Chapter 135: You Forgot Your Past!

Chapter 135: You Forgot Your Past!

"My lady.." the maid stared at the royal carriage as if they were staring at a monster coming from another region. They did not know how to react for a long time.

If it had been three days earlier, they would have danced with joy that Olivia was getting support from the royal palace. But only last night, Damon had called all of them.

He had given them a bonus and forgiven their old crimes. But he had left a warning that he would not forgive their future crimes. And to prove his point, he had punished Agatha for mixing drugs in his meal.

The woman had cried for hours telling it was not her. Everyone knew that Agatha was the personal maid of the duchess. She would never make such a mistake. But at the same time, they understood why she was accused. Damon was getting rid of future threats. They did not want to be one of them. Losing their job was still bearable. But ending in prison would not only ruin their future but their marriage too.

And a woman without a man could not survive. They shuddered just thinking about it. They did not want to fall on his bad side.

The chances of the duchess returning and gaining powers were bleak. Damon was their future.

They watched as Olivia smiled at the man and came out with so many bags. The guard said something and took half of the bags from her.

"Sarah, you do and help her. Are you not close with her already?" other maids pushed her, making her frown.

"But I heard that she helped Daisy when her sister needed treatment. Should she not be the first to go?" Sarah glared at Daisy. Daisy was holding her dress so tight that her knuckles turned white. When all the maids turned to look at her, she stiffened.

"Yes! I will go." Though she was still scared, she could not ignore Olivia. The girl had helped them with all the silver.

She took hurried steps toward Olivia while all the maids looked at her with worry and... guilt!

"Ah, daisy!" Olivia smiled when she watched daisy. But looking at her ashen face, she frowned. "Are you alright?"

"Yes? Ah, yes, my lady. I should take those bags." She leaned closer and took the bags from Olivia. But Olivia took a step back and shook her head.

"I am fine. I can carry them inside. You should take the bags from Sir Walter. He is late for his other duties." Oliva smiled at the stoic man who frowned but did not comment.

Daisy bit her lips. It would leave a bad image if she let Olivia carry the bags inside. Normally, the maid would have called for another maid but Daisy knew, even if she called, the maids would not come and it would only insult Olivia further.

These maids.. They were all pleading with Olivia to take their side just a few days ago. And now that they have gotten the protection, they are pushing Olivia. Daisy played with her fingers looking pale.

"Daisy!" Daisy flinched when Olivia called her again.

"Yes, of course, my lady." Daisy took a deep breath. She would do what she was commanded to do. Rest could wait!

She took the bags from sir Walter. The man watched her with dark eyes before letting the bags go.

"Then I will bid my farewell, my lady." he bowed his head slightly and Olivia smiled.

"Yes, thank you for escorting me and listening to my words. I am relieved that you were my escort, sir walter." the man nodded politely looking stiff.

He looked at Daisy and then at the maid standing at the entrance before nodding and leaving.

Olivia smiled and walked in as if she did not notice any change. The maids had already scurried away as if they had a lot of tasks to complete. When Olivia stopped at the entrance there was only Sarah cleaning the vases near the entrance.

She looked at Olivia uneasily, her lowered eyes filled with guilt and worry for Daisy. But Daisy did not look back at Sarah. She had already chosen a path, and she was going to follow it till the end.

"My lady, shall I put the bags in your room?" she asked in a polite voice when Olivia paused.

"Did my sister return?" her question met the silence and lowered gaze of Daisy. Olivia sighed and closed her eyes. In the past, it had taken two weeks. She wondered how long it would take before Oriana would lose her sanity!

"Put the bags in Leo’s room. Where are they?" She took off her gloves and held the banister.

"Master Leo and Lady Abigail are in their room. My lady.." Daisy hesitated. "The lord and lady must be hungry." hungry? Olivia paused and looked at Daisy in confusion.

"Daisy.." Sarah whispered with censure in her voice but Daisy only looked at Olivia.

"My lady, his grace visited their room and he... he ate the lunch you have left for the master and lady. The kitchen did not serve them another portion since you have refused them to.. I am worried." Daisy was really troubled. She knew the kitchen did not serve them meals because they believed Damon wanted to starve the kids.

Why else would he ignore the royal meal they have cooked for him and eat the simple dishes like mashed potatoes and cheese cubes Olivia had left for the kids.

It must be his way to torment the kids. Before they used to ignore Damon and now they were doing it with Leo and Abi. Olivia understood that too. But she only smiled at Daisy.

"It is alright. I will handle it." She was relieved that she had taken so much food. Before, she wanted to treat the staff since they all were too tense these days. But now, she did not need to do it.

"Daisy, do not leave the room after putting the bags there. I have something for you."
