The giant turtle lifted her head slightly, causing the ground to tremble due to the shifting weight. Ash was intrigued by Xuan Gui’s anatomy. Though her body was that of a turtle, her head resembled a bird with an elongated beak. Meanwhile, the tail was covered with snake-like scales, or reptilian in that matter. However, as he got closer, Ash knew that her tail had been cut off for some reason.

He couldn’t tell her full height when she stood on four. However, he’s able to guess that her height would easily loom over a hill.

Her facial expressions didn’t show any sign of illness or physical pain. However, Ash could see the deep sadness that seethed within her. It reflected through her dark green eyes which were devoid of any light. Flat, and remorseless.

By the time their eyes met each other, the Heavenly Beast Taming system chimed, displaying the giant turtle’s detailed status.

Curious, Ash hopped closer, studying the intricate craftsmanship. Much to his surprise, each link of the chain was imbued with a very complicated curse.

"Ying Hui, have you tried anything yet? This chain is draining her life-force little by little."

"I have tried, yet to no avail. The curse on each link is ancient. I’m afraid the manual on how to break the curse has already long gone."

Ash, once again, tried to analyze the chain keenly. At some point, the system could finally appraise the chain.

Suddenly, Xuan Gui opened her beak, speaking in a very old dialect which could only be understood by a beast and animals as she heard the name of the Cursed Artifact. The light in her eyes returned.

"Chain of Four Evil... Thou hath exceptional eyes, Young Phoenix. Now I remember who put this Cursed Artifact on my neck and cut off my tail."

"You do?!" Shangguang jumped around in excitement. "Tell us who did this to you! We will kill them all!"

"Even if I tell you who did this to me, it’s impossible for you all to defeat them. Besides, it won’t break the curse, only to weaken it."

Ash smirked inside. "That’s good enough for us, Lady Xuan Gui. Though we can’t confront them just yet, at least, we know our targets, and we will train very hard to get stronger!"

Xuan Gui lay down her head once again. "They are four Primordial Evil Beasts, renowned for their grotesque nature and insatiable desire for Chaos. Namely; Hundun, Qiong Qi, Taowu, and the worst amongst them, Taotie."

"Where could we find them?" Yinghui inquired.

"You can’t find them here. After the Great War, the Gods from Heavenly Palace banished them into the Chaos Realm in order to free this land from their malice. A place worse than hell itself." Xuan Gui remarked.

"But," Shangguang stepped closer. "How could you be imprisoned here while the Four Evils had banished eons ago?!"

"Because, I’m the last of my kind in the Immortal Beast Realm. The Gods from Heavenly Palace are afraid that I might revolt, and use my power to control the Immortal Beasts to go against their rules. Henceforth, they used this Cursed Artifact which was robbed from the Four Evils to seal both my corporeal body and soul."

Ash scoffed, he was so upset that Heavenly Palace would do such an underhanded way to claim control over this realm. Although their methods were less destructive, however, they were sucking out the very life-force of the Immortal Beast Realm until every resource in this realm dried up.

"Hmph! That’s utter bollocks! Compared to those sissy Gods, the Four Evils are the Saints. Yes, they were as insufferable as they have fated to be. But, these Primordial Evil Beasts were only serving their roles to maintain balance. Tsk! Could you imagine how many worlds that they have devoured to satiate their thirst for power since the very first ray of light throughout our universe?!"

"Countless of them, Young Phoenix." Xuan Gui nodded.

Ash simply couldn’t fathom the atrocities that were committed by Heavenly Palace’s God. He gritted his teeth, nails dug deep into his palms until his fist bleed out.

"They see as mere mindless livestocks that are ready to be culled whenever they wish. Hmph fine by me. If they are afraid of Chaos, I shall bring them to their front doors!"

"Wang Tianzun! Soon, I shall dethrone you and ripped your body apart!"

Ash screeched at the sky, his voice was so loud and sharp. Even though the sky turned cloudy, the ambience Qi in the surrounding air trembled when he challenged the current Emperor of Heavenly Palace."

"Master..." Shangguang was slightly terrified by Ash’s sudden outburst. She nudged her against his leg.

"I’m sorry Xiao Shan, did I scare you?"

"Only a little. But, I’m so happy that you always stay true to yourself and side with us, Immortal Beasts."

"It’s given, my dear. I would never turn my back. This realm shall be ours very soon. As of now, let us focus on increasing our strength."

"En! I understand, Master! I will also take care of Lady Xuan Gui and train very hard!"

"That’s my girl..." Ash scruffed Shangguang fur with the tip of his wings gently.

"Speaking of training, I have accumulated enough experience and supplies to make Nightflame’s handle and scabbard. I feel bad for not being able to finish my work!"

"How long will it take to finish Nightflame’s ornaments?"

"Just a few hours... I will notify when it’s done.

While Yinghui was busy with Nightflame, Ash opted to play with Shangguang for a while until she tired and fell asleep soundly. Afterward, Ash sat beside Xuan Gui’s head. Even though it’s their first time meeting each other, Ash could feel a faint dejavu in his mind. The strange longing feeling began to creep in his chest.

Ash listened to her story keenly. "No wonder why so many powerful beasts were weakened, and depraved."
