When Iris emerged from her bedroom, she noticed that the lights in the living room had been dimmed, leaving only a few decorative lamps illuminated in the corner.

’Why did he suddenly turn off the lights?’ she silently wondered, her amazement growing as she could feel the romantic vibe of the living room. The distant sound of crashing waves and the crackling of burning wood added to the romantic ambiance.

Iris spotted Xavier seated in a leather recliner near the fireplace. Her steps halted when she saw his eyes closed as if he were fast asleep. She hesitated to approach him but couldn’t resist her curiosity to observe him more closely, attracted by this rare sight of him sleeping.

When Iris noticed Xavier opening his eyes, she quickly apologized, "Sorry to keep you waiting, Xavier..."

Iris felt guilty because she had lost track of time, realizing she had nearly taken an hour to spend in her room, trying to calm her racing heart and mind.

A faint smile graced Xavier’s lips as he reassured her, "It’s okay. Come, sit here..." He pointed to the reclining chair next to him. "Is the temperature warm enough for you?" he asked, noticing her wearing a gray coat over her nightgown.

"Yeah, it’s quite warm," Iris replied, taking a seat beside him. She stole a quick glance at him, finding him gazing at the flames dancing in the fireplace.

After a few minutes passed in silence, Iris decided to start a conversation, "It’s really...tranquil here. Do you always spend your holidays alone in this place?"

"Hmm, yes. I like quiet places," The cold man responded, turning his gaze toward her.

"You seem quite different from Justin..." Iris chuckled, recalling how noisy Justin could be. As a quiet person herself with a personality similar to Xavier’s, she had found Justin’s energy overwhelming after just a few days of knowing him, which often left her feeling stressed.

However, she couldn’t deny that sometimes she missed the noise, especially in moments like this when she was in the same room with Xavier, who didn’t talk much.

"So, are you really into noisy guys like Justin?" Xavier asked, his tone casual, but his eyes held a hint of annoyance.

Iris swallowed nervously, realizing she had steered the conversation in the wrong direction. In a hurry, she responded, "Of course not," shaking her head and averting her gaze to the fire to avoid meeting his eyes.

"What kind of men do you like?" His question left Iris momentarily speechless.

"Isn’t it obvious?" Instead of giving a direct answer, she replied with her own question. "Why are you even asking?" She narrowed her eyes at him, awaiting his response.

Xavier remained silent, but his expression clearly conveyed his dissatisfaction with her answer.

Taking a deep breath, Iris finally admitted, "I like you!" She was left speechless when she saw him smile, a satisfied look on his face after hearing her response.

Iris, on the other hand, was at a loss for words. This was the first time she had witnessed this side of him, and it both surprised and amused her.

"How about you..." Iris wanted to understand whether this man was attracted to her or too young Iris. "Why do you like me? All this time, I pursued you, yet you never gave me a second look. But now, you’ve changed so much in such a short time... You even asked me to date for real. Why?"

Her question was enough to cause Xavier’s calm expression to gradually fade as he sat upright, facing her.

What she had said was true; he had never noticed her in the past. Only after they had met at her café on the day she was discharged from the hospital did he start curious about her. Since that day, this girl had continually appeared in his thoughts, filling an empty void in his heart. The void that he, the Darklord, always thought for sure could never be filled.

He knows their relationship now will be challenging. It seemed impossible for them to be together due to their differences. Still, he was determined to find a way in the future. For now, he just wanted to enjoy this moment with her.

"Does there have to be a reason for that?" he asked, locking her eyes.

"Yes. I want to know..." As she voiced her curiosity, she immediately regretted it, fearing that Xavier might perceive her as pushy.

A trace of a frown appeared on his face, and Xavier seemed lost in deep thought for a while before he finally replied, "Well, that’s true... I didn’t notice you back then. But do you remember the first time we met after your accident?"

Iris nodded, recalling, "At Gray Cafe..." The memory of that meeting was still vivid in her mind, although she had no memories of Xavier at that time.

"That day, I started to become curious about you. I don’t know why, but I do remember that after I returned home, I began asking Justin about you..." Xavier said honestly.

Xavier was aware that this girl wasn’t the Iris Gray he had known before; she was a different soul, and she, too, was a God Helper. He learned about her past identity from Lucian; her real name was Iris Gray, and she had passed away at the age of 29, which made him desperate to know more.

However, Lucian, that old geezer, had truly vexed him by only providing those two pieces of information about her. He can’t do much to force Lucian as that man suddenly hides himself.

Iris was utterly shocked to hear his answer. A deep feeling of warmth and joy now overwhelmed her.

’Oh my goodness! So, the woman he fancies... is truly me?’ Overwhelmed by this fact, Iris yearned to ask him again, but she restrained herself, fearing Xavier might grow suspicious.

She averted her gaze from him, concealing her happiness, which proved challenging to hide. Somehow, her calm had entirely slipped away.

Just as she regained her calmness, Xavier’s next question caused her to lose her calm again.

"Iris, are you satisfied with my answer?"
