Chapter 153: Do You Love Her?

Olivia felt herself moving. She forced her eyes to open but she was only on her bed. She blinked and looked around the dark room. Through her misty eyes, she saw nothing and shook her head. When she returned to sleep, Damon walked out with leo.

"Why did we hide behind the curtain?" The young boy frowned and struggled but Damon did not let go. He watched her sleeping for three more seconds before pulling Leo out.

"It is time that we sit down and talk like men." Leo stiffened at those words. His eyes widened and shrunk. "I will not kill you." Damon added, as if it was necessary but it did not relieve Leo at all.

The walk from Olivia’s room to Damon’s room was long and the silence made every step difficult.

When the door was closed behind him, Leo shivered. He held the corner of his shirt as he walked in. Damon was already sitting when Leo took the seat across from him.

"Your mother has gone north. To meet the ducal family there, hoping that they would support her when the royal family had refused to listen to her demands. By imperial law, the eldest child takes the inheritance and title. It is the mutual consent of the family how much he wanted to offer the second child. Most of the time, it is the properties and title of baron or something and the second child becomes the vassal of the ducal house." Damon paused and Leo nodded. He did not mind getting the title of a baron and a few properties.

This was already much better than living here on the edges. Afraid when Damon would change his mood and kill them.

"But in some cases, the second child had inherited the title. He had killed the first child and announced himself the duke or king. But you do not have that power or age." Leo knew the last word was added for his comfort. He nodded softly looking at his own tiny hands. He could not compare to Damon and he did not feel hurt accepting the truth.

"I..."

"I wanted to kill you and your family first." Leo stiffened. He was going to apologize for his rude behavior and thank Damon for his magnanimity. But now he stared at him wide eyed.

"Your mother had sent many assassins when i was younger to you. It would not make me lesser than her if i do the same. I even have the reason for so -called revenge." His voice was so grave that it left shivers running through Leo’s spine.

Damon watched him intently.

"But I would not do it anymore because your aunt cares for you a lot. And I intend to marry her." Leo stood up abruptly. He only realized it when Damon narrowed his eyes. "A child like you could never marry her even if i don’t marry her." Damon spat coldly. Leo bit his lips. He felt like needles were poking him when he forced himself to sit on the chair again.

"I want you and your sister to help me in convincing her to marry me tomorrow. I know you are the only way." The words came out more like a command and Leo wanted to laugh. What made Damon think that they would help her. Expecting power and wealth, what did he hold?

"I refuse." Leo stared back, collecting his strength. "I will not force her to do anything."

He was ready for a death threat or worse, a dagger on his neck as he challenged Damon with his eyes. But to his surprise Damon only nodded as if the repl was his expectation. It felt Leo baffled.

"Then she would marry a second prince. Prince Edward had hundreds of lovers already, if not thousands. I am sure one or two might be pregnant too. Your aunt would stand in a line to gain his affection." he added with a smirk on his face making Leo frown.

"But... she likes him?" Leo was more baffled. He did not know the details. But the prince had sent betrothal gifts a long time ago and Olivia had accepted it.

"No! She is marrying him to provide you and your sister protection in the absence of your mother." Damon did not mince his words at all. He served them plainly. The child looked shocked and then guilt filled his eyes. He bit his lips hard to make sure that he did not cry.

Rare courage! Damon appreciated it as he nodded.

"I will provide that safety to you and your sister. And I will never have another lover except your sister and I will respect her. You have ten minutes to decide."

"...." Damon had a strong presence. He had killed hundreds of barbarians if not thousand. His aura was wrong and oppressing. Leo was just a child. It was hard to bear his eyes.

"Why should I trust you?" Leo frowned, "my aunt..."

"Because I am a knight. I never break my oaths. And you can stay with her to confirm it yourself."Damon smirked. He knew he had already won this round. If only Olivia was this easy to talk to. The girl was against him even when he provided better choices and offers.

He watched Leo’s resolve crumble slowly. The young boy took a deep breath and nodded. A smile crept on Damon;s face.

"Tomorrow when your sister return, you have to tell her to marry me." Leo frowned deeper. It was hard to understand Damon even when he was speaking so plainly.

"And why would she listen to us?" Leo looked helpless. "She only treats us as kids."

"I will handle that.. You only need to do what you are told." Damon waved his hands ending the matter. Leo stood up not wanting to be in his presence anymore.

Damon wanted him to say so, he would. Not like Olivia was going to listen to her anyways. He still hoped that his aunt would find her happiness. But.. what if...

"Damon, do you love my aunt?"
