Chapter 100: My Daughter
Chapter 100: My Daughter
Oriana was stunned to see Abi on Olivia’s back. She had a large scarf covering her face.
"Olivia.." Oriana took steps closer hastily but stopped looking at the red mark on the scarf. Abi was bleeding.
"Ah! Your grace! The lady was learning horse riding but fell from her horse. I am taking her to the physician first." Olivia walked past Oriana. Oriana noticed the large cut on her legs too. Her clothes were covered with dust and twigs.
Her eyes widened at once and she was frozen until the girl was taken away.
"Young lord are you alright?" Agatha’s shrill voice brought Oriana back to her senses. She blinked and found Leo walking closer. His clothes were covered in dirt too but he did not have any visible injury.
He was running to follow Olivia. Agatha’s concern paused him on his tracks and he took a deep breath.
"I am fine, Agatha. My horse did not go rampant but my sisters!" he told her in an impatient voice but the woman did not take the hint.
She kneeled and checked his body with worried eyes. Oriana stared at her action with a strange uneasiness.
"Thank goodness you are injured, my lord. Or what would we have done? A mark on the royal body could.." she shook her head and stared at the sky with a look of relief again.
Leo gritted his teeth. His pale face was red now.
"I have already told you, it is my sister who got injured. You should be worried about her and go check her for injuries." he spat those words with a frown as he wriggled in Agatha’s grip.
"Ah! I am sure the young lady would improve under the guidance of the physician. You should return to your room and rest, young lord. I will bring turmeric milk for you. You will feel better after resting." The woman kept on and on making Leo infuriated. He pushed the woman away but his strength was nothing in her comparison.
His face went red and huffing.
"Let me go! I want to go and see my sister." he glared at the woman, making Agatha worry.
"Young lord, you are still so young. What could you do? You should go and rest. The staff will take care of the lady. You should understand, you are not like her. You could be the future heir of the dukedom. No, you will be its future heir.
Your life is far more important than anyone."
"Agatha! Let him go." The low voice was barely audible between their arguments. Yet Leo turned to look at his mother.
Leo turned to look at his mother with resentment filled eyes.
"But my lady." Agatha let go of Leo but looked at Oriana with a worried face.
"Go! Do you not want to see her anymore?" as if a spell had been broken. Leo blind and then took hurried steps toward the entrance but he paused when he reached the door. He turned to look at his mother with cold eyes.
"I will not be the heir!" he screamed before disappearing in the corridors.
"Your grace, you should not blame the child. He is still young and does not understand. It is my lady’s fault. She did not teach the young lord properly." Agatha looked worried, "if the young lord would not be separated from his sister and trained well, he would never be ambitious enough. He does not understand that his future and the young lady’s future are different. He had responsibility on his shoulders as your only son." Oriana’s grip tightened on her gown as she watched the empty corridor. There was a trail of blood left behind by Abi.
Her daughter was injured.
"Young lady, did not even look like the ducal family. She is not even intelligent enough to attract the attention of nobles. Yet the young lord seems to be so affectionate of her. I can not fathom what would happen if he behaved like this in front of the guests." Oriana blinked. She tore her gaze away from the blood that seemed to trap her.
"He is still young, he will learn. But remember, he is the lord. You can not cross him, you are still a staff as he is the future heir." Agastha’s face went ugly but she bowed her head urgently to hide her expressions.
"Yes, your grace. I understand. Shall we go for a walk or shall I call lady Olivia to meet you?" Agatha asked carefully. Something had changed in her expressions so Agatha treaded carefully.
"your grace."
"i will return after an hour. You go first and check the preparations!" Oriana walked away with a dazed face. Agathan frowned.
"please wait, your grace. What kind of preparations do i need to check?" Agatha asked in a shrill voice but Oriana did not hear her. she followed the blood trail and walked toward the physician room. Abi was already lying on the bed with her eyes closed her face pale and coverd with sweat. The Physician had took out an ointment and Olivia applying it on Abi.
"There, there. you will feel better soon." Her soothing voice was full of warmth of a mother. Oriana felt uneasy standing there. perhaps, she should return.
"she would be fine! but there will be a scar on her leg." the man sighed looking guilty. Olivia looked at Abi and caressed her cheeks.
"If my father had made the ointement..." she did not continue but her eyes turned misty and she looked away. as if a jolt of electricity had hit Oriana. she moved in and stood behind Olivia with widened eyes. Olivia looked at her sister with a confused face. Oriana hesitated as she looked at her daughter and then inhaled a deep breath.
"if it is about that ointment, i can make it. I have made it before."
"Your grace!" The Physicain was stunned.
"are you sure? I can help you in storting out the herbs, sister."
