Chapter 45: Chapter 45 Blackmail

Kingsley’s phone rang, breaking the ice and he connected the call. "Hello."

Mrs. Jenkins’s voice came from the other end, a hint of excitement In her tone as she stated. "Good morning, Boss Elm. I just called to inform you that my husband’s health has been stable and he is recovering very fine."

An unfamiliar Genuine smile spread across his face, making Jasmine pause in her chewing, her eyes locked on his face. Aside from those forced grins, cocky smirks, this was the real genuine smile that came naturally.

"That’s good news. Does he need anything?? I can ask Elliot to bring it over." Kingsley suggested.

Mrs Jenkins bubbled. "No, we are all good here, Sir. You have been supportive throughout the whole process."

Jasmine was able to pick out some of the things Mrs Jenkins was saying and it made a sweet feeling spread across her chest.

She couldn’t help but think how Kingsley values Mrs Jenkins and her family. He was nice to people—maybe not everyone but the people around him. This person was nothing compared to the devil the public paints him to be.

With that smile on his face, his soft tone as he addressed Mrs. Jenkins, all of the actions that he had made since she got married to him—everything screams out ’Nicety’.

After the call ended, Kingsley dropped the phone and that smile was gone. As if it was never there. His face became blank as he grabbed his fork and told her. "Mrs Jenkins might be returning earlier than I thought."

Jasmine couldn’t make out his words because her eyes were glued on his hair, those perfectly dark hair...the impulse to run her fingers through his hair was great.

’How many women have run their hands through it?’

Even the thought of that made an ugliness spread on her belly, something she wouldn’t want to call ’Jealousy’.

"Jasmine..." Kingsley snapped her out of her staring-mindlessly-and-shamelessly act. Jasmine blinked multiple times at him.

Kingsley’s upper lips shook before a smirk formed there. "Gawking and lost in my beauty." He didn’t ask, he stated. Like, that was a fact.

Jasmine snorted before grabbing her fork too. "I wasn’t gawking, was staring at the art painting behind you." She lied swiftly.

Kingsley scoffed. "Right, you were gawking at the painting that was removed two days ago." A sarcastic edge was on his voice.

Jasmine gasped before raising her head to check if that was true. Truly, the painting was gone.

Since when??

She has no idea. Jasmine had liked the painting the moment she came into the house, Mrs Jenkins told her the painting was the last one Mrs Elm made before the unfortunate incident years ago.

Jasmine’s voice turned low and sorrowful. "That was your mother’s painting."

Kingsley’s hand paused, his brows joined before it released. "It wasn’t serving any purpose so I kept it in the old house." He said shortly before continuing to eat.

Jasmine held her tongue after that, she didn’t ask or say anything more.

After breakfast, Jasmine excused herself but Kingsley asked from behind."Doctor’s appointment?"

"Yeah." She reported back before exiting the living room and heading to the garage, it was another day to choose from rolls of fancy and luxurious cars to drive in.

Jasmine settled for a Bentley and headed straight to Doctor Williams’s office for her appointment.

After Jasmine left, Kingsley went into his room to get dressed for work. He wore blank pants and a black sleeve,he damped a black coat on his shoulder.

He spotted the three clips Jasmine bought for him amongst the bunch of clips he had. He smiled gently before taking the black clip and using it.

The designs Jasmine chose just suited his taste and it placed him in a rather good mood even though what he was set out for today wasn’t going to be a nice one.

Kingsley stepped out of his room, heading towards the living room where he expected to see Raymond waiting.

Raymond greeted him. "Good morning, Boss Elm." He was in all black too but he wasn’t wearing any clip.

Kingsley smiled smugly as he came near Raymond and asked. "All set?"

Raymond nodded to confirm his guess. The smile didn’t leave Kingsley’s face as he walked past Raymond who immediately followed behind him.

They all went outside and got into the black car waiting which Elliot parked in front of the entrance.

Kingsley got into the backseat as usual and Raymond sat on the front with Elliot. Just like that, they drove off.

