Chapter 178: Wedding Day (4)
Chapter 178: Wedding Day (4)
Rose’s happiness is complete.
Her mother and those closest to her can see her wedding ceremony. Even though this wedding was only attended by a few people, she was so grateful and didn’t ask for anything else. She didn’t need a grand wedding anymore. This wedding was enough for her.
However, when she realized that only Grandpa Arthur Collins represented Evan, she felt sorry for him. Wasn’t Aunt Doris unable to attend? Or did Evan not invite her? She felt worried because Evan still has a grudge against his mother.
When she wanted to ask Evan, she heard a loud and familiar voice from the entrance.
"Oh dear, am I coming too late? I hope not. I hope the wedding ceremony hasn’t started yet...."
Everyone looked in the entrance direction and saw Doris Stearn walk into the room with her big smile framing her face.
Seeing Evan’s mother attend their wedding instantly, Rose felt so happy. This time her happiness was genuinely complete.
"Aunty Doris! No, you are not late at all." Rose replies with the same loud voice and accompanied by broad smiles at Doris. Then she accepts Doris’s warm and big hug.
"Ugh! Thank God. I just finished surgery this morning. And I think I was driving the speedest I have ever been just for you, my dear Rose..."
Last night her son called and asked her to come here to attend his wedding with Rose. Of course, she was surprised that her son informed her at the last minute. But she couldn’t fuss about it because that’s how her son was. He makes a distance from his parents and never tells them about his personal life. She felt sorry for her son but couldn’t help because, as a parent, she had her role in making her son act like this.
"Thank you, Rose, for accepting my son. Even though he looks unfriendly and sometimes overbearing, believe me, he will be a caring and loving husband to you." Doris whispered to Rose’s ear.
Evan, standing right beside Rose, rolls his eyes hearing her mother’s words. Who is unfriendly and overbearing? I’m not like that, alright! He felt sullen hearing that.
"Aunty, I know. I am such a lucky one to him...." Rose’s sweet words could make Evan’s sullen expression vanish.
"Rose, I told you before, call me Mother. From today you will be my daughter-in-law. So you should get used to calling me that...." Doris let go of her arm, but her hand was still on Rose’s shoulder. "Can you do it?"
"I will, mother...."
"That’s better, dear." Doris was mesmerized by looking at her daughter-in-law’s stunning appearance. She looks so beautiful. "Wow, Rose! You look like a goddess in your wedding dress...." She couldn’t help but praise her daughter-in-law.
Rose can’t help but smile awkwardly. She didn’t know how to respond to Doris’ high praise. She glanced at her mother behind to ask for help.
"Dr. Doris... It’s nice to see you here." Molly walks beside her daughter and smiles, looking at Doris, who is surprised to see her.
"Oh my god, I’m sorry, sister Molly, I didn’t notice you earlier. I’m so happy we are finally in-law now." She grabs Molly’s hand gently and happily. She finally has a friend who has a similar personality to her.
"Yes, Dr. Doris, I’m happy too...."
"Sister Molly, you should call my name. I’m your in-law, not your doctor." Doris felt amused hearing Molly still address her as her doctor.
"Hahaha, you’re right, sister Doris...." Molly couldn’t help but laugh. Soon Doris dragged Molly to her seat while chatting excitedly. They ignore their son and daughter, so many things they wanted to discuss, while they have time.
Seeing Doris talking to her mother comforted Rose. Finally, she is free.
While Evan approaches his grandpa, Rose is walking toward her friend.
"Guys! You all come...." She didn’t know how Evan invited them all to come here. Did he just say this morning or yesterday?
They all reply with a warm smile and nod.
"Since when did you guys receive the invitation?" Rose asked because she was curious. Even as a bride, she doesn’t know about her own wedding ceremony. Evan really planned all of this on his own.
"Last night. Sam called us." James said.
"Tsk! I almost thought you had forgotten us, and your hubby there didn’t care for us!" Danny complained.
"Danny! Please, buddy. Don’t complain, okay? We should be grateful that our lady boss here invites us!" A wise but sarcastic Oliver glares at Danny.
Then he continues, "But Danny, I can understand how you feel, man. I have known her since childhood and got the same invitation as you guys. You know, she invited me only last night and not by herself, but through her trusted bodyguard, Sam."
Rose was speechless. Why are all of them now blaming her? Even she did not know about this wedding ceremony. She just found out a few minutes ago. Gosh!
"Would you believe me if I said I only found out about this event when I walked into this chapel?" She asks in her low soft voice. No one answered, instead they stared at her in a disbelief-looking gaze.
Sure enough, they all did not believe her. Damn!
"Alright... all anyway, thanks for coming." Rose, feeling exhausted, talks to them.
"Yeah! Thanks for inviting me anyway!" Oliver flatly said as he glanced at Evan. This is his second time meeting Evan. And he was still pressured standing near him. He didn’t understand why, but he felt that Evan’s aura had always intimidated him.
"Should we start now?" Arthur Collins, who was standing near the stage, said.
Everyone who had been chatting turned back towards the stage suddenly.
"Wife, let’s start now...." Evan approached Rose. He held her hand as they walked to the altar.
All eyes saw the two of them standing on the altar.
Soon their wedding procession starts, simply and solemnly. In just a few minutes, they were announced as husband and wife.
Rose and Evan’s sweet kiss could make everyone in the room giggle.
But apparently, not only did friends and family feel like that, but Rose also felt like she was in heaven. This was their first kiss since they officially became husband and wife. It was beyond her expectations. More than the first time they kissed. There was a tremor in her chest that she couldn’t describe in words. It feels so good.
