Chapter 27: Chapter 27 I Am Married

Kingsley turned to look at Jasmine who also turned to look at him. They both exchanged a glance and Together, they turned to face Grandpa Elm in bewilderment.

"Grandpa, what are you doing here?" Kingsley asked, surprised to see the man.

Grandpa Elm took a few steps away from the door as he came nearer. His eyes were on Jasmine all through as he questioned. "Isn’t she.." he dimmed his eyes a little before completing his words. "Isn’t she the daughter of Moore Trevor?"

Jasmine readily said with a small smile on her face. "Hello, Grandpa Elm. You’re right, Mr Trevor is my father." She nodded a little stiffly, the incident from earlier still weighing on her.

Grandpa Elm nodded and was about to speak up again when Kingsley cut his words off.

"Grandpa, let’s go in first. Jasmine is exhausted." Kingsley placed a hand on Jasmine’s back making her raise her head to stare at his side profile.

Grandpa Elm smirked, letting it go. "How thoughtful of you." He said before throwing Jasmine another glance. He turns around to leave while telling them.

"For your information, I brought in some topnotch Chefs to come cook for everyone. Quickly go take your showers and come down to eat."

Kingsley rolled his eyes as he led Jasmine along and they all entered the living room.

Just like his grandpa had said, there were several Chefs in the living room while others were in the dining area.

It was suddenly bustling in his house and Kingsley didn’t like how people were moving about.

"Welcome home, Mr and Mrs Elm." The Chefs in the living room and dining area greeted them simultaneously.

Before Kingsley could complain that four Chefs were too much, three more came out of the kitchen with bowls in their hands as they greeted him and Jasmine too.

"Welcome back, Mr and Mrs Elm." The three Chefs echoed and Jasmine forced out a big smile at them. They all looked uniform and clean in their all-white outfits.

Kingsley’s displeasure wasn’t hidden as they were spelled on his face. His brows knitted as he let go of Jasmine’s waist and she took that as a cue to quickly scurry away.

Before leaving, she flashed Grandpa Elm a smile. "I’ll be right back, Grandpa Elm."

Grandpa Elm was happy as he said to her. "Just call me grandpa, I prefer that because you are my daughter now."

The word "daughter" from him made Kingsley grimace at how shameless his grandfather was being.

’Isn’t that too soon?’ Kingsley grumbled within himself as he stood closer to the couch his grandfather was sitting on in the living room.

Jasmine nodded with a broad smile. "Okay, Grandpa. I just need to take a shower, I’ll be back soon to accompany you."

"I’ll be waiting then." The old man approved and Jasmine quickly climbed the stairs as she headed towards her room.

The incident in the restaurant temporarily faded out of her mind as the only thing in her head was Grandpa Elm and how to win his favor. Even though she was in a contract marriage with Kingsley, winning Grandpa elm to her side would prove fruitful shortly if she played her cards well.

Grandpa Elm will be a big connection, especially in her quest to be successful while climbing her way to Fame with Kingsley’s connections.

Jasmine was also genuinely interested in Grandpa Elm because of how thoughtful and soft-spoken he was.

Downstairs, Kingsley took a seat close to Grandpa Elm in the living room, he started to complain. "What’s with the battalion of Chefs you came with?? Isn’t two enough? You had to bring seven of them!!" His face was tight in anger.

Grandpa Elm lazily rested his back on the couch as he snorted back at Kingsley. "I promised to make a feast when I’m finally introduced to the lady you want. Having two Chefs over isn’t enough, take a look at the table filled with varieties of food, Do you think two Chefs will be able to get that done on short notice?"

Kingsley raised his eyes to glare at the bunch of chefs arranging many more bowls of food on the table. Truly, there was too much to eat and drink.

Still, Kingsley didn’t buy the idea of having seven chefs all in his house. "I do not fancy this and you know it. Also, next time, inform me before you bang into my house."

"I’ve never informed you before I came to your house, what’s changed?" Grandpa Elm eyed Kingsley warily.

Kingsley hissed. "Things have changed because I now have a wife."

His statement made the old man frown deeply as he glared at Kingsley. "What do mean by ’you now have a wife??’ Since when did you become somebody’s husband?" He asked skeptically, his eyes searching for answers.

Kingsley adjusted in his seat before placing one leg on the other and he uttered adamantly. "Well, I got married to Jasmine a few days ago. I didn’t get the chance to tell you about it and you..." he looked at his grandpa for a short while before averting his gaze again to look ahead. "And you don’t even listen or watch the news else you would have known."

Grandpa Elm’s loud voice admonished Kingsley in a rage."You piece of shit. Kingsley Elm, you could have told me over a phone call even though you don’t want to invite me to the wedding! I read daily newspapers, how come the news of your wedding wasn’t part of the ones my butler bought for me??" With a flaring nostril and piercing eyes, Grandpa Elm complained bitterly.

Kingsley sighed. "Honestly, it happened so fast that I couldn’t inform you."

Grandpa Elm narrowed his eyes at Kingsley. "Still..." he trailed off before shaking his hand in annoyance. "This is so unbelievable." He shook.

Kingsley didn’t bother to explain further as he just looked everywhere else except his angry grandfather.

After a while of trying to suppress his anger, Grandpa Elm’s voice reduced as he asked mindfully. "Does she know?" He asked in a low voice, catching Kingsley’s attention.

Kingsley turned to look at his grandfather with a lazy look on his face. "Know what? About the news of how I murdered people?" His left brow was lazily hung up.

Grandpa Elm hummed in response and added. "And also, is she aware that you depend on drugs?"

Kingsley shrugged. "She isn’t a novice, she agreed to marry me despite the flying news of how I’m a monster." His statement made him rethink his decision to agree to marry Jasmine.

’What is truly her motive of choosing me??’ He marveled in his head.

Grandpa Elm leaned forward as he asked Kingsley. "Then, what did her parents say about your union with their daughter?"

Kingsley shrugged nonchalantly as usual. "Well, they kicked against it and want her to get a divorce."

The old man hummed in understanding while nodding his head. He relaxed his back on the couch again. "Mhm, it’s understandable for parents to want what’s best for their children, especially daughters." His seemingly short and harmless statement earned him a cold glare from Kingsley.
