuous nature. He would love the dress at once.

"Oh my! Is the dress not too much?" she gasped looking at Olivia’s bare skin and glared at Agatha following her.

Agatha took the hint and feigned nervousness.

"Your grace, I thought the dress would suit Olivia. If you do not like it, we can always change." Olivia nodded readily. But Oriana only scowled.

"You want to change it now? Do you want them to start their journey after midnight? Where is your brain rotting?" Oriana waved her hands dismissing Agatha.

The maid did not need to be told twice. She left without a second glance.

"Olivia, you can wear this shawl on the dress. Here!" Oriana took off her own shawl and wrapped it around Olivia. A large part of her bare back was covered by it.

"Then I wish both of you a good journey." Oriana guided Olivia to the second carriage she had prepared for her.

Damon took the silver carriage reserved for the duke or his representative while Olivia took the carriage used for guests.

A carriage full of gifts followed them closely. It was already late at night. Six knights followed the carriages on their horses and two maids sat with Olivia. But as the carriage slowly moved, the light breeze and swaying of the carriage made the maids drowsy.

Olivia started out of the window. She had followed his instruction but as she had predicted Oriana offered separate carriages.

They could not stop before reaching the royal palace. How did she offer him a meal? And why did he need it? An uneasiness filled her heart. She could still read Edward since she had lived with him for a long time to know his heart.

But in her past life, she had only a few interactions with Damon. And each time he had left her only bewildered. Sometimes he would show her enough kindness to melt her heart.

But the rest of the time, he was so cold and indifferent that she wondered if he even knew who she was! And at last, he had killed her. Olivia gasped as she opened her eyes suddenly.

She did not realize when she had fallen asleep but the same nightmare had awoken her from her sleep.

She looked around looking restless. Her eyes fell on the shining moon. It must have been three hours already and it must be close to midnight.

She found the maids were sleeping, leaning on the windows of each side. She shook her head and closed her eyes again to get some rest when the carriage shook suddenly.

Before she could understand what happened. The carriage tilted to its left and lost its balance. It shook hard and then they all were pushed to their left.

Before the carriage could fall completely and their faces scratch the window, someone opened the door forcefully.

"The wheel is detached from the carriage, you must jump out of it or you would suffer." Damon warned as he opened his arms. The frantic neigh of the horses and the screams of knights and maids could be heard in the background.

Everyone looked terrified but Olivia only stared at Damon calmly. He was taken aback by her calm posture.

But when she did not react, he held her by her waist and pulled her out of the carriage.

The moment she was taken out, the horses screamed louder and started running. The attached carriage was dragged by them with force.

The maids still inside screamed loudly. The carriage without wheels had lost its balance and had fallen on its left side. The maids had been pushed to the left by the force, they held the seat tightly, yet their feets were dragged by the force, wounding them in the process.

Four knights rode on their horses and followed the carriage closely. They cut the attaching ropes and finally the horse gained their awaited freedom.

They ran away without looking back. The carriage finally stopped moving. It tumbled on the ground and rolled before it stopped moving.

When the knights opened the door on the right side, the maids were standing inside looking miserable.

Their heads were bleeding and they had so many wounds all over their body. Some looked severe. The knights pulled the maids out and they laid on the ground while crying profusely.

"My lord, the maids need immediate treatment!"
