Chapter 104: The Royal Decree

Amber’s eyes gleamed again. The fact that she could have this tool too and at the same time, if everyone can have it, there was nothing so special about it anymore.

Gabriella looked intently at Olivia too. Waiting for her reply.

"Of course, not. This is one and only design made on special request. But there are various kinds of poison testing tools. One could have them in different designs. My friend is only taking a customized order so that the enemy would never know if you have it or not." Gabriella nodded her head and Amber reluctantly followed.

So they could have poison testing tools. But at the same time, it was an exclusive piece.

Gabriella checked the piece. The more she looked at it, the more beautiful it looked in her hands. Recently, she had confirmed that Olivia had gifted incense to his majesty too. But she had made them herself. Could it be that she had made this too?

"Who is your friend?" She asked with a bored look as she placed the gift back on the table.

Olivia looked around awkwardly, her eyes stopping on the table filled with delicacies.

"I am afraid that she is a commoner, your majesty." her voice fell. "But I am sure her products are the best."

"That is fine, as long as she has talent, we will support her. Invite her to the palance next time, I want to see her other products." Olivia nodded with a smile on her face while Amber’s face darkened.

She held her cup tightly and took a sip. The tea time only ended with Olivia getting all the attention.

"Thank you for your invitation, your majesty. But I must meet his highness the crown prince before I leave." Amber bowed her head and left hastily in an hour.

Olivia followed the suit and stood up only to get a chuckle from Gabriella.

"Are you eager to go and meet Edward too, Olivia?" Olivia shook her head slightly.

"I am only leaving for Duke Aykroyd’s manor, your majesty." Gabriella watched the women intently. She had to admit that the Witherland sisters hold great charm and elegance. Men could be easily attracted to them.

Olivia looked exquisite in these dresses and makeup.

"Olivia, I know that you want to be Edward’s partner. You must know that his partner had to be decided two weeks ago. But he had been stalling it because of you." Gabriella waited for Olivia’s reply.

But the woman only smiled softly, as if she did not care about such affairs.

"Now, my son is begging me to choose you. Though you are well etiquette and know how to handle social gatherings, it is not enough for me to choose you as my daughter in law." Olivia sat again and smiled at the woman.

They never had a heartfelt conversation or confrontation in the past. If Gabriealla was telling her her thoughts, she must have felt Olivia was wise enough to understand them.

"Then which noble lady do you seem fitting, your majesty?" Gabriella watched intently, waiting to see panic on OLivia’s face. Or at least traces of worry in those deep eyes.

She wanted to hear boosts that she was better than others or she could do anything for Edward. But nothing came except her leisure and nonchalant reply as if they were only gossiping.

Gabriella frowned. If the girl was not serious enough..

"I am still looking for a good contender." Olivia smiled, making Gabriella’s face dark.

"It only meant that you would not be satisfied with any noble, your majesty. And I understand that well. After all, your highness is such an exceptional person. He is flawless with strong presence, wisdom, good strategy and better looks. He is the dream man of every woman in the empire. I am no different, your majesty. But I know, if you do not agree, it will only stay as a dream." her voice was so soft, so innocent that Gabriela blinked.

"I will only choose a strong woman. A woman who did not be a burden but be the strength of the brother so that he could contend for the crown prince position." Gabriella was surprised that she admitted it. Though everyone knew about her ambitions, she had never accepted them in front of anyone.

"This.."

"I can do it for you." Olivia boosted as she sat there with confidence. "I have sources, I have connections and I have a lot of trump cards that could prove his value in the royal palace. Give me three months, if I fail, you can choose to discard me, but if I win, I will sit in your place in the future." the woman announced, looking straight into the eyes of Gabriella.’

"..." Gabriella was stunned by her haughty voice. The way she looked at her, no one ever had the courage to do so!

"You.. ha! You are too full of yourself." she scowled but Olivia only smiled and said nothing.

"Fine! Three months! If you prove your worth by then, I will let you marry Edward. But whether you sit in my position or not will depend solely on your performance." Olivia blinked. She was only testing the waters. She was ready for refusals. No, she waited for them so that she could prove she was better. But who would have thought..

"Are you going to sit there like a fool and stare at me instead of thanking me and run away to share the news with Edward?" Gabriella raised a brow, amused by the girl. Was she not confident enough? Then why did she challenge so boldly?

Olivia finally blinked and stood up with a jolt.

"Ah! Yes, thank you majesty. Did it mean I will be invited as his fiance in the royal palace?" she confirmed only to receive laughter in return.

Now that Gabriella had laughed, her face softened a lot.

"Yes, I will send the letter for your sister and duke. You can pack necessary things and return in two days."
