Chapter 92: Danger Lurks!
"How could I forget? Xavier promised to call me this morning..." she muttered, reaching for her phone and turning it on. Immediately, her phone began to vibrate incessantly.
Iris could only smile wryly as she found her phone flooded with texts from Xavier. She quickly dialed his number, concerned that he might rush over to her house to check on her well-being. In just a few days of getting to know him better, she was beginning to understand his caring nature.
"Good morning, Xavier," Iris warmly greeted when he answered the call. "I’m sorry, I just woke up. Last night, I turned off my cell phone before going to sleep," she explained as she left her room. However, as she stepped into the hallway, her footsteps halted abruptly. There stood Xavier near the glass window with his back facing her.
She was left utterly speechless and perplexed. Why had he arrived so early, and how had he made it to the second floor?
"Y-You—" Iris began to speak but couldn’t finish her sentence as Xavier turned to face her.
"Morning, Iris. It’s alright, I understand," Xavier said, offering her a warm smile. He put his phone in his coat and approached her while she stood still. "Are you hungry? Grandma Gray asked me to wake you up for breakfast," he continued, coming to a stop right in front of her.
Iris was left entirely without words as she observed Xavier. ’Why does this guy seem at ease, as if he lived here too?’ she wondered silently.
Xavier found amusement in Iris’s lingering confusion as she continued to gaze at him. "Would you like me to bring your breakfast up here?" he offered once more.
Iris snapped back, hastily shaking her head. "No, thank you," she replied with a smile.
"Alright, let’s head downstairs. Grandma is already waiting for us," Xavier said, taking her hand in his.
As they descended the stairs, Iris couldn’t resist her curiosity. "Why are you here so early?"
Xavier chuckled. "It’s almost nine, Iris. What were you doing last night that kept you up so late?"
Iris didn’t want to accidentally make him jealous by revealing that she had spoken to Gavriel, so she chose to remain silent, letting his question hang in the air.
"Grandma, good morning!" Iris greeted her grandmother as they reached the bottom of the stairs.
"Oh, you’re finally awake," Cassandra replied. "Go have your breakfast with Xavier. I’ll be busy at the cafe and won’t be joining you two." With that, Cassandra headed off to the cafe, leaving the two of them alone.
’Geez, Grandma... I just wanted to be free from Xavier, but now you’ve left us alone!?’ Iris silently took a deep breath. Then she turned to look at Xavier, who was standing behind her. "Have you had your breakfast?"
"Yes, but I’ll accompany you," he replied, walking casually to the dining table.
Iris shook her head once again, amused by how casually Xavier acted in her house. She followed him into the dining room and offered, "Would you like some coffee? I will make it for you..."
"Sure," Xavier said, his gaze fixed on her as she skillfully prepared the coffee.
However, a few seconds later, his attention shifted to outside the window, where the woods behind the house lay. A slight vein appeared on his pale forehead, and his eyes gradually turned crimson as he noticed a beast roaming not far from Iris’s house.
"Iris, I’m going to the bathroom for a moment..." Xavier stood from his seat and quickly made his way to the bathroom. However, when the door closed, he vanished from the bathroom. Then he reappeared in a dense, snowy forest several hundred meters away from Iris’ house.
With a single casual leap, he landed on a large branch, his sharp eyes fixated on a group of red-eyed wolves near his location.
’Why is this beast roaming here?’ he muttered, his brows furrowed in confusion. There shouldn’t be any beasts outside of his designated forest area. It is very dangerous for ordinary people if these beasts enter this region.
What concerned him the most was the proximity of this beast to Iris’ house. Their presence could harm her or Grandma Gray if they suddenly appeared in her backyard.
"What in the blazes is Selina doing? How can she remain oblivious to the presence of these beasts?" Xavier seethes with rage, venting his anger to the silent woods. He prepared himself to deal with the creatures below.
Before he could make a move, his keen eyes discerned Selina sprinting towards the beasts. She managed to subdue them in just a few graceful motions without killing them.
Nevertheless, Selina’s appearance still didn’t make Xavier happy at all. His eyes retained their fiery crimson hue, and his expression remained as frigid as an arctic glacier. He disappeared from the tree branch and reappeared near Selina’s location.
...
Selina, having successfully tamed the beasts that roamed outside their territory, heaved a sigh of relief. However, her calm didn’t last long because she suddenly felt an extremely powerful presence approaching from behind. Her body stiffened, and she slowly turned around to face the giant’s power.
Instantly, she froze in place, her face turning as white as snow on the ground. She was taken aback to see Xavier standing not far from her, his expression telling her that her lord was seething with anger.
"M-Milord!?" Selina, stuttering, greeted him. She hadn’t anticipated encountering him in this human forest. "W-What has brought you to this place, milord?"
"Why do these beasts roam here?" He asked, ignoring her question.
Selina clenched her fists tightly before saying in a worried voice, "Milord, someone broke the magic barrier—"
Xavier’s eyebrows arched at Selina’s sentence, "How could that happen?"
"I don’t understand either, Milord, but I have reported it to Brother Niles..."

Meanwhile, at Iris’ house, she stood before the bathroom, looking worried at the tightly closed door.
"Xavier, are you in there? Please reply to me, huh!?" Iris called again after a few attempts, but nothing came out of his mouth. Not even a hmmm. "Are you all right?" she asked worriedly, concerned that something might have happened to him in the bathroom.
