Chapter 101: Lose His Composure!

Chapter 101: Lose His Composure!

"Father! Since lord Damon had already cleared the land from barbarians, it is the right time that we prepare a path for trade from eastern countries. Otherwise the land could be captured by other barbarians again. We need to assign knights personally to make sure the same event would not repeat.

Elio spoke as he passed the report to his majesty, William. He gave a provoking look to Edward who was sitting beside his father. "I have made the detailed plan already. We can start working on it as soon as you confirm it."

Elio waited for Edward to lose his composure and looked eager but Edward only smiled leisurely as if there was nothing he should be worried about.

"Ah! Elio." WIlliam looked at the file with an awkward smile. "I have called you here to discuss this matter only. Edward had already submitted the plan last night."

"...." Elio looked at Edward in confusion. The man was busy flirting with Olivia Witherland for two days. He had confirmed personally that he did not leave his premises or called any officials there. Who had made that file and when?

He looked dumbfounded when Edwaed finally met his eyes and smiled, leaving Elio burnt with seething anger.

"Since you have worked hard on it, I will study both plans and follow the better one," the man smiled at the bride, "I am lucky that my both sons are too competent and working hard for the welfare of the empire." he patted Elio’s shoulders.

Elio forced a smile on his face and nodded with a submissive look when William collected the files and left the room.

"Who made it for you?" Elio could not contain his anger and curiosity. He knew better than anyone Edward only knew how to enjoy pleasures.

Edward raised a brow, surprised.

"Brother, are you claiming that I did not make it?" he looked hurt, "you should trust your younger brother better." Elio frowned. His chest tightened with fuming anger but he held it in.

"Edward, I do not know what you are planning but my plan is flawless. I am going to win this round just like I am going to win the crown." he spat those words coldly and left the room. Edward only smiled.

He was surprised since he was never informed about the details. Elio must have used his sources to hide the details of the invasion. If not for Olivia sending him the file and the details of the plan he would have never known about it.

He felt giddy just by looking at the seething face of Elio. Now he was sure that Olivia was the one for him. He did not need the help of Duke Aykroyd to get the crown for himself.

He looked at his mother, "did you see it?" Gabriella held the fork tightly in her hands.

Edward had brought the file Olivia had left for him. And noticed the reaction of Elio too. Who knew better than her that William was pinning his hopes on eastern countries to fight against the drought.

If Edward proved to be useful his position for the crown prince would be stable.

"But how did she know about it when even your sources failed to know the details?" she eyed her son with a piercing glance.

Edward rolled his eyes.

"Why would I give my credit to a woman? You know me well, mother. I believe in taking, not giving." Gabbriella sighed.

He was spot on. She was worried that he was head over heels of Olivia and making this story so that she would accept him.

"Alright, bring her to meet me. I will make my decision only after testing her." Edward leapt from her seat with joy evident in his cold eyes.

"Yes, mother. I am sure she would not disappoint you." he wrapped his arms around her shoulders with a bright smile. Gabriella leaned on her son.

What had she not done to strengthen his position as the crown prince? If it meant marrying Olivia, so be it!

"But if she failed.." she warned but Edward only shook his head with confidence.

"That would never happen!"

"You need not worry, Abi is fine. I am sure it would not leave a scar if we apply the ointment well." Oriana looked away. She was not worried about her daughter, she was only worried about the scar since Abi had to marry a noble in the future.

It could ruin her future prospectus! That was it. Olivia watched her sister struggling as she made the ointment herself. Suddenly, she covered Oriana’s hands with hers. In the past, she had never tried. But now, she could not give up on any chance.

"Sister! I thought you had forgotten all about it. You know we could have earned a good living just by working as herbalists." Oriana flinched. Her hands froze on the herbs. She stared at them as if they were her enemy

"I.. I only remember a bit. And we have a good life here already. So why discuss the past. You go ahead and sit with Abigail, I will be done here soon." looking at the hesitating face of her sister, Olivia did not press much but nodded.

"Then I will make it since I remember it better. You should go and sit with Abi. She longs for you, sister. She is just a child and must be very scared." Oriana hesitated. Even when Olivia took the herbs from her and started sorting them, she did not stand up at once but kept staring at Olivia’s nimble hands.

It reminds her of a fading memory where her father used to clean the herbs and make ointments.

"Oriana, you would be the future of this estate, so you should learn well. These herbs would be our golden future. One day our medicines would be sold so well that even the royal family had to knock on our doors to buy them. Haha!" the soft voice still whispered in her ears like the hissing of a venomous snake.
