Reborn, Its Time To Save My Family And.. My Enemy! -
Chapter 139: Friend Or Foe
Chapter 139: Friend Or Foe
A sore taste filled her mouth. She felt like a fish trapped in the net. No matter how much she tries, the net around her is only tightening, slowly sucking her life.
"What do you want from me?" she exhaled, she would not give it up. There were rare fish that returned to water instead.
He looked at me strangely. Her body felt heated suddenly as his gaze moved from her face to her chest. No! There was no way that he would be interested in her. He was so rude and cold to her.
"Lust!" She held her dress tightly.
"I want you to ask your sister to return and behave like a widow for the start. Then I want those siblings of mine to behave like one. If my image improves and his majesty confirms my seat, I will give them a better life too." Damon stabbed the pie again.
He was stating his terms and she was submissively accepting everything. She had not refused then why did he look so furious!
"I can do that." she nodded hurriedly, hoping that he would not be irked further.
"But about their safety.." he stood up at once pulling the chair with him. Did he not hear her? She was accepting his terms.
He raised a brow as she stared at him. "Are you not coming with me?" She was? She looked at him in confusion but when she noticed his displeased look, she clenched her hands and stood up.
"Where are we going?"
"To give you a taste!" taste? Taste of what? She wanted to scream already! Could he not speak like a normal man?
But he had already walked with large strides. And she had to hop and run to make sure that she followed him closely.
They descended the stairs hurriedly. The maid stopping their work and staring at her in confusion as if asking? Why are the enemies walking together? Olivia closed her eyes. She wanted answers too. But I would give it to them.
She only knew that if she did not follow him closely, the demon would be angry again. So, she ignored all those eyes and walked behind him.
But a frown settled on her lips when he went to the kitchen. There were four maids working there. Two were baking the bread. One was cutting the vegetables and the other was arranging the dishes on a tray.
They all paused and stared at them in confusion before bowing their heads and greeting them.
"Your highness, my lady!"
"I heard that Leo is not served food today." The maid froze and Olivia frowned deeper.
"That... your highness." The maid stuttered, not sure how to explain. "The lady had directed us to not make their meals anymore. She wanted to cook for them and take care of them until their mother returned." The maid chose her words wisely as she was not sure if Damon was angry or he was just testing them.
After all, he had just given them a bonus. The maids looked at Olivia urging her to speak with their eyes.
"They are my brother and sister!" Damon ignored Olivia’s eyes on him. "No matter what they would be served the same food. If I fail again, I will dismiss the person without any severance pay or recommendation letter. And if someone tried to play tricks on them using my name they would end up with Agatha. I am sure she is lonely there." the maid shivered and bowed their head hurriedly.
They were afraid to even breathe loudly. Worried that their action might bring his attention and wrath.
"Did you not hear me?" his voice fell. Low and charming like a devil whispering in their ears but they knew better. It was not whispering, it was a real devil. One wrong step and they would fall in hell.
"Yes, your grace." they all bowed at once with fear crawling on their chest. Damon nodded looking satisfied and then he turned to meet Olivia’s eyes. She looked shaken. Why?
"Do you have any other proposition, my lady." Olivia shook her head. Her cheeks flushing again as he stared at her.
"Then we are done here." he spoke in a cold voice before leaving her behind. Damon took quick steps as if Demons were chasing him. How ironic! Usually he welcomes them.
But the look on Olivia’s face had stunned him. When she had asked what he wanted, he was about to say "you" but he froze when he noticed the fear in her eyes.
She did not like him. She liked Edward. He had to make sure that her heart was empty before he snatched that place for himself. He did not want to force her.
But god! She was making him crazy! Damon ignored his throbbing heart and went to the training room. Two knights were sparring there while Theodore was standing in the corner with a horrified look on his face.
Damon frowned as he watched him.
"What happened?" Theodore flinched. It was not like him to miss someone coming. He bowed his head hurriedly.
"Your grace. You are here." The man hesitantly looked at the corner and Damon noticed a parchment there.
"What is it?" he asked again, making the man flinch.
"Your grace! His majesty had sent a letter to the duchy." the man spoke in a strained voice. "He wants you to return to the royal palace but.. He did not want you alone there, my lord. He wants Lady WIthermoon to accompany you there." Damon paused.
He extended his hand and Theodore retrieved the letter hurriedly and gave it to him. His eyes flickered as he read the letter. His eyes gleaming with a viscous smirk adorning his face.
"My lord.."
"Theodore! Do you believe I encountered my mother there? Could this be her trick?" Theodore had the same thoughts but he was not sure. The letter can be a good opportunity or a bigger trap.
"You are not specialized in socializing my lord. More than that, you are not prepared for your duty as an envoy. And we do not know if Lady Withermoon is a friend or a foe."
