Chapter 52: Getting Married!

"Did your highness give permission for the picnic?" Leo could not help but stare at his aunt. She had been gone for a week. Lost! Disappeared into thin air. And now that she had returned, he could not help but steal a few glances at her. She looked so different. Except curling her hair, he could not point at the difference, yet she felt completely different at once.

"I never knew changing hairstyle could bring so much change in a person." Olivia chuckled as she pinched his nose. "Hey! I am not a small kid anymore. Be careful." but she only pinched harder.

Abi entered the room wearing a beautiful dress. She giggled as soon as Olivia turned to look at her and twirled to show her new dress.

"Oh my! Abi, you look beautiful." the girl laughed again, her skin full of bright radiance.

"My mother had gifted this to me." with her head high, she announced as if it was nothing less than a miracle.

The daughter of a duke boosting over a new dress as if it was a rare treasure, Olivia’s heart was pricked. But she nodded with a smile on her face.

"And it suits you perfectly, my sister had a good taste." blushing, Abi ran to her arms. Olivia picked her up and laughed.

"Oh my! I never knew you can feel shy Abi." The girl only leaned closer and hid her face in the crook of Olivia’s neck. She rubbed her face lovingly.

"Hmm, shall we go then?" Leo stared at his sister with a look of pity. But Olivia did not move. She scanned their room as if she was searching for something.

Leo paused and looked around too. But he did not understand what she was looking for.

"Hmm, where are your toys?"

"My toys?" Leo frowned. He had them?

"Forget it, we will make a small visit to the kitchen first then." his frown only grew deeper. But Olivia did not explain further. He followed Olivia closely as she chose large spoons, bowls, glasses and various other cutlery from the kitchen and asked them to pack it with their picnic basket.

Abi wriggled and walked with her brother when she noticed Olivia had too much to hold.

As they walked, they noticed no maid or knight was following them. It was rare since two knights followed them even if they went to their garden for a walk.

"Freedom feels strange. Why are the knights not coming with us?" Leo could not help but ask when they had walked far away from the manor. They have just crossed the training ground. But there were not many knights practicing.

Leo’s eyes lingered there for a long time.

"Olivia, did you hear anything about my brother?" Olivia paused, relieved that the maids were not following them and Oriana would not know about it.

"The lord must return soon. I heard that the barbarians were already caught and the battle had ended with our success." Olivia lied. She had not heard any news. But she had already shared all the enemy’s plans for the war. He must have won it already.

"Really?" Leo looked pleased. "I knew that my brother was strong. But he is fantastic! To defeat the whole army of barbarian in just two weeks, I am proud of him." Leo nodded his head making Olivia laugh.

"You are just six years old. Must you act like an elder who had the right to judge?" Olivia pinched his nose again making his eyes teary. "And you better not speak about it in front of your mother or she would think i am sniffing around too much." Leo nodded in an instant. Praising Damon in front of her would only be bringing trouble. He was not that fool.

He followed Olivia closely as she told Abi about the moon festival ball of the royal palace. The eyes of the girl had widened hearing about the delicacies they had served and the royal dance.

"Aunt! You have danced with the prince." the girl gasped, "now he will marry you. And you will be a princess." Abi’s eyes gleamed with joy.

The girl had even forgotten that she was getting tired after a long walk. Leo frowned and looked at Olivia. He had heard that story too. Where the prince danced with a poor girl and fell in love.

The girl leaves nothing but the shoes behind. Yet he found her and married her. Then the poor girl was turned into a princess.

"Are you getting married, aunt?" Olivia had not taken Abi’s words to her heart. But when she noticed a look of abandonment in Leo’s eyes, she couldn’t help but feel guilty.

Abhi realized there was something wrong. She paused and stared at her brother when he frowned.

"She would leave us if she gets married." Only then did the girl realise her predicament. She wanted her aunt to be the princess but she did not want to be left alone. Her eyes blurred instantly with worry.

"Are you really getting married, aunt?" looking at their worried face, Olivia felt at a loss of words. She opened her mouth and closed it without knowing how to explain it.

"Aunt!" Abi walked closer and held her dress. "You do not need to take us to the picnic or play with us. As long as you are around, I do not want anything else." Leo frowned at his sister but like always, he did not stop her from speaking. But he stared at the stunned look of his aunt with an ominous feeling.

His chest hurt suddenly when Olivia laughed at them, making them dumbfounded.

"What are you both talking about?" Her words made them blink. Did they get it wrong? "I am still too young to get married. I have yet to see Leo swinging a sword and you still need to recite the whole genealogy of the royal family. Until then, you can not get rid of me."
