Chapter 26: Chapter 26 It All Came Rushing Back

"Oh well, look what I found." Jack grinned as he licked the side of his lips, his eyes glittering with mischief.

Jasmine took a staggering step back, the confine of the bathroom made goosebumps crawl up her skin as she pressed her back against the wash-hand basin.

"Don’t-don’t come near, Jack. I’m warning you." She pointed at him with shaking fingers, her face growing red as fright gripped her.

Jack kept grinning as he took slow but deliberate steps towards her, he was wearing his usual hoodie and black pants.

Jasmine felt perspiration dripping from her face, confused about whether to scream or not.

"Gotcha." Jack snapped like a maniac all of a sudden, catching Jasmine off guard as he launched at her.

Jasmine quickly shielded her face with both hands as she sobbed, her usual cool and savage demeanor falling off. She still wasn’t over it...

She wasn’t over this torment he caused her.

Jack grabbed her arm, shaking her terribly as he cursed her in a low but threatening tone. "You bipolar bitch, you thought you could just ruin my life after getting your hands on Kingsley’s money, huh??" His veins popped up as he kept shouting at Jasmine.

Jasmine couldn’t even pick the majority of his words, her eyes kept darting around the ground, her face completely pale as he shook her violently. Her vision grew blurry and the memories of that day couldn’t stop rushing into her head.

"Please let me live!" Her sobbing voice on the rooftop replayed in her head. Jasmine’s lips started to tremble, and the rest of Jack’s words went into a deep void in her head, she couldn’t register his words.

Too traumatized to even react on time until Jack pushed her, jolting her out of her thoughts but before she could react, she found herself landing like a bag of potatoes on the ground.

Pain shot through her bones, her head spinning but Jack was still standing tall, glaring daggers at her as he mocked.

"Not so tough, huh?" He gushed as he lowered to grab Jasmine by the collar.

"Please...." How pathetic she had to repeat these same words. Just like the day on the rooftop where she had begged using that word, she hated that she was using that word for him again.

Tears kept streaming down her face, Jack grabbed her collar tightly, about to raise her numb body off the floor.

"You...." A deep growl from an intruder came followed by the loud bang of the restroom door that was flung open.

Jack quickly reacted as he turned to look at who came in while also letting go of Jasmine’s collar.

"What the..."Before Jack could complete his statement, a powerful fist landed on his jaw throwing his head sideway.

Kingsley’s eyes grew even more redder as he jerked Jack’s collar before landing another heavy punch on his face.

Jack held Kingsley’s arm to push him off him but Kingsley wasn’t even giving him a leeway as he threw Jack against the wall.

Jasmine held onto her head, her chest rising and falling as she stared at the scene unfolding before her.

Jack coughed out a mouthful of blood as kingsley dragged him off the floor again before pushing him down, making Jack hit his head on the floor.

Anger was coursing through Kingsley’s veins. He had suspected something was off when Jasmine didn’t return after a while.

Seeing how Jack Manhandled his wife,it made him tremble in rage as he held Jack’s hoodie’s collar, his fist tightened in a tight ball as he leaned closer to Jack.

Kingsley growled. "Nobody..." he landed a heavy punch on Jack’s face. "...Touches..." he landed another punch and Jack gasped out, his eyes growing swollen.

Tightening his grip on Jack’s collar, he landed the last punch with a grunt. "....My Wife!" He completed his statement.

"Urgh" a throaty-painful whimper escaped Jack’s face, his face was covered with his blood and bruises.

Kingsley let go of his collar and Jack fell heavy on the ground while panting real hard and fast.

Kingsley shook a little when he saw the mess he had made, his eyes shrieked when he saw the sight of blood.

He staggered backward, his eyes darting around restlessly until they found her...

He saw Jasmine curled on the ground staring back at him with teary eyes.

Kingsley could feel his throat running dry. His only thoughts were ’Does she see me as a monster now?’

He doesn’t even know why he cared about that but he couldn’t help but think that she probably did.

With the way, she was looking at him with wet eyes, pain evident on her face...

Kingsley threw a cold look at the several female and male staff outside the door who witnessed the scene. They quickly scurried away to hide.

He just needed to leave there that moment, he hurried over to Jasmine’s spot and crouched down next to her.

"Let’s go home." He said ever so softly to her and Jasmine’s instinctively responded as if under a sort of spell.

Her hands freely went around his neck as he lifted her off the floor before scooping her into his arm.

Jasmine tightened her grip on Kingsley’s suit, her head was deeply buried in his chest as he carried her out through the back door of the restaurant.

Jasmine couldn’t help the tears that were pouring out of her eyes nonstop, her body trembling. She couldn’t get over the encounter with Jack.

It was slowly getting dark outside and the sun was bright orange.

Inside the restroom, Jack’s assistant quickly rushed in as she damped a coat over Jack but the staff were adamant about letting the issue slide. They started to take pictures of Jack’s condition as his assistant dragged him out of there.

Meanwhile, Kingsley opened the front seat door with a little difficulty before placing Jasmine on the seat.

He tried to lean back but Jasmine’s arms were still wrapped around his neck, which made it impossible for him to pull away.

Kingsley stared down to look at her clear eyes that were still wet with tears, her beautiful long lashes were glued due to the presence of moisture.

"Wife, You can let go. You’re safe now." With a calm face and softened voice, kingsley persuaded her before Jasmine stiffly let go of him.

Kingsley sighed before fixing her seatbelt and then, he leaned away from Jasmine, his chin was tight as he stared down at Jasmine who remained stiff in the car.

He cursed in his head. ’Fuck Jack. He better watch out.’ He made a mental note to give Jack a better beating the next time he saw him.

Kingsley angrily shut the door and walked over to the driver’s seat.

He threw one last glance at Jasmine who was just staring ahead, lost in thoughts, her hands were wrapped around her as if to protect herself from someone.

Kingsley sighed and then, ignited the car engine. He slowly drove out of the restaurant area, already concluding that he would call his grandpa to cancel dinner with him.

He was in for another round of nagging from his grandpa.

The ride was silent all through as nobody said a word to each other. Just like that, Kingsley drove into his compound and parked the car in front of his mansion’s entrance.

He turned off the car engine and came down, he hurried over to Jasmine’s side and opened the door for her.

Jasmine wrapped her hand around her chest as she came out of the car on her own, her face starting to gain a little color.

Kingsley shut the door and they both made their way towards the house but the door was pushed open from the inside, revealing Grandpa Elm.

Kingsley and Jasmine immediately paused on the entrance stairs when they saw the ’uninvited guest’ who shamelessly welcomed them home.

With a grin on his face, Grandpa Elm said. "Welcome home you two, dinner is served."
