Rebirth as The Vampire Lord's Wife -
Chapter 84: Kissing
Chapter 84: Kissing
Xavier couldn’t help but chuckle inwardly as he watched her freeze, her eyes locked onto his. With warmth in his eyes, he let his gaze linger on her face for a moment before gently placing a tender kiss on her lips.
Before she could react, his kiss had covered her lips domineeringly. It was clearly icy lips without the slightest warmth but akin to sparks burning a prairie. It sparked a pool of heat around Iris’ lips. The alternation between ice and fire intertwined between their lips and teeth. The tip of his icy tongue captured every trace of sweetness in her mouth domineeringly as it tempted her stiff tongue to entangle with him.
The kiss seemed to have vented his inner feelings...
When he felt her breathing quicken, her little hand pushed him away trying to gasp the air. Every nerve in his arms tensed as he gradually ended the kiss. He pulled her close, hugging her tightly. Lowering his head, he nestled his face in her neck, inhaling her scent and feeling the constant warmth of her body. It felt as though her warmth was continuously infusing his cold soul through their contact.
"This is my sincere answer to you, Iris Gray," Xavier whispered near her ear, his voice exuding gentleness. He had never thanked God for his peaceful life in this realm or his unmatched power. Yet, at that moment, he felt an overwhelming gratitude that fate had brought this woman to his side.
He didn’t know if this girl was the one who could fill the void in his heart after centuries. Still, for the time being, he didn’t want to hear the words ’fake relationship’ between them anymore. He simply wanted their relationship to be honest. If one day it turns out that this girl is not the one he was waiting for, he won’t care. He’ll deal with it later.
...
Iris’s mind went blank as though an invisible black hole had devoured all her thoughts. She straightened her back, subtly creating distance between them. She could feel as if all the blood in her body was about to rush straight to her face. Even her delicate facial features could not hide the shock on her face.
The kiss, the hug, the scent... Everything about him now overwhelmed her mind, rendering her incapable of uttering a single word. She lowered her head, attempting to hide her blushing face from his lingering, tender gaze.
Before Iris could calm the nervousness and shock in her heart, she heard him speak.
"Iris Gray, please look at me now..." As she slowly lifted her head and their eyes met, he continued, "Are you willing to be my girlfriend? For real?"
Iris attempted to reply with a "YES!" several times, but somehow, the words remained trapped within her lips, frustrating her.
She couldn’t quite grasp why she felt this way, perhaps still overwhelmed by the realization that her deepest desire had been granted; Xavier, who was still so close to her, holding her hands tightly, shared the same feelings with her.
After several seconds passed in tension, she heard him speak again, his tone growing somber. "If you can’t answer by now—"
"YES!" The word she had whispered countless times in her heart burst forth loudly from her lips, leaving Xavier before her stunned, looking at her. His initial frustration gradually gave way to a warm smile that melted her heart.
She couldn’t quite remember what happened afterward, but she knew that she was in his embrace once more. This time, she didn’t feel shocked like before; instead, she felt blissful.
When Xavier’s arms finally loosened, Iris couldn’t help but smile wide, feeling the warmth rush to her cheeks. Her heart was still brimming with happiness, leaving her momentarily speechless. Even when Xavier asked her something, she could only manage a nod.
As their car came to a stop right in front of the beach house, she was still overwhelmed by the progress in their relationship, from a fake couple to something real. But she couldn’t shake the awkwardness she felt around him, which was causing her no small amount of stress.
She hurriedly followed him into the house, attempting to set aside her awkwardness. Her mind raced to find a suitable topic for conversation, as she had so much she wanted to say to him. Yet, as before, the words just danced around in her mind, refusing to leave her lips.
’Gosh, Iris, can you stop being so shy around him?’ She chided herself inwardly. Lost in her thoughts, she suddenly felt her head bump into his chest.
"Ouch!" she cried out, abruptly stopping and rubbing her forehead before meeting his gaze. "Sorry, Xavier..."
"What were you thinking about that you didn’t notice me standing right before you?" Xavier asked calmly, though Iris couldn’t help but feel embarrassed. "Iris, would you like to chat before going to bed?" he continued his words, stopping teasing her as he could see how red her face was now.
She blinked several times before saying, "We can chat before sleep, but I need to change first..." She felt like burning coals were under her coat and urgently needed to change into comfortable home clothes.
"Alright, I’ll wait for you by the fireplace," he said, pointing in its direction.
Iris could only nod in response and quickly made her way to her bedroom.
Her legs felt weak as soon as the bedroom door closed behind her. She walked wobbly toward the bed and sat on the edge for a moment before throwing her back onto the soft mattress, giggling like crazy as she imagined what had just happened.
The image of Xavier asking her to be a real couple, along with the kisses they had shared, filled her with an overwhelming joy. She buried her face in her hands, smiling widely and feeling consumed by this nameless bliss.
For the first time in her life, Iris felt this profoundly happy. She found it challenging to put this feeling into words at the moment, but one thing she was sure of—she liked this feeling.
