Chapter 25 Stuck In The Bathroom
Chapter 25: Chapter 25 Stuck In The Bathroom
Jasmine was tongue-tied for the next few hours, shocked by that statement that came from Lorraine.
She couldn’t believe her father would go to such an extent to want her to leave Kingsley.
Lorraine whispered. "Hey, are you there?" He asked, already regretting why he had told her that.
Jasmine opened her lips to answer but closed it back, too shocked to respond.
When she opened her mouth to speak again, her ears caught the sound of Kingsley’s office door opening.
She quickly looked sideway and soon Kingsley came out of the office, looking tall and imposing. This time around, he was staring directly at her.
Jasmine couldn’t react anymore as he matched towards her cubicle, she subconsciously took the phone away from her ears and dropped the phone on the table, leaving Lorraine.
Kingsley stood close to the door of her cubicle and his eyes darted between her and the phone on the table before he hastened her. "Hey, let’s go have lunch a few blocks away from the office." He invited. For some reasons unknown to Jasmine, his voice was soft while his eyes were still lingering on her phone.
Jasmine cleared her throat before she nodded. "Sure." She said a little too much with effort.
Kingsley entered her office instead and directly went to her desk, stopping her from getting up from her chair.
Jasmine’s upper buttons were undone, exposing her cleavage and neck, Kingsley’s eyes feasted on them before he looked directly at Jasmine’s eyes.
To Jasmine, Kingsley must have undergone some classes on how to keep eye contact, he does that a lot and too intensely.
The corner of Jasmine’s lips quirked up a little bit. Kingsley’s eyes gleamed as he caressed her cheek and told her softly. "Can you make me that black coffee again when we get home?" The corner of his eyes crinkled as he asked.
Jasmine blinked for a while, and soon after a smile spread across her face, making Kingsley detach himself from her as he took a few steps back.
"Of course." She gave him a lopsided grin.
Kingsley chuckled a little bit before looking down at his feet, hiding his excitement. Because of a mere tea??
He raised his head again, his smile was successfully hidden but that didn’t stop his mouth from curving into a small smile. "That’s settled then. Shall we?" He gestured towards the door and Jasmine nodded while bubbling in all smiles.
"Okay." She energetically stood up from her chair and grabbed her phone before following Kingsley out of the cubicle.
They head straight out of the top floor, they could feel the employees’ eyes on them but respectful enough—Jasmine couldn’t hear any side talks, unlike her father’s company where there was always a set of girls who must talk.
The employees in Kingsley’s company only look but can’t say a word when Kingsley is around. Maybe they can do that after they leave but not when Kingsley was still on that floor.
They got into the elevator and Kingsley stood far behind, his expression dulled as he stood motionless there.
Jasmine stood close to him in silence, her heart drumming in their cage as she waited for the elevator to reach the grand floor. It was stuffy being in the same elevator with Kingsley who was too stiff.
Her prayers were finally answered when the elevator made a ding sound, indicating that they had reached their location.
Jasmine was the first to hop out of the elevator before Kingsley walked out with a straight back, something he was used to doing.
His hands were on both sides of his body as he walked in long strides out of the grand floor, heading towards the garage.
He got into the car and Jasmine also jumped in from the other side. Kingsley was going to drive and Jasmine was surprised to see that.
"What about Elliot?" Jasmine asked while buckling her seatbelt.
Kingsley ignited the car engine while telling her calmly. "I asked him to go with Raymond." He responded before driving out of the garage.
Just like he had said, the restaurant was a few blocks away from the company. It was a six-star restaurant with an adjacent hotel close by. Kingsley parked his car in the parking lot before coming out of the car.
Jasmine did the same and they both walked right into the restaurant that was filled with just a few people here and there.
The cold air and air freshener in the restaurant were soothing and the soft music playing in the background just added to the allure of this place.
Jasmine had dined here with Jack just once. This was the place they went to on their first date and Jasmine was the one who paid the bills because, according to Jack, his debit card was faulty when it was time to pay.
In her previous life, she just smiled and paid with contentment in her heart, settling for the fact that he showed up for the date and that was enough for her.
Coming here again in this life, this time around, with Kingsley,it all feels different.
Kingsley and Jasmine sat on the far end close to a window that was far from where the sun stood. Plants majorly covered that part of the window and it was Kingsley’s favorite spot.
Kingsley sat there with his arms folded around his chest while Jasmine looked through the menu. She asked him what he wanted from time to time and they soon settled for some dishes.
They were served their meals and Jasmine dug in, her charisma was in check as she ate like the heiress she was. Filled with etiquette and manner, Jasmine ate slowly while chewing her food.
Kingsley ate a few bites but drank more of the wine served.
In their course of eating, Jasmine’s fingers slipped and the spoon fell on her lap, staining her dress in the process. "Oops, I’ll be right back, need to clean this up," Jasmine said to Kingsley who grabbed a tissue and handed it to her.
She took it and tried to clean the dress but it didn’t help much so she stood up, ready to leave.
"Do you want me to come with you?" He asked while drinking from his wine but Jasmine smiled while waving his words off.
"It’s okay, I’ll be done in a jiffy." She said before going to ask the staff where the restroom was located. She was directed there.
On getting to the restroom, Jasmine dumped the tissue in the trash bag, opened the water faucet, and started to wipe her black skirt.
Jasmine did that for a while before the skirt was clean again, and looking spotless. She quickly washed her hands, wiped them with a towel available there, and made to leave.
She turned around only to be faced with someone she had least expected. Jasmine’s jaw went slack as her fear crossed her face when she saw the man dressed in all black staring at her with killing intent.
His eyes gleamed with mischief and maniac. Jasmine could feel a sudden pile crawling up to her throat as she went deadly pale as if the world had caught up with her.
