Chapter 79: Chapter 79 Bet Over Sushi

"I shouldn’t have acted like a jerk. And feel entitled. I shouldn’t have hurt you by indulging another woman—even though she means nothing to me—I should have considered your feelings more before opting to canceling the vacation and also..." Kingsley almost ran out of breath. "And I have no right to question you about stuff like that.." he shrugged. "Maybe,I’m just another self-centered and entitled man. I’m sorry."

Jasmine bit her inner cheek unknownily. Kingsley’s head was lowered a little, his eyes were sad and she could tell everything he had said was genuine.

"And you were annoying.." Jasmine muttered.

Kingsley repeated. "And I was annoying."

Jasmine held back her chuckle. "And very mean."

Kingsley raised his eyes. "And I’m sorry." He whispered. "I regret yelling and raising my voice at you."

Jasmine tucked her hand into her purse, not sure how to feel about his apologies.

"Please, come home." His shoulder slump like an abandoned puppy. Those faint lines appeared on his forehead. "I miss you a lot,Wifey and the bedroom felt so cold and lonely last night. I couldn’t sleep all through the night because I was worried about you and I miss you greatly."

Jasmine looked back at Nicole’s lonely apartment which she has spent the night and back at Kingsley who had somehow become her home.

Jasmine muttered. "And about that Ex-fiancée of yours??" Her eyes squinted. Jealousy consumed her and she saw red.

"I never planned to stay in contact with her. You don’t have to worry about her.."

"Let me be the judge of that. I can decide to worry about her or not.." Jasmine snarled. "I don’t want her close to us."

Kingsley nodded, agreeing in less than two seconds. "Of course. It can be done."

Jasmine stared at him in a wary before nodding too. "Good."

A small smile found their way to Kingsley’s lips. "We’re good now??"

Without a word,Jasmine brushed past him. "If you don’t stop smiling,I might get pissed again."

Kingsley quickly followed like a loyal lamb. "And then I’ll kiss you till you can’t help but tell me you’re happy with me."

Jasmine scoffed loudly but a smile was on her face. They continued to banter words with each other like high schoolers as they walked down the road, heading to the coffee and sushi spot.

It was worth the wait for Kingsley. He arrived at Nicole’s apartment at exactly 5Am that morning. He waited for everyone else to leave before he would approach Jasmine.

He expected her to lash out and maybe kick his balls—like In movies.

But she did not. And he was grateful.

Kingsley left his car parked in Nicole’s apartment. He felt contented walking alongside Jasmine, gossiping about random things as they strode to the store on foot.

It felt so relieving. No car,no bodyguards. Just like any normal couples on a morning walk going to get coffee at the Downtown bar.

It was yet another moment Kingsley enjoyed with Jasmine. The air kissing their skin as they chatted.

Getting to the spot,Kingsley stood in line to get Jasmine Sushi while Jasmine sat on the table, waiting for him.

It was a whole new experience for Kingsley who was never found on a queue. Things were done orderly and his every meals were served to him. Never had he stayed in line to get food.

The smell of cologne, sweat and sushi filled with small local store. Finally,it got to his turn and he was relieved to be finally out of there.

"Holy cow. How do you know of this place?? It’s so crowded and polluted with stew and soup combined with beer." Kingsley complained.

Jasmine giggled. "Perks of being friends with Nicole. She brought me to this spot in several occasions." Her mouth watered when Kingsley dropped the sushi tray on the table. "And trust me. This is the best sushi you can ever get out here in LA."

"I don’t think so." Kingsley was displeased by everything. The air around there, the crowd of people and the store itself. The only good thing around him was Jasmine’s presence. "If you think this will taste good, then you need to fix your taste bud."

"Want to bet ten thousand??" A mischievous and playful look surfaced on Jasmine’s face.

"And what do I get in return?? Apparently,I don’t need your money." Kingsley fold his arms around his chest. Just then,a fat lady who was holding a tray bumped into his chair.

"I’m sorry." She muttered before walking away.

Jasmine used her palm to hide her laugh when she saw how dark Kingsley’s face had become. His usual default Scowl had been pasted on his face.

He growled in a low tone. "Let’s leave this place. I hate it here." He had every reason to hate it.

There was little to no space in the store,a lot of noise from people who came to eat sushi. Even the scent of burnt sushi was everywhere, making Jasmine’s throat run dry.

"You need to see your face right now. You looked like a roasted bacon." Jasmine mocked him and Kingsley rolled his eyes in annoyance.

"You put me through a lot." He complained Inaudibly.

Jasmine changed the subject. "Anyways, what do you want if You win??"

Kingsley smiled widely. "A kiss."

Jasmine raised a single brow at him. "That’s quite unexpected but sweet." She gently removed the wraps around the tray, revealing a mouth watery sushi. The scent traveled into their nostrils and Kingsley couldn’t help but swallow it down his throat.

’Not bad’ he thought to himself but maintained a blank look not to give his fascination away.

"Here you go. Have a bite." Jasmine nudged the tray towards him and he picked one before taking a bite carefully...

His eyes widened a little but he was quick to fix his reactions.

Jasmine held her breath, her expectant eyes were on him, waiting for validation.

Kingsley raised a single brow with a bored look on his face. "Maybe my taste bud needs improvement." He took another bite and then another.

Jasmine scoffed at him. "The sushi is great. Just admit it."

"I never insinuated that but give me one more." Kingsley mumbled. He subconsciously licked the particles on his lips while waiting for Jasmine to hand another sushi. Surprisingly, the food was incredible. He probably owes his wife ten thousand.

A sweet smile settled on his face as he munched on the sushi,Jasmine also devoured hers in satisfaction. Maybe,it wasn’t about the bet...it was the sweet moment. The little events that connected the big ones making it an unforgettable day. And this day,Kingsley encraved it into his heart.
