Chapter 632: I Don’t Need Your Forgiveness

Chapter 632: Chapter 632: I Don’t Need Your Forgiveness

Abigail was at a loss for words when Daniel called her sister.

"Is she awake?" Abigail ignored Daniel’s words and asked directly.

"Yeah, she’s been waiting for you since she woke up." Daniel had been observing Abigail’s reaction the whole time.

Abigail nodded and turned to look at Brandon Piers, "Wait for me outside, okay?"

Brandon was a bit unwilling, but he still hummed in agreement.

Then Abigail looked at Daniel.

Daniel, seeing this, said, "I’ll wait outside with my brother-in-law."

When Abigail heard Daniel calling her sister, she was already a bit uncomfortable. Suddenly hearing "brother-in-law," she incredulously turned her head to look at Daniel. What was he thinking? How did he call them sister and brother-in-law so naturally?

But Brandon glanced at the other man sideways; he didn’t have much of a feeling toward Daniel, but he was quite satisfied with the term "brother-in-law."

Abigail happened to catch Brandon’s expression. She silently gave the two of them an eye-roll, then pushed open the door to the hospital room.

Clara Smith was different from her semi-hypnotic state of yesterday. She was very alert today. When she saw Abigail, her gaze was dazed. She appeared even more frail than yesterday.

This frailty made her seem even more fragile.

Abigail, looking at Clara in this state, didn’t know what to say for a moment.

Yesterday, after recognizing Clara Smith and being shocked, she quickly calmed down. Although she couldn’t control her emotions when speaking to her, she was more considerate of the other’s physical and mental state.

That’s why, in the end, she threw out the offer, letting Clara Smith choose whether or not to acknowledge her.

But Abigail wasn’t too confident herself. Perhaps because of her reincarnation, her five senses were sharper than others, and she could clearly feel the vitality in patients.

Yesterday, she noticed that Clara Smith’s vitality was very weak.

Not only because her body was in bad shape, but another important reason was her intensely weakened will to live.

"Are you okay?" Seeing Clara just staring at her, Abigail sighed softly to break the silence.

"Yeah." Clara mumbled in reply.

The room fell silent again.

The awkwardness left Abigail a bit helpless, so she went straight to the point. "Have you made your decision?"

"Yeah." Clara responded softly once more.

"And your answer is?" Abigail took a deep breath.

The expression on Clara Smith’s face finally changed. Her eyes, tempered by years, still carried the stubbornness of a young girl. Even though fine wrinkles had formed on her face, she didn’t look much older. She opened her mouth but didn’t make a sound, clenching her fist. "I don’t need your forgiveness. Since you’re living well now, just live a good life."

Ha!

Although Abigail was anxious about Clara’s answer, she was actually somewhat confident, thinking the other would accept her offer. She never expected to hear such a firm response, and she laughed out of anger.

What do you mean, I don’t need your forgiveness? Since you’re living well now, just live a good life!

Originally, upon hearing Clara’s experiences, Abigail felt somewhat sorry for her. But now, that feeling was easily ignited by Clara’s words.

"So you don’t plan to acknowledge me?" Abigail looked at the woman on the bed with some sarcasm. A few minutes ago, she felt a bit sorry for her; now, she thought she was ridiculous.

How did she forget? This woman was Grandfather Piers’ daughter!

She had known her grandfather’s stubbornness since childhood, and this woman was said to be even more stubborn.

At eighteen, she left home without a second thought. At twenty-three, she abandoned her without looking back and never returned in her life.

Even at this point, she still wanted to maintain her pride.

Clara Smith’s hand under the quilt gripped the bedsheet tightly, trying her best to remain calm. "Yes, you were never my daughter."

When Abigail came, she had already learned about the current Abigail.

Compared to the former Dr. Smith Abigail, she was now healthier, braver, and happier.

Such a beautiful person shouldn’t have a mother like her.

And her father...

They were her shame.

Just as she was her father’s shame.

She shouldn’t appear in their lives; yesterday was a moment of impulse.

Looking at the woman trying hard to suppress her emotions on the hospital bed, Abigail’s mood slowly calmed down. Staring into her eyes, she realized her mother resembled her grandfather more but had fewer similarities with her former self. So, she must have taken after that man who committed suicide more?

After a while, Abigail sighed softly, "You know, I am your daughter. Even if I change my appearance and my identity, I still am."

"No, you’re not!"

"Oh, then you can refuse to acknowledge me. What about Grandfather? Grandfather searched for you all these years. Are you planning not to recognize him? He’s already very old and doesn’t have much time left. Do you want him to pass away with regret?" Abigail looked at the person on the hospital bed, whose emotions were slightly agitated.

"I..." Clara was stunned. She wanted to deny it but found herself unable to speak. It seemed like she hadn’t done right by anyone in her life.

She had failed her father, Hayden Bell, Mr. Richardson, and more so, her daughter...

Her life was a failure!

Abigail keenly observed the emotions of the woman on the hospital bed. She saw her struggling, her pain, her guilt... The fine wrinkles covered her face, and she just noticed that her temples had turned white.

She still remembered the photo she had cherished, the girl in it was healthy and bright.

Unfortunately, mothers in this world would always grow old.

Some lucky ones had husbands who loved them, obedient children, and turned into the most ordinary middle-aged women in the world, dealing with daily trivial matters.

Unlucky ones, like Clara Smith, fell into a love affair in their twenties, losing their lover in their arms, never to stand up again.

Her entire life was burdened by that one death.

Looking at the person on the hospital bed, Abigail suddenly felt some pity. She was only twenty-three when she gave birth to her, younger than she was before. Was she very helpless back then?

But compared to Clara Smith, she was much luckier. After being reborn, she met Brandon Piers, Grandfather Piers, and even got to stay by Teddy’s side.

"Think about it some more. I’ll inform Grandfather. If you really can’t hold on in the end, you should at least see him once." Seeing the woman on the hospital bed unable to speak, Abigail softly reminded her.

"No!" As soon as Abigail finished speaking, Clara Smith cried out like a startled bird.

Abigail was startled and frowned at her mother, "What are you afraid of?"

"I’m not afraid of anything. I just don’t want to see him!" Clara Smith refused without any hesitation and feared Abigail would not listen. "You can’t tell him; I don’t want to see him!" She didn’t want her father to see her like this, never.

"Clara, he is your father. You are about to die. He has the right to see you." Abigail frowned, looking at Clara’s agitated state.

"I won’t see him. Go away, I won’t see anyone!" Abigail’s words completely triggered the person on the bed. She passionately drove Abigail away.

At this moment, Daniel and Brandon Piers rushed in!

"Abigail!"

"Mama..."