A few minutes later, Kingsley was in a staring contest with an older man who adjusts uncomfortably on his chair.

They were in an office space of Mr Boaz, they were sitting on the two long cushions opposite each other in the middle of the room.

Raymond was standing close to Kingsley who was sitting on the couch, same with Mr Boaz’s female assistant who stood close to the chair Mr Boaz was also sitting on.

Kingsley’s gaze on Mr Boaz was deep as he stared at the older man who cleared his throat.

"Mr Elm, I thought I made it clear to your assistant that I am not willing to sell my shares in the Raven’s group. You didn’t have to come here because nothing you say will make me change my mind." His words contained finality. He didn’t yield to Kingsley’s demands.

Kingsley raised a brow before leaning back on the chair, his right leg was crossed on the left, and his hands were on both sides of his body as he said with an air of dominance. "And who said I came to persuade you?"

Mr Boaz frowned. "Then, what are you here for?" His eyes travelled from Kingsley to Raymond who was staring daggers at him in apprehension.

Kingsley forced out a cocky smile."I came to make sure you sign the agreement." He said calmly.

Mr Boaz’s face turns grim. "What are you up to?" His eyes almost melted into Kingsley’s body. Who doesn’t know how ruthless Kingsley was and how he always got what he wanted in shrewd ways?

Kingsley’s smile didn’t falter. "Nothing much. Just sign the papers."

"And why do you think I would want to sign that??.." his eyes darted between Raymond and Kingsley as he argued. "I can’t do much about that."

"Oh yeah, you can," Kingsley confirmed.

Mr Boaz hissed. "RVM Groups is not fully under my control and you know it—"

Kingsley rolled his eyes indigenously. "Oh right. It belongs to your Wife since her family is wealthy and you’re just a son-in-law leeching off from her."

Mr Boaz’s face turned red in embarrassment. "What-what do you mean??" He stammered, his face turning even redder. "My wife entrusted the company to me to handle on her behalf and I have been doing pretty well."

Hearing his statement, a small throaty scoff escaped Kingsley’s lips, his eyes moved from Mr. Boaz to his female assistant standing near him, and he gestured with his eyes with that small knowing smile on his face. "Yeah, sure. You have been doing pretty well..." his eyes lingered on the body of the female assistant for a while before turning his eyes to Mr Boaz again.

The female assistant adjusted, lowering her head a little while gripping her tablet tightly.

Mr Boaz turned pale, still, he didn’t want to give himself away completely. "What are you saying?" He played dumb.

Kingsley shrugged. "I’m saying, you should sign the contract and hand over your shares in the Raven’s group to me so your dirty little affairs can be safe with me."

Mr Boaz screeched. "This is blackmail."

Kingsley smirked. "Doesn’t make you special."

Mr Boaz raised his head to look at his assistant who was cowering and almost wanted to melt on the wall. He shook his head and turned to face Kingsley again.

"You-you—you have nothing on me!" He barked, making Kingsley snarl.

"Watch your tone so I don’t rip your tongue out." His eyes darkened, and annoyance was evident on his face.

Raymond came forward and dropped a file on the table, the way he threw it made the photos scatter all over the table and Mr Boaz’s and his assistant’s faces turned as pale as sheets.

The photos contained their private pictures, even the pictures when they went to the cinema together and kissed. When they went on a road trip,in a hotel room fucking, etc...

How????

Kingsley enjoyed the shocked and ghastly expression on their faces. "How??" He asked the greatest question on Mr Boaz’s mind. He answered his question. "I can get my hands on anything."

Mr Boaz’s eyes sank, his throat falling into the pit of his stomach and he shrieked in fear, his lips trembling. "You can’t show this to my wife, please!" His voice shook, and his eyes held raw fear.

"Sure, I want to save myself too of that stress." Kingsley lazily uttered before dropping his right leg on the floor. He leaned closer and whispered. "You know what to do." His eyes dropped on the file on the table and the pen on top. "Sign it."
