Chapter 58 Out Of Coma
Chapter 58: Chapter 58 Out Of Coma
Pulling up in front of the house’s entrance, Kingsley remained in the car for a while. His face couldn’t be seen because it was dark outside and in the car as well.
After a moment of silence, Kingsley finally got out of the car and he spotted Raymond close to the door along with Mrs Jenkins.
Kingsley’s face was bland as he walked towards them. His hands were tucked into his pants pockets as he approached them slowly.
"Welcome back, Boss Elm." Raymond greeted.
"Good day, Mr Elm." Mrs Jenkins said, her eyes staring deeply at him as if trying to decipher his mood.
Kingsley hummed at Mrs Jenkins before saying in a husky tone. "You came. How’s your husband fairing?"
"He is much better now. Thank you for the support." Mrs Jenkins appreciated him with a calm smile on her face but sadness swirled in the depth of her eyes.
Kingsley nodded a little. "You’ll be resuming work soon?"
"Definitely. That’s one of the reasons I came today." Mrs Jenkins said. "And..." she trailed off. "And I also want to assure you that Mrs Elm will be out of coma soon. I have faith and I believe that it will happen sooner than you expect."
Kingsley’s eyes dimmed a little when Jasmine was mentioned but his lips stretched into a forced smile before nodding stiffly again. "Thank you." He muttered before bringing his gaze to Raymond.
"I just wanted to be sure you’re home.." Raymond uttered in a low voice.
Kingsley sighed before patting Raymond’s shoulder. "I’m okay." He said but not even sure that was the truth.
Raymond shook his head but didn’t say another word. Kingsley continued. "Go rest for the day. Tomorrow, we won’t be going to the office."
Raymond hummed. Not sure if to be happy that they would be taking the day off. Knowing Kingsley would use the day to wallow in his self-pity as usual. Unknown to him, Kingsley has learned.
"Everybody, Good night," Kingsley said before walking past them and pushing open the living room door.
Mrs Jenkins turned to look at Raymond and he shrugged back at her.
"I hope he doesn’t go up to his room to consume a bunch of drugs." Mrs Jenkins whispered.
"I hope so too," Raymond said. Thinking that could be the case. "Let’s go." He said and they both walked to the back of the mansion to their various apartment.
Kingsley’s face contorted when he got into his room. His eyes roamed around the place before landing on the safe on the wall. A deep sigh escaped his lips as his throat started to grow dry.
His hands clutched the phone that was in his hand. His eyes remained locked on the safe where his drugs were kept.
"I need to be okay to visit Jasmine tomorrow." He said to himself. His eyes averted from the safe but they traveled back there again. And he whispered. "Just this once, I’ll be fine before morning." He told himself.
Kingsley swallowed hard as he came towards the safe, his eyes growing dark. His hand tightened around the phone even more as he fought within himself.
The strong urge to consume some drugs was potent. He sucked in a deep breath through his nose and let them out through his mouth.
Luckily, his phone started to ring that moment, pulling him from his messed-up thoughts. He tore his gaze from the safe and looked at his phone and saw that it was an incoming call from his grandfather.
Kingsley slowly moved away from the safe and walked towards his window. His left hand found its way to his pocket as he stood in front of the window, the light from the moon resting on his figure. He placed the phone close to his ear after connecting the call. "Hello." His deep voice resounded in the room.
His broad back blocked the light from fully penetrating the room. His lone figure was kissed by the moon as he stood there.
Grandpa Elm’s voice came from the other end. "Hello, Grandson. I just wanted to remind you of the event you are to attend in my stead. Don’t forget about it." He said from the other end. Oblivious of what was going on.
"I don’t think I’ll be able to attend," Kingsley said sharply making Grandpa Elm frown a little.
"But you promised.."
"Something came up and I won’t be attending. If you want, I can have Raymond attend to represent the Elm family. For me?? I’m not going." He finalized.
