Chapter 128: Your Offer!

Damon watched when Oriana returned, her eyes were still wet and she looked like a ghost. Her face, her hair, her dress, everything was a mess. It made him wonder had she ever loved his father to be so hurt or she was worried about her future?

He would have been worried too if he had been at her place. He would have been at her place if not for her sister! Olivia! That girl. She would make him crazy.

Her small hints and dreadful words had made him realize, even if he killed his father, he would only be called a tyrant and power would stay in Oriana’s hands.

Even though Leo is small now, he will grow up one day. If he wanted to eliminate future threats, he must kill that child. His eyes instinctively fell on Leo.

The child was holding Olivia’s hand all that time. Though he looked hurt, he was not scared but now that he was standing behind his mother, he looked scared.

Could a child be scared of his own mother? But that was Oriana! Could she be even called a mother?

Damon pushed those thoughts away. He did not care whether she was mother or not. She wasn’t his mother and he did not have any obligation to keep her alive.

Just like he did not have any reason to keep Leo alive. Then why? Why did he not kill him too when his men asked him too?

Why did he not accept the marquis’ offer? The paper was still making a hole in his pocket while he should have burnt it the moment he had received this letter.

The woman finished her prayers and turned to look at him. Her eyes were still shooting daggers but she did not whisper a word more.

So much change just in a few minutes. Her sister was a devil! No other reason could justify how she controlled all of them.

Oriana, Prince Edward and even him! It was hard to accept, but Damon did not run away from his feelings. He knew he wanted Olivia. Not because she knew many things, not because she was mesmerizing. Not because she had that mesmerizing eyes and fiery hair. They were so soft that he wanted to run his finger in those hair while he pulled her closer and kissed her hard until she forgot about Edward or any other man.

Damon shook that thought away too. He was not running away from the idea he was only giving himself time so that he could win her first.

He watched the prince who had gone to socialize with other nobles. Speaking with them softly with a smile on his face. He was completely opposite to what Damon was.

Prince Edward had golden hair like the first ray of sunlight and blue eyes that shone like sapphires. His skin is so pale and smooth. He looked so gentle, so calm and had a way with words. He knew how to make a woman smile. How to win their hearts and leave them restless. He knew how to pull them to his bed!

While he was there, his skin was tanned with many rough scars. His hands were rough to hold and hair and eyes were white as if he had no life left. He did not know how to speak to women. They looked around like a scared rabbit when he spoke to them. He was nothing they wanted but only fear. How could he convince a woman like Olivia to leave the prince and choose him?

The man was not only handsome but held more power!

There is only one advantage, the prince had many women in his life while he... he would be loyal to her if she chose him. No! There was no place for it! She must have chosen him. His eyes found her again. She was standing near the door and talking to their butler.

He smiled at her and nodded. These days, he had noticed. All the staff was listening to her as if she was their only savior. How conveniently they had forgotten that they used to treat her like thin air.

She was never treated as a lady but as a servant here. Now that they did not have the courage to face him, they wanted to use her as their shield.

When the ceremony ended, she returned with three maids following her. She had brought drinks and light snacks and placed them in the connected room.

Then she walked to Oriana and the kids. She held them and returned. Damon only watched but did not follow.

But when Edward turned, he blocked the prince.

Edward raised a brow looking surprised, "ah! Did I forget to show my condolences to you, Lord Damon?" the man smiled softly. "I am stunned and sorry for your loss. But do not worry, lord. I will use all my resources to find the killer and give him a severe punishment. I will dismember his skin on the plaza in front of the crowd. I will make sure that he would suffer and beg for death before he was given one." the man smiled knowingly as he whispered those words.

The man was watching Damon to react. Damon would have! But Olivia had changed that in him. Now he knew how to control his thoughts better. Damon only smiled, surprising Edward.

"I am sure you can do that, your highness. Thank you for your care." he replied. "But that was not the only reason to approach you. Can we speak in private?" Edward looked at Damon with a cautious glance before nodding and following him in an empty room in the church.

"Your highness, the first prince sent me a letter, my lord. He wants me to support him. If I agreed, he would not only help me in claiming the position of duke but he would make sure that every courtier would welcome me when I joined the royal palace. I wanted to know your offer before deciding."
