Chapter 633: Sister, don’t blame Mother, okay?

Chapter 633: Chapter 633: Sister, don’t blame Mother, okay?

Brandon Piers stepped forward and grabbed Abigail Green tightly, frowning as he looked at the irritable woman on the hospital bed.

Daniel walked up and held his mother’s hand, "Mother, don’t get worked up, let’s talk this out calmly."

"Make her leave!" Clara Smith turned her head away, not even glancing at Abigail.

Brandon felt displeased as the woman he treated like a precious jewel was being treated with such disdain. "Let’s go."

Abigail glanced at the person on the hospital bed, sighed lightly, and followed Brandon out.

Daniel got anxious, "Sis, don’t be mad, listen to me..."

"Stop right there, you’re not allowed to follow them!" Clara immediately yelled as she saw her son about to follow.

Daniel looked helplessly at his mother, "Why do you have to hurt sister’s feelings?"

Clara buried half of her face in the pillow, stubbornly saying nothing.

"Mother..." Daniel called softly.

"I’m a bit tired and want to rest." After a while, Clara finally spoke.

"Alright, you rest. I’ll stay here with you." Daniel didn’t know how to persuade his mother and could only watch over her quietly.

Outside the hospital room, Brandon held Abigail. "Are you alright?"

"I’m fine, what could happen to me?" Abigail looked at the man’s worried expression and chuckled.

Brandon didn’t take her lightly, holding her even tighter. "She treated you like that, aren’t you hurt?"

"I’m alright; I know where her problem lies." Abigail replied with certainty.

"Hmm?" Brandon raised an eyebrow, finding his little chubby girl remarkably calm.

"Grandpa, her problem lies with Grandpa." Abigail didn’t beat around the bush and answered confidently.

"Grandpa?" Brandon was slightly surprised. He thought Clara’s problem was related to her deceased boyfriend. He had investigated Clara’s deceased boyfriend, who was Abigail’s biological father, a somewhat famous rock singer from twenty years ago.

Life sure was a circle; this person wasn’t just familiar to him, they shared a lot of history.

Hayden Bell, the youngest son of the Bells.

A person the Bell family had removed from their genealogy.

His uncle whom he had never met.

Fortunately, Abigail was now Abigail Green, otherwise, they’d be cousins.

There wasn’t anything good about the Bell family. Seeing that Abigail didn’t seem interested in knowing about her father, he hoped she never would want to know.

"Yes, through these past couple of days of interaction, I found that although she feels guilty towards me, she doesn’t emotionally reject me. But when it comes to Grandpa, she becomes particularly agitated and restless." Abigail analyzed.

"Perhaps she doesn’t want Grandpa to see her in her current state." Brandon thought about the obstacles they faced initially during their investigation, which indicated that Clara didn’t want to see Grandpa Smith.

To be exact, she didn’t dare to.

Abigail nodded, "She was so proud and stubborn. After arguing with Grandpa and leaving home, she didn’t return for five years. When she sent me back, she probably did so with the thought of dying. But she didn’t die and ended up losing both of her legs, making her even more reluctant to face Grandpa."

Thinking about Grandpa’s temper, Abigail believed Clara probably didn’t receive a warm welcome when she brought her back to the Smith family.

"If she’s unwilling to meet, she must meet." Brandon suggested after listening.

Abigail nodded, "I think so too. If she doesn’t resolve the issue with Grandpa, she’ll live in the past for the rest of her life."

"Should I arrange for Grandpa Smith to come?" Brandon looked at Abigail to inquire.

"Let’s discuss it with Daniel first." Abigail felt they should respect Daniel’s opinion. If he didn’t agree, even if Grandpa came, they might not be able to see Clara.

"What do you need to discuss with me?" Just as Abigail finished speaking, Daniel opened the door and came out.

Abigail instinctively looked towards the hospital room.

Daniel explained softly, "She just fell asleep."

"Oh." Abigail briefly explained the situation.

After listening, Daniel somewhat guessed what Abigail was thinking. "We can give it a try. Actually, Mother has always missed Grandpa and you. She has been paying attention to your every move over the years, but because she couldn’t overcome her own barriers, she never took that step. You should have noticed how stubborn she is."

"Then it’s settled. I’ll make the arrangements." Brandon didn’t care about Clara’s feelings but only about his little woman.

If it made Abigail happy, he was willing to do anything.

"Alright." Abigail nodded.

The matter of bringing Grandpa Smith over was decided just like that.

But Daniel had other concerns. He looked at Abigail, "Sis, can you really perform the surgery on Mom?"

The natural tone stunned Abigail.

"Don’t call me sis; your mom doesn’t even recognize me." Daniel’s "sis" made Abigail shudder, and she rejected it with disdain.

"It’s alright, I recognize you as my sister, right, brother-in-law?" Daniel said flatteringly, looking at Brandon with a face as attractive as Brandon’s.

Brandon liked being called brother-in-law, but how could he recognize this brother that Abigail didn’t accept? He looked coldly at Daniel, "Don’t randomly claim kinship."

Daniel, "..."

"Alright then, about the surgery?" Daniel wasn’t bothered by the rejection and looked at Abigail like a hopeful puppy.

"What has the doctor here planned?" When it came to the surgery, Abigail’s expression turned serious.

"The surgery is scheduled for next week. But Mom’s physical condition is poor, and the doctor advised us to be mentally prepared." Daniel took a deep breath as he had already understood the high risks involved in the surgery.

Abigail fell silent, "I’m ninety percent confident about her surgery, provided she cooperates."

"Ninety percent?" Daniel’s eyes brightened, becoming more convinced that the person in front of him was Abigail.

"Yes, if she cooperates, the success rate will be higher." Abigail wasn’t boasting. Clara’s situation was somewhat similar to Lincoln Green’s, except Lincoln’s heart failure was caused by medication, while Clara’s was due to physical issues.

Plus, the long-term use of antidepressants had severely burdened her heart.

"I’ll find a way to persuade Mom." With Abigail’s assurance, Daniel spoke firmly.

Abigail nodded, "That’s the only way." After a pause, she asked, "How about her leg?"

"The left leg was shattered, so it was amputated and fitted with a prosthesis. She thinks it looks ugly and seldom wears it." Daniel explained.

Abigail took a deep breath, feeling a bit sad.

But Daniel comforted her, "She jumped down from the seventeenth floor, and because there were obstructions in between, she miraculously survived, though she lost a leg. It’s already very lucky."

"I know. Take good care of her." Abigail felt a bit heavy-hearted.

Seeing this, Brandon reached out and held Abigail’s hand tightly, "Let’s go home first."

"Alright." Abigail nodded, then looked at Daniel, "Send me her medical history and records. I need to review them."

"Okay." Daniel responded, but Abigail had already lost the desire to continue the conversation and started walking out. Just then, Daniel suddenly turned serious, "Sis, please don’t blame Mother."
