Chapter 252: Train!

Liliana opened her mouth, then closed it again. Her shoulders slumped as she stared at Olivia.

"You are afraid, but you should not be! You have gained power that no one ever had!"

Olivia let the silence settle between them for a moment, the weight of Liliana’s words pressing down on her chest like a stone.

"Do you know a way to test it?" Olivia finally asked, her voice soft, almost hesitant. As if she knew that the answer would disappoint her. "Or any ritual that could reverse what happened?"

Lilliana blinked. What Olivia had gained was unique. No one had that kind of power before.

"Only you could think of reversing the power you have gained, Olivia! But I am sorry, I do not know how to reverse your power. The ritual to wake a bloodwitch is the most twisted ritual in itself. Not anyone could do that. And it needs at least twenty witches to join their power to perform it."

"Maybe the power is a boon to some witches. But I do not want it. I want a normal life where I could live happily with Damon. I want to have a simple family with him. But now, I am afraid... every time he touches me, I am afraid that I would be pregnant by that! I do not want to spread my curse." liliana’s eyes widened as she heard pain in Olivia’s voice. For once, she was lost for words.

They sat in silence again, only the faint rustle of leaves breaking the stillness.

Liliana exhaled deeply, glancing sideways at Olivia. "Then what do you want to do about it? Do you have any plans?"

Olivia’s eyes followed the stretch of trees before them, their loneliness seeping into her bones. "I don’t have one either," she said, her voice tinged with tired honesty. "All I can do is wait and see what happens to me."

She picked up a small twig and rolled it between her fingers absently. "But if I am changing, if I am becoming something else, I need to understand it. I need to learn about this magic that others can perform. If I don’t, I won’t be able to control it and make a mistake when they come to fight with me again. And I can’t let the war hurt anyone like this time. The village had been ruined completely."

"I want to protect the city," Olivia continued, her gaze turning fierce despite her exhaustion. "No matter what happens to me, I need to make sure witches don’t become a threat."

Liliana hesitated. "It is not your mistake, you should not take the burden of it, Olivia."

"They would not have come if not for me. I do not want to run away from reality, Liliana. I want to stand against it. That is why I need to know more," Olivia said with her eyes narrowing. "I want to know more about the witches, about their magic and about me."

Liliana was quiet for a long time before she sighed and finally spoke. "The witches didn’t want war, Olivia. That wasn’t how it started. Most of us wanted peace, to live in the corners of the world where no one would hunt us. But they kept coming. Burning our homes, killing our sisters. Generations of fear and hate twisted us until... until we stopped running. So you can not blame us too."

Olivia did not. She knew Lilliana had chosen to stand against witches only because she did not want people to die. But years of loyalty could not disappear in a flicker. Liliana was a proud witch and she would never feel witches are wrong.

But it was already commendable that she was ready to stand against them for humanity. She could feel her grief, but alas, she could not connect with it.

Olivia’s fingers tightened around the twig in her hand until it snapped. "And now I am becoming something even the witches are afraid of. They would come for me again, this time with more power and support." to which liliana nodded without a thought.

"I will help you," Liliana said at last, voice barely above a whisper. "I do not know if my support could bring any change but I will stand with you even if it means standing against the coven."

Olivia looked at her, eyes glinting with something like gratitude. "Thank you, I could not have come this far without you. If this magic inside me grows darker, I want you to find a way to stop me."

Lilliana looked into her eyes easily but she controlled her emotion and laughed.

"You make it seem like you are a monster when you have saved the village, Olivia. You are their hero. Do not think otherwise. Come, let’s see what you can do and what you can not!" Liliana stood up at once and patted her dress.

Olivia blinked. When she had come here, she had come to get some peace. Her mind was chaotic ever since she had woken up. And Damon’s blood had quenched her thirst but her mind had not accepted it. What’s worse is, she could not stop this thirst! She wanted more of it.

"Now?" it would be the last thing she wanted to do. But Liliana only smiled as if she could read Olivia’s thoughts.

"Yes, now! Or do you want the world to wake up first? Damon to come here in search of you and witches to return and haunt you before training?" Liliana scoffed in a teasing voice. Olivia closed her eyes, resting was a luxury she could not afford now.

She forced herself to stand up even when her brain shouted against it and looked around.

"What do you want me to do?" Though her voice was still reluctant, she was prepared for it. Liliana felt a tinge of guilt for pushing the young girl too much. But she did not show it on her face. She only smirked and held Olivia’s hand.

"We are too close to humans, first we need to leave from here."