"Kingsley Elm..." Grandpa Elm growled.
"Raymond will go." He said, his eyes digging into their sockets. His jaw tightened even more in annoyance.
"What came up?" Grandpa Elm asked instead, totally displeased that Kingsley wouldn’t be attending the event.
Kingsley fell quiet that instant. His mood soured remembering Jasmine’s condition at the hospital. Doctor Williams said the surgery was successful but she woke up amidst surgery which was a bad thing. For the brief moment, she felt real pain and eventually ended up in a coma. Kingsley was more than furious and that made him leave the hospital that instant knowing that if he lingered, he might cause a scene by beating up the ’incompetent’ doctors.
Noting the silence, Grandpa Elm thought Kingsley was only making up excuses so as not to attend. "Nothing came up, you don’t want to attend."
Kingsley hummed, not wanting to explain himself to anyone, not even his grandfather. "Right. I don’t want to attend."
Silence reigned on the other side, his grandfather didn’t say a word making Kingsley frown. "Are you there?" He asked. Then, he realized that his words might have sounded condescending and harsh. He sighed while massaging his forehead. "Hey, Grandpa look..." Before he could explain himself, his grandfather ended the call.
"Shit." Kingsley cussed in a low tone as he dropped the phone from his ear. He rubbed his chin as he spun around to face the bed. "Nice." He said sarcastically. He pissed off his grandfather and he was well aware of how mean that old man could get when pissed.
He ran his hand through his hair before dropping the phone on the bed. He slowly took off his shirt and dumped it on the floor. He off his remaining clothes and walked naked into his bathroom.
Standing under the shower, the cold water washed down from his head to his broad chest and back. The cold caused goosebumps to form all over his skin.
The cold bath soon came to an end and he stepped out of the bathroom and he wore his pajamas. Kingsley grabbed his phone and exited the room, heading straight to Jasmine’s bedroom where he found it more comfortable to sleep in.
He gently cracked the door open, and her feminine scent flooded into his nostrils, reminding him of her. His eyes lingered around as he entered the room.
He turned on the light and his shoulder slumped a little. His eyes landed on the bed they both shared and the pillows she always planted between them to create a barrier—something she always crushed later on and clung to him.
A low chuckle escaped Kingsley’s lips as he walked towards the bed and sat on the edge of the bed. He slowly took the pillows that were arranged in between and placed them on the top.
Kingsley lay on the bed, his eyes locked on the ceilings while his hands were folded under his head to support his weight.
He remained like that for a while, lost in deep thoughts. With Jasmine’s scent wrapped around him, he soon fell asleep on her bed, soaking in her scent.

The following day, Kingsley woke up in a terrible mood with a frown on his face.
He had that same nightmare but this time, it was clearer...he saw blood everywhere and it was really a gory sight.
For some reason, he couldn’t find himself in the scene like always. This time, it was just his parents there—he was nowhere to be found in the scene. Which was different from the other dreams where he found himself holding onto a gun and dagger that was stained with blood. Not his blood.
Kingsley grumbled as he got off the bed and left Jasmine’s room to prepare for the day. He will keep Jasmine company at the hospital today while working on some files.
He went into his room and washed his mouth and face. After which, he climbed downstairs and spotted Mrs Jenkins coming out of the kitchen with a jar of freshly squeezed orange.
"Good morning, Mr Elm." Mrs Jenkins said.
"Good morning, Mrs Jenkins," Kingsley replied as he came near her and instructed. "Please, pack some healthy food that lacks fat in a flask for Jasmine."
Mrs Jenkins’s eyes lit up as she questioned. "She’s up??" Her eyes sparkled in excitement.
"I wish that was the case but no, she isn’t..." his eyes fell on the varieties of fruits on the table and he said. "Just in case she wakes up, I don’t want her to starve." Pointing at the apples using his chin, he added. "Pack the apples too. She loves fruits."
