Reborn, Its Time To Save My Family And.. My Enemy! -
Chapter 105: Marry Me!
Chapter 105: Marry Me!
Nora went straight to Abi’s room when she reached the palace. The journey was painfully long and she kept reading the letter again and again.
How much she had worked hard to get it. A letter from her majesty to choose her as prince consort candidate. In her last life, she had gotten it with Oriana’s hard work. But her reserved nature had kicked her out of the palace and then her life had become miserable.
This time, she had already changed the course. Yet, she did not feel happiness. As she watched the young girl sleeping with a serene face, her heart only tightened.
No, she did not want to leave the kids behind. But she did not have any choice. For their better future, for their survival she had to get more power.
But what surprised Olivia was.. Oriana was inside the room already.
"How was the meeting?" and she did not show her usual curiosity when she returned from the palace. Oriana looked exhausted. Was she tending to Abi all night? Though the thought felt bizarre, it gave a strange joy to Olivia.
She looked at her sister expectantly.
"Her majesty had chosen me a consort candidate and invited me to live in the royal palace for six months." She passed the letter to Oriana. Her gaze finally flickered as if she had come out of her daze.
With widened eyes, Oriana held the letter and read with gleaming eyes.
"Oh dear god! You did it? You did it! Olivia! Do you have any idea how happy I am?" her thrilled voice woke up the young girl. She rubbed her puffy eyes with her tiny hand and looked at her screaming mother in confusion.
"Mother! Aunt!" but Oriana didn’t hear her. She hugged Olivia tightly.
"You know when father and mother had left us, I vowed that we would never suffer again. We will do anything and everything to make our life better until this whole world looks up at us.
And now, you have done it. You have been chosen as part of the royal family. No one would ever mock us or look down on us." the voice felt distant as if she was not even talking to Olivia.
Olivia’s heart ached. She was too young to remember but she knew once.. Oriana had gone to ask for help from her mother’s relative and she had returned with a torn dress and tear filled eyes.
That time she was too young to understand but now, she knew well how much her sister had suffered.
She could not blame Oriana for doing what she had done. If only..
"Yes, I will be part of the royal family. And so do you, sister. My all power is at your disposal." Oriaana giggled like a child at those words.
She smiled brightly and hugged Olivia again. Slowly the words sunk in Abi’s mind too.
Her eyes widened with shock and she looked at her aunt with parted lips.
"Are you marrying a prince? What about Leo?" Olivia turned to look at the child and sighed.
"Abigail! She will be prince consort!" Oriana chided but Abi only looked disappointed. She held the duvet tightly and her face dimmed.
Olivia’s heart ached looking at her heartbroken face. She walked closer and sat beside Abi. She hugged the little girl and smiled.
"I will come to meet you and Leo often. And soon I will call you to live with me in the royal palace." Abi raised her head and stared at her aunt curiously.
"You know there is a large garden with rare flowers and there are orchids too. And the royal ball room is so large with big chandeliers and balconies. If I become a royal princess, I will be able to invite you there too. You can dance there in your new gown." Olivia hid her smile by biting her lips when Abi’s eyes gleamed.
A rare hint of jealousy flashed in Oriana’s eyes as she watched Olivia coddling Abi. The girl looked so happy and protected. She was sitting there the whole night, but whenever Abi coughed in the night or asked for water, she was stunned to see Oriana around. To the point that she did not even take water from her hands.
As if Oriana was a stranger and Olivia was her real mother. Bitterness filled Oriana but she hid it. Olivia was their aunt, she was going to leave soon anyway.
Oriana pushed the negative thoughts away and called for the maids.
"Prepare for a feast. Inform his grace and pass this letter to him." She passed the empress decree to the maid. "And call for the best designer and traders. My sister needs a lot of preparation before leaving." Oriana watched her daughter’s face dimming again.
She smirked and turned around.
"Olivia came to my room in half an hour. You can not leave for the palace without preparation." Olivia nodded with a hard face.
"Aunt! Must you really leave? I do not need those rare flowers or ball parties." Abi’s eyes filled with unshed tears as she looked at her aunt. "I do not want to live in the palace alone with my mother. Leo would be hurt too. He wanted to marry you when he grew up." she spilled it with an ashen face. "He is preparing hard for it. He would be disheartened if you would marry someone else."
"... Leo wanted to marry me?" Olivia blinked her eyes and then laughed heartily. "Let me share a secret with you. One can marry twice if the other man belongs to her family. So let him grow up well. Alright?" Abi gasped with widened eyes.
"Is that true?" she whispered with a look of relief. "Then you must marry my brother when the time comes." Olivia laughed and nodded as she hugged Abi and helped her with her medicines before leaving the room.
When she passed the room, she did not notice a dark figure disappearing from there.
